I will just leave this here though. Our Shitefest at Stonton motor museum in 2010 and the happy bunch, John's on the far right.

I can't believe how much Pog looks like an Eros Centre rent boy.

It was the very least I could do, we had some good laughs, the first time we really met was back in 2010 when I had a crash on my way to view a car in Nottingham, he messaged me on here to offer to run me there the following day to view it in his stunning Sierra, since then we have spent a lot of time together at shows and at the club meets I run as well as all the help he gave me when I had my Cortina.

I took him to BL Day this time last year in my Dolomite and he took me to Gaydon in his amazing Cortina which really was the love of his life, I think it's probably the best Cortina in the country now.

I found this photo earlier from SF12 when we done the quiz, what a great laugh we had!.

I've never been to a shitefest - this photo tells me I should.

55. Fucking hell. That's me in five short years.

Sort of lost a bit of enthusiasm for shite and classics in general over the past year or so. I first noticed it at the Bromley Pageant last year where I found myself bored quite quickly, and then the NEC Classic where I zipped about in record time. I think it's no longer finding the little gems that make it worthwhile, as often I've seen it all before. I'm frantically searching for some usable 4 door classic that I can confidently put my 1 year old in, that'll start on a winters morning, and will reignite my passion for cars. Also, no fucker seems interested in the Renault 5.

Edit. Crikey, just read what preceded my post. So sad.

I feel the same Alex. I'm putting it down to the complete lack of time with an 11 month old. Even if I do get a couple of hours I find by the time I've thought of starting the time has gone.

Hell I rarely even get to browse on here now.

That said I'm looking forward to BL day.

So very sad to hear about John's illness and current situation. When the time does come I am sure that he will go in the best way possible.

I have no doubt that there will be a suitable late 70's/early 80's Ford waiting for him to take a spin in.

Kind thoughts and best regards Sir.

Just calling in quickly to pay my respects to John (so I'd greatly appreciate no derailments) - a bloody good well-respected member who contributed a lot and clearly allowed his passion for cars to shine through. I'm not religious so I can't offer much, but life can be extremely unfair, so if there's one thing to learn from his example it is that you should always pursue your passion as you never know when it could be cut short. When you pick up an old Ford range brochure, make sure to have a think about our old friend John.

I hate tailgaters. I was doing the speed limit. So yesterday i gave the twat in a 57 reg Hyundai Santa Fe or whatever it was a cloud of diesel clag off a roundabout on a 60 mph road. S/he kept their distance after that!

Not all Nissan Almeras are driven by doddery old farts!

I shall indeed raise a glass and a copy of Ford Cars 1982 tonight for Oldford. Sad times.

We had them over here about two weeks ago. A film crew turned up at the local park and failed to lock the height restriction behind them. Suddenly there were 20 caravans and white vans on the park. Took the council about a week to remove them. Various rumours of a wedding or a funeral, but there were "encampments" all over this area for a couple of weeks.

These have paid to use the showground, and there are many of them who aren't causing trouble... But 3 farmers have had their fields broken into for the overspill, the parks wreckedetc. Facebook is full of hand wringers, people up for war and the pikeys themselves. It's quite funny to watch...

Ive bought evas bike in, she'd be heartbroken if that gets lifted

Oh fucking joy. More body shite to contend with.

Hospital doc says possible heart failure.

Have blood test results for prostate this week.

Fucking yay.

I have leaking pitting odema on my calf. That's interesting.

Heartbreaking news, I don't have any words that could offer even the slightest bit of comfort at this time.

Hope you are on the mend soon Ken. Sounds like a shit run of things.

My grump is far less serious, I dreamt that I owned a silver Renault 21 estate and woke up disappointed that I don't own a silver Renault 21 estate.

I don't often post in this thread, but sad to hear the news about John. It was great to see him and the Cortina at Shotley recently, even though he clearly wasn't well.

SUV? It's a 4x4 or pick-up.

MPV? Big estate car or hatchback.

Crossover? Stupid wank estate car on steroids.

I wouldn't pay much attention to what Honest John says, they haven't got much idea about classic cars and what is and isn't one (similar to CCW really).

Best of luck with the health issues Ken.

I have a piece of string here. I'm not sure how long it is.

Similar best wishes on the recovery front, Ken.

Thing is, I remember when I first saw a Streetwise and I thought, what are they jumping on that bandwagon for...yet another car jacked up and covered in plastic ala XC70 and A6 Allroad...'Ahead of it's time' is a bit of a stretch, more like 'late to the party' from what I can remember...
