Autoshite dreams?

The other night I had a dream that I was selling a Citroen BX to CatsInthewelder outside a former mental asylum...

He didn’t really want it...

Had a weird one the other night!

I seemed to be part of a vehicle mechanics course. Me and my 'team' that consisted of 3 other young chaps who were into modifying were given a Green Renault Scénic II with poundland wheel trims to do up. I was trying to convince the chaps that subtle modifications were the way to go. Not matt-black and slammed to the floor but higher spec stuff like leather, Gold alloys from higher spec model etc....

Woke up before the conclusion but that dream stayed in my head for a few hours after!

I once had a dream where I had travelled back in time to about 1984 and I was walking around where I knew in Coventry (like my nan and grandads house) looking at all of the cars. From the photos I've seen it was strangely accurate, they had a CX Safari and a Metro, the neighbours had a Maestro and someone had a yellow Cavalier. It was a pretty cool dream.

Funny this thread is at the top, I had a dream the other night involving me owning a late model 505 Estate, either a GTi or GRD maybe.

I can't remember the rest of the dream but woke up slightly disappointed I didn't have one sitting outside :(

Now you mention it, I had a dream the other night where I discovered an abandoned yard behind @adammcc's gaff, containing a selection of shite - including a pre-facelift Renault 11 with the lights removed and an early 3-dr Corsa B side by side under a collapsing lean-to; a Jaguar XJ-S (on ramps with the bonnet up) parked next to a wheelless Mk1 Renault 5; and a rusted-out VW T2 camper in among some old Bedford commercials...

It was pissing with rain, and the weeds were waist-high, so I didn't investigate further because I could go back any time when it was dry and explore the yard fully.

Way to go, Dream-me... ?

I've just woke up after dreaming that a truck had turned up at my house containing the front end and scrap shell of an Alfasud Sprint. I only agreed to buy the parts off the vendor for £196 a year earlier if he agreed to sell me a tidy example for £3995 but the sale fell through. The seller's name was G.A. Aspinall of Southport.

Had a dream last night where I'd somehow ended up on a bus in Edinburgh, with no wallet or coat and only in my slippers, with the rain pissing down and the bus going the wrong way.

Hopped off and took a shortcut through the part of Edinburgh University near Arthur's Seat, trying to get back to Calton Hill/London Rd area.

Then I noticed various bits of Invacar Model 70 bodyshell piled up in some weird subterranean railway arch shop thing.

Somehow I had my very first digital camera with me (an Olympus compact) and was trying to get a clear shot of the numberplate on a back end section for @LightBulbFun's thread, in case it might be of use - but the light was crap and people kept walking in front of me and blocking my shot.

I think the plate read as MKH782L.

Now wondering if I should ring the DVLA helpline and open with "Hope you can help me - I had this dream, right...."

?

(Apparently, KH is a Hull designation so if it ever did belong to an Invacar, it would have to have been a privately bought non-DHSS example.)

haha, I appreciate that even in your dream state your willing to take photos for me/my thread!

sadly MKH782L would only be valid as an age related number plate, (ie if you imported a car today or transfered an original reg off a car)

it doesn't look like MKH-L was issued back in the day.

also if it is L reg private, then it will have been an AC Model 70, Invacar did not sell its first private Model 70 until OOO661M

but AC did sell a number of Private L reg Model 70's (infact all the private AC Model 70's I can find are L reg apart from NPN924P)

RRE20L

JNJ135L

GPM346L

VFG958L

PPG124L

(side note HK is a Essex marker but MHK-L was never issued, howver MHK-J was issued and MHK801J-MHK900J is a block of Invacar Mk12's :) )

On the old registration system AG, AT, KH and RH were Hull registrations, pre 197(4?) BT and WF were East Riding registrations.

My dream last night was a bit weird, driving a National Express liveried tri axle Scania on an NX route from England to Russia via Portsmouth, and we had a day to get from Hull into Russia.

Edited to add I had been given no route learning either so had no idea where I was going.

For some reason last nights dream saw me purchasing a 'for restoration' old Fiat 500. It was parked outside the house and one of the local twats kept tagging it with a variety of rattle cans, he was too quick for me to catch even though he was laden down with a big box of cans (cunt).  After a while a couple of the local thugs approached me and said that this lad was a real trouble maker and suggested that I killed him.  I thought this was entirely reasonable and obtained a suitable weapon. I caught the lad and gave him a choice of two options. The first option being that I shoot him in the head as he was being a twat, the second option was that he paint the car for me in a proper quality street graffiti manner but with out any gang related shit.  I woke up as he was debating the options.

Better that the usual car/zombie dreams I guess. They are properly tiring!

This morning I dreamt that I had driven past a red D reg Ford Sierra with the recessed headlamps BUT it had a grey grille. @BorniteIdentityFor some reason I carried on driving so no pulling over to get a snap of it to add to my flickr photostream!

Yes, a few years too late for the grey grille to be a standard feature so it was intriguing to me...while  I was sleeping!

Having just read through the entire thread, I have again come to the conclusion that we are all just fucking nuts.

Woken up by the cats having a scrap at 7am; which pulled me out of a dream where I was waiting for a parcel in my car in a multi-storey car park (something to do with Royal Mail Coronavirus measures), before realising that@jakebullet was parked up behind in a copper-coloured Chevette saloon with Rostyles, and @Shep Shepherd alongside in a white Volvo 940 saloon - which for some reason was decorated with portraits of historical US presidents and text, kinda like a mobile version of the sort of information board you'd find at a museum or old building. Shep was also wearing an impressive 17th century style black curly wig.

Somehow, I ended up being driven round the carpark in the back of the Chevette so I could appreciate how much better the flow-through ventilation worked in Chevettes rather than Viva HCs.

It did work better than in the HC.

I think I'd have to concur with PBK's assessment above.

Speaking of weird dreams, a couple of weeks ago I had a very strange and very vivid dream in which I rubbed half of a cut potato all over the roof of a metallic blue mark 3 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi. It was so vivid that I woke up laughing

Well, can't really comment on the dream but I'd suggest you give Discovery Channel a call and pitch this to them as a prospective new car show for them to make. Sounds like a winner to me. (Let's face it, there's way worse on Discovery these days).

I had a bit of a weird one last night, I along with several of my colleagues were running a pub as well as our NX driving but as a sideline to the sideline we also had a classic car and coach hire business, the fleet for that consisted of a late 1940s Reading bodied Dennis Lancet, a Duple bodied Bedford OB, a Plaxton bodied Bedford VAL, 1960s Jaguar S Type, Ford Capri Mk3 and a Rover P6 2000.

Odd one last night.

In the dream I was out vehicle shopping and there were giant parking lots to mooch through, a black mark 2 escort had been given a premium position and randomly scattered about all the normal cars were three faded yellow sierras, weirdly I remember one was an estat and they all had different facelift/period fronts. I saw the sticker price in one as 1995 and seemed to think I should tell @BorniteIdentity - I blame the Sierra presence in the dream on reading the ph update of the smashed base window last night.

i bought something resembling a Talbot alpine for about four grand. In the dream I’d looked at one before for a few hundred that was rusty but settled on this one and bought it without investigating even though in the dream I was stood there in person. I don’t remember paying anyone. I just seemed to own it magically.

Cut scene to me driving with it the missus in it and telling her how I’d paid more as it only needed a few bits of tidying on the body. However when I got out imagine my horror when I realised it was the same alpine I’d looked at before but to cover the completely rotten bonnet they’d put tinfoil over the whole bonnet and top of the wings but I hadn’t noticed - the car was red in the dream.

I was puzzling how to resolve this and explain it away when I woke up.

Over to you Freud, perhaps my mind is worrying about getting one or other of the Mazda’s running before the goona goes?

This morning I dreamt that I was standing in an entrance to a car park and a heavily bodykitted, immaculate Citroen CX series 2 (a Turbo I think) in black driven past me. I just kept looking at it while it rolled past, in absolute awe.

CXs make appearances in my dreams every now and then. Is this a sign?

This lockdown change of routine is causing some weird dreams. Not many cars in them though, but last night I dreamt I was going on a long journey with @dollywobbler in his 2CV. I don't know where we were going but it would take several days and I was sitting in the back trying to get some sleep. Then we stopped at a market where I bought loads of models and tried to cram them into the boot of the 2CV, which was already full of spare parts and supplies.

I must have successfully returned from that trip as later on I had a coach parked in the garden (a blue and yellow Plaxton Excalibur to be precise). My sister and her friends were sitting on it chatting, and my mum kept knitting bags and hanging them all over the outside of the coach!

This morning I woke up and for a split second thought my concerns for my financial future were over.
Why?  Because I’d sold all my cars from storage , that’s why. And when I say all, I mean every car I’ve ever owned ,had anything to do with Or most interestingly seen abandoned. The Pop from a derelict house that I prised the Ford badge off, the Mk2 Jag in a school friends barn, the Lancaster Flavia Coupe that was in a field on a Scout camp, the Tractin Avant that was in a disused mill that we used to hide in on school cross country runs, etc etc

Initially it was a problem  that I hadn’t got the logbooks or keys , but I found them in railway signal box(?!) down a muddy hill in Stony Stratford. I could even smell the dampness in the more modern Jags that were in a line along a hedge.

'Tis only a sign if you're willing to spend up to ten bags on one.

Black's a terrible colour for heat absorption reasons. Could ye not dream in blue or burgundy instead?

I was dream-reminiscing about my old LDV bus, and thinking it marvellous how I'd scaled the nose of the gas turbine APT onto it. Inspecting the crusty NSF arch revealed it to be decorative icing. I carefully sliced a bit off, and another bit, and...it turned out the APT nose cone was a giant battenburg cake. Naturally there was a massive queue of people with their plates, so I whittled the APT nose cake down in no time, ending up with a pristine LDV and many happy people.

Which is perhaps the most unlikely part: the yellow bit of it was marzipan, AND NOBODY OBJECTED??? That has never happened, nor ever will. There's always a percentage of folk get the dry boak at even the thought of the stuff.

A couple of days ago I had the weirdest dream about my Suzuki, and had spun the engine to longitudinal, fitted an Avenger gearbox and a Salisbury axle from a Jag Mk2, and I did my nut after on a test drive the whole thing sounded like a Mk1 Fiesta, so I changed the rear wheels and it sounded like a Chevette, which made me much happier.

A few hours ago I dreamt that I owned an immaculate 1992-1995 white Ford Granada 2.5 TD hatchback in white. I think it was an LX or GLX. I really was proud of it. :)

Oddest thing was that it was parked outside my the house I grew up in. My parents have now passed on and the house was sold last year so I have no reason to be there.

I actually got to 'drive' it in my dream.  Looked at the fuel gauge which was low and not worrying too much because it was diesel.

Makes a change from dreaming of Citroen CXs.

I other week I dreamt that I was driving to Lytham with my family in a Wedgewood blue Rover P6 2200 TC with light blue seats in the middle of summer, mid 20 degrees and had fish and chips, leant on the bonnet. God knows why, I don't even own a P6

I had a dream a couple of months ago that I was buying back my old MK 2 Escort which I sold when I was 18. The car had been totally restored and was immaculate but after completing the deal I opened the bonnet and found the seller had converted it to front wheel drive, using Austin Maestro running gear, this resulted in a big argument with the seller.
While all this was going on Carlton television we’re using the sellers house for an episode of thru the keyhole but it was the old format with Lloyd Grossman.
Oh and Daniel Beddingfield had passed away.
