Have to say the AA have been pretty good for me in the many years I've been a member.  RAC were utter dogshit the one year I went with them instead - the one time I had to call them out they took over four hours to get to me on the Norwich ring road.  The contractor who eventually came out told me that he'd only received the call about 30 minutes earlier, so the call centre staff had obviously been sat scratching their bollocks (/ minges) for three and a half hours.

Ah right, it's the courtesy car for the malfunctioning Ami that's now suffered an acute lack of air in one corner? Hell's teeth, not much luck coming your way lately!

Fingers crossed you'll be sorted soon - I guess it's all good content for the channel, but not really the sort of weather to relish a stranding...

Good thing about EVs, contrary to popular belief, is that you can stay warm and comfortable without making a racket / pollution or rapidly draining the battery.

6.5 hours in the end. I’m waiting at the Peugeot dealership for them to swap the tyre now.

Fuck sake. Rivets are pulling out of the clothes airer

I can see a way to fix it, squeeze it with a pair of mole grips and a bearing ball to flare it. Have I got one anywhere at home? No chance, all in the lockup I rented as a temporary measure after I moved back to Essex in 2017. I could empty it and put everything in the huge shed but the fucker leaks like a seive so I refuse to risk it. Would get a wooden shed but it's a non-standard size to go on the base we made and of course everything's shot up in price so I can't afford it.

Anyway, fought my way through the evening traffic to my garage, and THE FUCKING KEYS ARE AT HOME

People queuing at my local filling station. For christs' sake the filler will pull out far enough for you to fill up even if the filler cap is on the other side.

I swear people are going worse...

it’s the same here.
its ok* to block the entrance when almost half the pumps are free, because there are no left/right** hand pumps clear.

* Not ok

The filler won’t reach the other side if you position you car so badly at the pump, it’s barely in the same post code.

The first sign of winter is me running out the house in my bath robe to start the car 10 minutes before I leave for work 😅

I had this yesterday. My local filling station is down to £1.38 litre so there's usually a bit of a queue exacerbated by people;

doing a ten minute shop, having a chat with the staff whilst they're car is blocking two of the pumps (the forecourt is miniscule cos countryside).

taking a Gandalfesque 'you shall not pass!' position blocking both sides of the pumps (the chopper in question was in a pickup which I know from experience are nearly impossible to fill from the right (wrong) hand side.

refusing to back out of the space when the car in front is blocking their way forward.

Does anyone else find that RAC are utter horse shit? I’ve been waiting four hours now with a fucking puncture.

At least with horse shit, you can warm your feet in it.

Some fucker almost completely blocked two pumps here recently with a shiny new electric car, while he nipped in to buy coffee. Couldn't slip a fag paper between it and the scruffiest Scirocco in the world when he came back out.

The first time I ever needed recovery was about 3 years ago. I was on my way home from work on a Friday just after 5 PM and was about 2 or 3 miles from home and the car FTP on a bend next to the entrance to a nursing home on one of the busiest roads in the local area.

I used the recovery through my insurer Adrian Flux and they turned up about 8.45 PM.

I think the worst thing about it though, whilst sat there with the hazards on, was the amount people beeping and giving me the v sign/wanker sign as though I'd decided to park there!

Absolutely nothing happened when you turned the key. The recovery bloke wasn't really interested in trying to get it started he just wanted to load it up and take me home. After an hour or so the following morning going over things and head scratching the last thing I thought was the ECU... I removed the kick panel in the footwell and found a loose block connector. It then started first turn of the key.

At least -14°c cold is dry. It's cold and damp on this island.

It is like this along the coast here too, but here inland it is cold and dry as you say. But anyway it's shit, it must be fantastic to live in a place without a real winter.

Some winters in the north of Scotland could be very cold, sometimes below minus 20 but dry. I would take this instead of the cold and wet but it is miserable either way.

The grass is always greener on the other side... I'd swap the weeks of miserable rainy weather we've recently had here for more crisp, clear days like we've had today. If we had some snow then that would be even better 😁

I think they do it in pretty revenge for all the SUV s parked in the charging bay at Sainsbury's.

Baiting people into a frothy mouthed frenzy about electric cars is my new hobby.

I don't have one and I'm not likely to buy one anytime soon. But it's still fun.

One of the reasons we moved to Bulgaria is for the climate which still has 4 proper seasons.

Not just wet and grey all year round that the UK seems to specialise in.

Just heard that one of my former managers has died of MND.  I was never particularly fond of him but it's a horrible way to go and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.  He wasn't much older than me.

This.  I'm from Aberdeenshire originally and I'd take autumn and winter there over down here any day.  Yes it's cold, but generally it's cold and clear unless it's actually doing something.

You don't get the weeks and weeks and weeks of just being damp and generally miserable.

I'd take cold in winter over the summer down here any day.  Cold you can add more layers to deal with, when it's 25+C there's absolutely nothing you can do about it unless you're a multi millionaire and can afford an air conditioned garage.

The entire street's cars are frozen solid. Mine & Hazel's have shite written on them. Nobody else's car.  I'm sure it's just a coincidence* that we both have problems with cunt next door. Hazel is targeted because she wants to park her car on her own drive, and CND have to walk an extra few feet if they leave her drive clear so they block her in regularly.

another frosty day , another day the trains dont run properly  , you would think after 40 years ( in my memory ) they could sort things out .

my grandad used to travel to be in work for 6 am using the  trains many years ago , now they cant even open the station doors at that time ...

you would think it would be cheaper to scrap the local trains and just leave the replacement bus service running  instead ...

For the first time in seven years, i own just three cars. I can’t believe it. It feels quite cathartic, but also devoid of excitement.

I have a proper birthday next week and am going to get all the shit I need for my Mini. Perhaps less IS more. Will report back - in the meantime please keep making terrible choices on my behalf.

I tell myself I am doing my best to operate a 1 in 1 out policy until I become enough of an adult to have all the issues sorted on the 3 vehicles I have.

But who am I kidding. I'd have 100 if I could park them all somewhere and then nothing would get done

was looking to do one for a bit next week before the nightmare before (and during xmas) starts (fuck you border force and for some odd reason newhaven port)

so looking to do southern spain and gibraltar - fine and might still happen

but friends went to athens to start a cruise and ive always (looooong time) wanted to see the evzones - so theyve been asked do they do the ceremony at this time of year

so i looked at flights

you want how much??!!!!!!!!!!!!

but the lol happened - one of them went via sofia :D - if i was gonna pick that id just go to bulge area

the other was via valetta - again always wanted to go there and no point then heading for greece

also a zurich but ive been there :D

madness

would do ireland but the ferries obvs are already booked up and the spain thing would cost half what the ferry would be - all stenas european ferries are very reasonable and not 400 years old - unlike the irish ones although they have upgraded them in the last 3 years
