We got back from there last Thursday, after a week away. We were quite taken with the place, and wish we'd had our hire car for more than three days for exploring. What sort of price have you paid off-peak, then? Ours ended up around £1800 for a week for two adults, fully inclusive, with sea-view room, and airport parking lobbed in. Didn't think it was too bad.

we're off to look at a place for sale later with a small 2up/2down house on the front,a barn which will convert into a cracking 3 or 4 bedroom place znd just over 2 acres of fenced in pasture

up for £2000 but seller will reduce to sell.....

Cheap houses but you're essentially living in the third world.

Indeed. My colleague who's in his early 50s was thinking about buying a place in Bulgaria to retire to. Very cheap, but then he realised there is pretty much fuck-all healthcare available, especially for non-natives.

Not such a fun idea retiring there now, is it?

We didn't buy over here with the mindset of OmgWotIf.......we moved to a place where everything is significantly cheaper than the UK

We've taken on temporary citizenship which opens up a lot of opportunities, including signing up to the Bulgarian health service and from what I've seen and heard so far it's every bit as good as the NHS

And it costs 17lev (£8) a month for the full healthcare...how much is your National Insurance?

The wife works for a large pharmaceutical company online which has allowed her to drop down to a 3 day week

I'm not working but full-time diy and

house husband

Stress levels have plummeted, general heath has improved for both of us due to the reduced sugar and salt intake from eating decent local food

If the worst were to happen it's a 3 hour flight back to the UK,which compares with the average wait for an ambulance over there I believe

If you're going to just sit around waiting for things to happen,or not "just incase" life will pass you by and one day you'll wake up alone,in a shit job stuck in a shit town and wonder what the fuck happened to you......

1st pic was outside when it got to -18 for a week

Others show the as it has been since early June, with a good few storms thrown in

Proper weather, not that damp all year round shite that the UK does so well

We are going to Lanzarote in late November  for a week to look at some properties,We are also planning on next summer a week in feuterventura, getting the ferry over to player blanca spending a week there, then a drive to puerto del carmen for a week. Then drop the car at the airport and home.

Stupid cactus, drivers door/window seal was a bit loose. Banged it back down and hopefully it's a one off.

Quite, one bid in the last 5 seconds, or use a bid sniper, by bidding early you end up pushing the price up.

Obviously you're both right. No idea why I did.

Doesn't matter anyway as I think auto trader has come up trumps again.

Why does Loctite suddenly cost £10/ml? OK I suspect the last time I bought some was 5 or 6 years ago but I'm sure it was only a few quid.

Have a look on Amazon, it was quite cheap there last time I bought some

3 hours for an ambulance, o rly? The UK has a lot of problems and clearly Bulgaria is beautiful and the cost of living is cheap but it's not for everyone. How many of us can work online or afford to not work?

Good god. Were you on Lanzarote when you found it, or was it on a sales website?

You've just made me wonder how long I could get away with "working from home" in a different country.

I've just been into the office after three weeks of avoiding it. Nobody even batted an eyelid.

It'd be cheaper to live in Bulgaria and just book a couple of nights in a hotel once every fortnight, and some cheap flights

I'm thinking this more and more, I hardly need to go in to the office at all these days.   Even most of my meetings are conference calls with people in God-forsaken parts of the world so why do I need to be in the office each day?

Having to spend 120 quid to buy 2 new tyres for a car I give back in 6 weeks. I probably should have replaced them a last month to be fair.

Part worns?

I had a look but couldn't find anything in that size for a price that would justify it.

Today I followed an "auto dismantlers" truck with two cars on the back presumably going to meet their maker.

A mint looking N reg 306 5dr in quite a high spec and an 04 Fiesta, again spotless.

It genuinely saddened me that what looks like a perfectly good car is going for scrap to be replaced by a bloody Mokka or some such crap.

What the hell are we doing that for?

You might say the car industry supports jobs but most of those jobs are in Korea and I'd much rather have a mechanic gainfully employed here than a salesman or a finance manager.

Strangely I wasn't bothered about the Fiesta despite it being an even bigger waste.

Do Renault torsion bar beams suffer so badly?

Probably not, as the electrics will have given up first.

Ex colleague of mine fell for a girl from Sofia who had come over to assist with the 'best shoring' process.  Shortly afterwards he agreed a working from home arrangement.

Think he made it to five years before his boss realised that he no longer lived in Peterlee.

Brilliant effort!
