The grumpy thread

The Spanish have only yes is yes law. That has not been taken into account by the English press. Although that law does not actually cover kissing it has influenced one sides stance.

The kiss subject matter could well have it's own thread. There are a number of discussions in Spanish on social media and expat forums in English.

So leave it in the Spanish media spotlight and the UK can forget about it then. But it won't "because football".

A few weeks ago a Sedona hit the passenger side wing mirror of my Caddy van, it seemed to take the knock pretty well, just the surround trim clips seemed damaged, I covered it in gaffer tape and thought no more of it. Over the last few days at motorway speeds it had started to vibrate, this was slowly getting worse and really distracting at night seeing lights behind me shaking around, so rather than risk it falling off I thought I'd have a proper look earlier.

After careful removal of the gaffer tape and trim this happened - oh bollocks.

Quick blast down the local dual carriageway and solid as a rock.

Just got to wait for some bugger to push it in to get past in a car park now, I think I'd better order a new one, about £70 all in on ebay, I don't think thats too bad for an electric heated mirror the size of Dumbo's ears.

OK - riddle me this.

2.2 Hdi Pug Boxer.
2.2 TD4 FreeLander

Suspiciously similar looking hardware under the bonnets but - FreeLoader fuel filter circa £20, Pug Boxer £75?

WTF? Thanks Mr PSA

I remember pricing up the Stop Solenoid on a Lucas DPC pump

Identical for Puegeot, Rover  Citroën, Ford, VW, Land rover, etc.

Prices from £35 to £65.

I wouldn't mind, but I'd previously had 20 in my draw at work, because I'd been working on the replacement "smart solenoid" and we'd had a fact finding trip to our French Sister company in La Rochel, where they made them.  They showed us the costings. €3.50 standard cost, €8.00  spares price to the manufacturer.

Saw a Mk2 Cavalier estate earlier, pretty rare car to see on the roads these days, followed it for a bit and we came to a stop at some traffic lights, oh time to grab a quick pic for the folk on AS - bloody camera focused on the bug splatters and reflection from my windscreen - FML.

Shite colour though, minty!

Yea it was a strange colour, a very pale yellow, far to pale for the Jamaica yellow of the time so probably had a colour change.

IIRC it was an original one, no idea what it was called

I wonder if Prince Andrew has asked William about the possibility of replacing him as FA President.

Normally when I am offshore, I am God (I actually allow God to sit at my right hand) but this job because there is so much riding on it, the office decided to send a staff engineer out. He has made it very clear that he is in charge as I am a dayrate scumbag, and he has 3 or 4 trips as a rep, none of which rockdumping, so clearly outweighs my 35 years experience. So far he has cost two and a half days of vessel time. It has no affect on me, but I still feel I am not doing my job.

If I kill him and throw the body over the side weighted down so it is never found, if there is no body there cannot be a crime, no?

we always had an "expert" hanging around in the care system , in one place the "expert" cost a chap his house and wife ,

in the next place the expert had been there years and was as thick as shit , but the sun shined out of his arse , we eventually just left him to it , if he was in the room , we were not , if it got bad we all went off sick and left him to it .

lots of them "experts" around !!

One of my Google accounts won't let me in.  Given the option of sending a code to my phone, it won't and says that that is not the number on record, then ten minutes later sends a message to that phone to say I have been locked out.

The other two accounts, that use the same phone, have no problems and do send alerts and codes.

Uh oh... Cut out at some lights and wouldn't start again. Managed to push it into a car park. I'm suspecting fuel starvation.

Now all sorted, the cable that ran to the coils from the electronic ignition kit was rubbing on the fan and broke the cable. The lovely man at the RAC managed to use a some spare bullet connectors from when I wired in my radio the other day and fixed it (for now) He also tightened the belt up for me. I will resolder and fix it properly when I get a chance.

I have found another automotive ninth circle of hell to go with KV6 timing belts and volvo V70 handbrake cables.

The offside rear spark plug on the BMW N62 engine.

Ah good old offshore life where a onshore desk monkey “thinks” they know best and everything, for me I just sight and revel in the moment when the f**k up massively but sadly usually have to fix said f**k up .

It's standard in Brum and Black Country but not when you drift out of that area

As with so many things round here - for the past two millennia or so - the boundary seems to be Watling Street.

So this happened.

Must have been last night, but I didn't hear anything despite the car being parked right outside my window.  Obviously someone's passed too close and clipped it.

Fortunately minimal panel damage.

Fixed* it.

I don’t understand what peoples fascination is with swapping things these days, I thought we’d left the feudal system behind.
