The tax expired on that Escort two weeks ago which almost coincides with it turning up in this private carpark behind some shops.

I'm not sure what is going on here - I've been a contributor for many years and crossed swords with no one. there have been a few spam attacks of recent, I presume this is connected ?

My wife just lapsed into a whirlwind of swearing, violent fury when she noticed that Heart Xmas is already available on Sky.

Heart Xmas?

Anne and Nancy doing cheesy christmas songs?

Sellouts.

Global megadeath set against a new screen for a Ford Escort...

Do you think your priorities may possibly be a little skewed?

I loved Megadeath when I was a teen, brilliant band. No idea what's happened to them these days.

It's an IP ban, and if you're on everyday run of the mill broadband your IP changes every few days, out of a pool shared with thousands of people in your area.

So there's every chance someone nearby-ish has pissed them off and you've chanced onto the address they were using at the time. You could try unplugging your broadband for a minute to get it to generate a new IP address, but they might have blocked a range of them.

Which is all very nice but according to the screen shot they are on 3G, so the home router won't change much.

My mobile has a block on tinypic saying the ipadress has a ban for improper use (which I haven't done) but is fine on the home broadband so maybe try a going on via wi-fi.

Ok, same applies but instead of unplugging just toggle aeroplane mode for a bit.

If that doesn't work, they've blocked a range which is a pretty stupid thing to do so probably just drop them an email and explain that it's not a fixed IP

sorry, that all got a bit too technical there - I'll try turning my phone off and on again and see what happens

cheers lads :)

MrsD only ever fills up when the light is flashing...and popped £10 of diesel in her Yaris without realising and drove it till it died... yes I know there is probably a joke in there somewhere about her being used to the nozzle not fitting..... she rang the RAC who said yes we can fix it but it will cost £200...... 200 fucking quid !!! luckily she had the sense to ring me first... went over with a jerry can of petrol got it running and drove it to the petrol station to fill it up..... Its fine now but I will change the fuel filter which is a fiver.....

He said she put £10 of diesel in. He never said how much went on the floor.

I've seen a woman do exactly this in the past, although more fuel went up the side of the car than in it before all the pumps were shutdown......

Everyone but me probably already knows this, but apparently Green Flag don't charge for miss-fuelling .

Sister in law filled up my Brother's VW T5 with petrol, they got the same price from the RAC then remembered they'd got Green Flag with a bank account.

Its really annoying as I would image all breakdown services carry petrol.... no doubt there is some sensor/ cat related, where there is blame there is a claim, reason they couldn't just do what I did and add 20 litres of petrol but as she drove it until it died I would image any damage would have already been done...Anyway it started and got her to work this morning so all good...

And if a patrol had done that, and it subsequently went bang, most people would claim against the recovery company for a new engine.............

It looks as if the local mine that I enjoy exploring is going to get sealed off because someone thought it was a good idea to explore it with a phone torch. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/local/fife/307800/friends-feared-trapped-in-abandoned-mine-were-exploring-labyrinth-of-pitch-black-tunnels/

That's rubbish!folks should take proper care and responsibility for themselves..

Fucking puncture this morning on way to work!

Tyre flat as a fart 100m down road, was fine last night at about 9pm then this morning it's nearly broke the bead it's that flat. Either it's some glass I've run over or some scrotes been at it. Excuse for new tyres then I think.

Grin/grump here I think: grin is dropped the Kia of for its MOT and the guy wanted me to leave it with them fine by me if someone runs me up to the garage, which the MOT tester did in my car, got there and the new jumpleads worked a treat and the old girl fired up sweet as...

Grump!

I was a bit flustered (the dogs were arsing around complaining about being in the car without going somewhere for them to have a walk) and I'd hurt myself lugging the spare battery around etc, so I promptly went and reversed the car into the corner of the garage door! Not a 'lot' of damage, but damage there is and it ain't gonna polish out, only the bumper but still...

Oh and I've lost my E-cig and I have no idea how, where or when.

The quotes in that article make me wonder about the future of humanity:

David, of Glenrothes, said: “Me and Aidan didn’t want to stick to the string and we wandered off, we wanted to explore.

“We didn’t think it was as big as it was.

The pair, who work at nearby Kettle Produce, were underground for two hours and realised they had lost their way in the final 30 minutes.

But David said: “We knew we’d get back out, we had plenty of phone battery left.†- great so you could play angry birds until you were found
---
David’s mother Jackie Kettrick, of Leslie, read about the incident on Facebook before realising her son was involved.

She said: “It was pitch black down there and they had no phone signal. I think he was probably more shaken up than he let on. - no phone signal, that's the worst part they couldn't update their facebook status to 'lost'

There are about eleventy billion ways to die horribly in a mine be it old and abandoned or new and working.

After moving from mining into construction I was astonished to see all manner of people blatantly ignoring no entry signs - do that underground without the right kit and you'll be deader quicker than you can say it.

Grump:

If you are a shop that sells say TV's and have lots of TV's on display with signs indicating that, in exchange for pennies one could walk out the door with one why in the name of (insert deity here) would you have TV's on display with no stock to sell?

3 times I have tried to buy a TV and I have been thrice denied:

"we have none in stock sir"

"OK, how much for the display model?"

"Oh we can't sell you that sir, it is our display model"

"Why are you displaying a TV for sale when you don't actually have any?"

Spins theatrically and flounces out of door.

When I was on recovery a few years ago (07) one of the lads brought in a nearly new BMW X5 diesel with a full tank of petrol but hadn't been started,

We offered to drain and fill with 20ltrs of derv for £250.

Guy said no as "it's under warranty" so it'll have to go to bmw in the morning for them to do "under warranty".

A few days later he called back in to us to say he wished he'd taken our offer as bmw pulled his pants down and butfucked him to the tune of nearly £4000, new fuel tank, lines, pump and filters etc.

Not covered under warranty apparently.

Who'd have thought it eh??

£250 sounds very reasonable to me. If you've even so much as used the remote locking it primes the fuel lines on some cars so it can be a bit of a job to flush it all out.
