Popular Post Kiltox Posted December 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2019 As 2019 draws to a close I’ve decided I am going to set myself a challenge for 2020 - I am going to buy, fix as required, use and sell/swap/otherwise dispose of a car every month. Twelve cars in twelve months which is tame by some shiters standards, I’m sure (here’s looking at you, @DodgyBastard, you fucking legend). The goal isn’t about making profit from each car (although it’d be nice) but to drive some stuff I haven’t had before and also to finally make some real effort in making YouTube content. Hoping that buying generally working stuff will mean I can churn out videos without the delay of having to replace head gaskets and other major repairs that the shoddier part of my current fleet requires A few ground rules: £500 purchase price per car, max. Roffle cars that are worth more are OK as long as I don’t spend more than £500 on tickets. Road legal, preferably with a few months MOT. Having to test cars will make the schedule even tighter. Only terminally broken cars will be scrapped if they absolutely must be - weighing in working stuff just to move on to the next one isn’t acceptable. No age/type/etc restrictions. Some will belong in the modern section, some will be thoroughbred shite. I’m quite partial to 2000s shit that some people think is brand new. January’s entrant is already lined up. Keep your eyes peeled. mrbenn, Mally, Craig the Princess and 53 others 51 3 2
bigstraight6 Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Great challenge you’ve set yourself there, this is going to be good! Kiltox 1
LabRat Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Looking forwards to seeing this, a decent challenge you've set yourself there! You're more than welcome to have a go in the mg6 at some point too, now it's just about clear of all the giffer "improvements" Kiltox 1

LabRat Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 We can arrange something at some point mate. I've not seen any going for £500, but the way they hold value, anything could happen! Carlosfandango and Kiltox 2
Craig the Princess Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Breath well and truly baited. This should be good, best of luck. Kiltox 1
Twisterboy Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I have a similar type of plan next year is to buy some crap cars, review for my YouTube channel and punt them..... Kiltox 1

sporty-shite Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I'm thinking I might try to do something similar. My mojo for all things has been pretty low for the past few months, so I need to shake myself up and do something constructive. Potential swaps/deals etc would be most welcome. New POD Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Did you ever watch the million pound property experiment? What you plan to do it s pointless unless you plan to make 20% your money each month. I was going to say double, but getting to a 4 million quid car seems much less likely. Kiltox, Wack and purplebargeken 3

Eyersey1234 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Sounds like it will be a good challenge I'm looking forward to it already. Kiltox 1
spartacus Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Ace idea, it appears easy on the face of it but a month soon whips round, tying it in with real life/family/work etc is going to keep you busy! Looking forward to seeing the first car. purplebargeken and Kiltox 2

Looking forward to seeing the first car. The more I think about the practicality of the timings, logistics etc the more I’m terrified. Swaps would make things a lot more manageable so keep your eyes peeled (everyone) for some frankly ridiculous deals as I start to get time poor ? The first car might be a little bit too new for hardcore shiters. Definitely in budget though, well under in fact. scdan4, barefoot, Flat4 and 2 others 5

It’s a bit light on content at the moment because anything I bought to try and make videos with turned out to be too knackered to bother with ? - I’ll hopefully be able to have some longer term project videos running too, with the mk1 Clio and my Rover 216 Cabriolet that both require a fair bit of work.

sdkrc Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 A guy did something similar a few years back on RR. I remember because he outbid me on an XM by £1. Top read and cracking idea. Ha - no idea how you managed to find it (only really mentioned it here) but that’s awesome! Have been lacking in motivation to make videos recently but I think having a clear goal and purpose to focus on is going to help with that for sure. Still feel like an absolute knob speaking to a camera mind Carlosfandango and mrbenn 2
mrbenn Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 YouTube is great for things like this, I reckon you'll see subscriber numbers building quickly. You're a natural in front of the camera! Looking forward to then next vid ? Kiltox 1

The losses were quite difficult to bear though - hopefully I’m mitigating that with the lower starting budget, given January’s car comes in under £200! Above all the hassle of eBay messers seemed to be the longest recurring theme - hoping that cheapness will mean roffles and swaps can feature as the primary disposal methods for me! sdkrc 1
tapir Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 looking forward to seeing progress Kiltox, great project. The RR thread from a few back back was great, worth noting the hassle he had with eBay selling - perhaps you could mitigate some of this with roffles? Anyhow, HNY and good luck! Kiltox 1
Craig the Princess Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 When do you expect the first video of this series to go up?
