And i doubt this post will get past moderation, but you never know.....

Borniteidentity, you are obviously still.....a year or so on.....STILL mardy because i once implied you were a bellend? Thats some serious dedication to being salty.

I was going to post something terribly rude, but there is no point is there? you will never change, so you just keep on being you and the rest of us will know where we stand.

Well I'm glad to hear you'll still pop in davenumbers, your shite fixing thread etc was always good read.

Flippin ebay have started applying best offers on any items i list they dont think are getting many views on a fixed price buy it now. So now i keep getting halfwits offering half price or less and then asking for free postage.

I hear you.

Keep a watching brief, the pendulum has always swung back......eventually.

Your posts make me smile.

I was going to DM you, Dave - but in the name of transparency I’ll put it here.

I’ve no beef with you. You’ve forgotten more than I’ve ever learned about cars, and I think your set up with cars and Home in France is cool AF. Genuinely, I think you’ve got it sorted.

You and the other DaveB47 apologisers did rile me. It should be abundantly clear by now that he was on the take and not really fit for purpose. I’d like to think those of us who wanted change have been vindicated now, but it still seems some saw no problem before.

Like JM, Skizzer and a few others, I felt throughly pissed at handing money over each month for it to make no difference at all.

Anyway, what’s done is done.

If you’d like to send me your PayPal email, I’ll buy you a beer of your choice. I’m sorry if you took offence to anything posted in the past. Genuinely.

Thats cool, Thanks. Skip the beer money, the sentiment is worth more.

I was never a daveb apologist though, I donated plenty and fumed at what was [wasnt] done with it, I was more of a "dont keep prodding the man who could flush it all on a whim" kind of person, but thats old news now so lets not bring that back up.

Hope you do stick around Dave, I have always enjoyed your epic tat fixing adventures! Wasn't having a go on the other page BTW.

Dave - keep reading, maybe if it swings back the other way you'll have some tales of that time you rebuilt a gearbox using a BMX crank, some bailing twine and a scotch egg. There's some decent engineering in your posts and they're always a pleasure to read.

And whilst we're at it, I know I'm borderline non-shiter. I know I contribute more to the techy threads on Open than anything else. Hopefully the current feeling of how all the car threads are dropping off isn't aggravated by people like me - I try not to be a dickhead to anyone, but when my daily driver is newer than most of my shoes (and I have nowhere to put anything else vehicular) I sometimes find it hard to contribute much to the main forum.

I do think the simple rule of don't be a knobhead should suffice, if you can't walk away from an online argument you really need to look at yourself.

SAY IT TO MY FACE!!!

Same here, I never have any proper vehicle content, so try not to get in the way too much.

Don't go Dave, the world (and particularly this site) needs more people who can do a DIY head skim, ghetto MGF steering conversion and Mini floorpan transplant. Your content is as good as we ever get on here, I'll be gutted if that's the end of it. Keep on shitin'!!

Yeah, can we just clear something up here..... i didnt flounce of because of the death penalty thread. Unlike what three or four members here seem to assume, Im not a thin skinned little girl. I said my piece there and had nothing to do with it being closed.

How about I repost what I last wrote on this thread just to be clear?

I am giving up on Autoshite because it just doesnt interest me any more - the ratio of posts I personally find interesting to posts I think are drivel has tipped too far the wrong way for my liking. I have visited this site pretty much every day since I joined, but the last couple of months I only read a small handful of posts about things that interest me and skim the rest to see if any good new content has come up. Those that give a fuck will have noticed my own posting has likely dropped off sharply in that time. Its not just the open forum, its the site generally.

I will still visit to read the things that interest me, but I wont be likely to be contributing further. Call me a vain cunt for this if you like, but it tires me when myself and several others put effort into making interesting threads and see them usually tumble down the board while masterpieces like "hurrdurr what [X] should i [Y]?" keep floating to the top like unflushable turds.

Dave,

I'd assumed (wrongly by the sounds of it) that the thread in the open forum had touched a nerve and pissed you off. I see now that wasn't the case so sorry for suggesting otherwise.

I'm with you on your real issue however.

I had a bit of a moan myself on the News24 (or was it on this one?) thread not long ago about content so I know what your on about.

It can be a bit disheartening sometimes to post up in one of your own threads about something your doing or done only to see it get no interest at all and just roll of the page.

Bollocks to it though, I like coming on here and I know some people like what I post about on my shit heaps so I'll just continue to do it regardless. Nobody (so far!) has outright come out and said I'm a twat and stop posting stuff about shitty old Fords nobody can afford anymore, or American crap that's just ridiculous to own in this country or battered old Volvo's... so until that happens I'll carry on!

All the best Dave, whatever you decide.

Mostly just to annoy you

Don't flatter yourself Alan, I just take you off 'ignore' every few months to see if you've grown up any.

See you in the New Year then.

That's twice what it cost to fly down to collect the thing!

How about we have a 'prat' button.......the poster with the most pushes gets banned for a month??

Or we set fire to his/ her house?

Thing is, that ‘insult’ is actually seen as a compliment by most. I, genuinely, love it.

I’m not sure why I’m immature; most of the posts this year have been about improving a shit old Sierra, trying to save an Audi for a grieving woman and trying to help my mate into a car when the government saw fit to remove hers.

But, whatever.

Sorry you take objection to my life.

I assume those come attached to two renaults?

To be fair there's a number of "contributors" on here who don't contribute fuck all other than cheap snipes and bitching, I've found myself posting less and less in the last 6 months mostly because of life being busy and having to use my phone to visit the forum and finding I can't be arsed to read though pages of unrelated content that should just stay in ones head and not online.

Regardless of all this we need people like Dave and the recently left Michael to keep posting proper car content before this forum ends up getting named Dadsnet.

Interesting you say that, as Laguna II should for the most part be the current generation of "Autoshite". Cheap because bad reputation for reliability, too old (and French) to be desirable and decreasing at a fast rate. Also I (and others) find your threads interesting.

My MGB is probably far less "Autoshite", as it's plentiful and common still. Also still desirable and popular. However I carry on posting as others are interested. Also it's useful for me in learning how to run and maintain an old car. Something I've become interested in recently and love learning about.

The great thing about this forum and people who frequent it all have a wide range of interest in cars. So pretty much all threads about cars are welcome here. I bet if someone came on here and posted about a extremely expensive exotic supercar and running it, there would be an enthusiastic and interested response by many here.

Look at the likes on Skizzer's Lotus, hardly shite in the traditional sense.

Alas, just the one.

And there appears to be 3 potential lengths for each side ( as is to be expected, they're different lengths and routes on each side)
