It's the same when we go for a meal with Mrs Stoned's family. Always the same couple who order the most expensive starter, main & dessert, then put their drinks on the tab for good measure! Boils my piss!

Or demands for another vote from those who didn't get the result they wanted first Second time around.

Meanwhile, as Australia gets its fifth Prime Minister in eight years, I wonder if Australia is just Italy in disguise?

Don’t get me fucking started!

Australian politicians are utterly, utterly hopeless.

That is all.

Only if the winning side had been found guilty of breaking election rules.

But let's leave that there before any buses get painted.

And renegade on their biggest claims literally as the results are coming in.

And quit their party/positions so someone else has to deal with the consequences of the result.

Tricky to get them to burn cleanly though, I think they need to be chipped or shredded before burning. - you are correct about the energy stored in them.

I have too much wood for the fire this year. My grump is that I have to cut it all up yet...

summer is over, i've had to put the heating on.....

Oh yeah, this, it was 7 degrees this morning and all I could see on the way to work were tents everywhere, poor bastards.

I have loads and loads of fire wood for this winter.

All in 8ft lengths! :-(

I had to wear a cardigan today. Checked the indoor temp, 18C.

Had to put the heating on today. I hardly ever feel the cold. Went out to buy a sander for the wife and some new nuts & washers for Saab's alternator, when I got home I was shivering. Mind you, serves me right for going out in the pissing rain with shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops.

Tea, bovril and a hot curry hasn't warmed me internally yet either. I hope I'm not getting a lurgy as I have the snots now.

Still feeling very summer-y here. You're welcome to it if you want it. Too damn hot.

Phil

Edit: Yup, definitely hot. Even with a steady 15mph breeze I was sweating riding on my bike.

The bike was doing all the hard work, too!

My winter coat, hat & boots that all got retreated this year are all no longer waterproof :(

One day I will learn not to maintain clothes! years ago I retreated bike textiles & they all became totally porous. This time a leather coat, hat & boots have done the same when treated with stuff the shop says cleans & rewaterproofs... I'd best buy some dubbing & try again before winter I think, my coat currently weighs about two stone ffs.

Vaseline

Rub Vaseline over the lot. Brilliant stuff. Use it on everything. Coats, dogs, cars, whatever. It will make anything waterproof

Further to warm, I checked the ground. In the shade the floor measures 41C.

So I set about measuring a few other things. The pathway:

The car (hasn't been run since yesterday):

Just plain hot. (Yes, I know the base emissivity figure is set in both to the same 0.95, but for those two surfaces if you're unhappy just substitute "bloody hot").

Roll on wintertime.
