I did the same when I discovered where my neighbour had been hiding his dog’s shit.

Fag ends can burn fences, though. Ask me how I know.

I wish the answer was yes as they are scumbag cowboys the lot of them. However, I ignored a Parking Eye once and they took me to court.

I think they have to be a bit nicer than they used to be so it could be that if you explain the situation then you may be let off. I think there is also now a rule that the promise of a 50% discount has to apply to the time AFTER you have raised a dispute. So don’t be scared in to paying early just to get the 50% discount because you can still appeal. Firstly to them and the to some sort of parking ombudsman.

You are a permit holder so in my eyes they are paid to look after people with permission park. I’m sure their warped little brains see it differently!

At least waste a bit of their time and money.

God I hate them!

Never. If you do, it will eventually end up as a CCJ against you, possibly with interest and bailiffs.

Parking contractors rarely if ever reverse their penalties (unless it's their own staff or staff families), so appeal via the POPLA process.

As people are talking about wifi, I read on a thread on here a while ago that a lot of problems are caused by the shite routers that the providers give you.

I've bought a wifi6 router and am getting over 100mbps and even over 50 right at the bottom of the garden.

Screenshot_20210529-111801_Opera.thumb.jpg.d0bea1726527080f9cb575934e6fca9b.jpg

I can't remember who's advice I read but thank you. Its made a huge difference for work as I had to switch to a wired connection most days running it through the house but its working brilliantly now.

The router wasn't cheap at £170, I'm sure there were cheaper options but I wanted one easy to set up for someone as dumb as me and future proof, hence the wifi6 (even though I don't know what that is, i might've just bought into snake oil).

I'm tempted to upgrade my router but instead I run a second access point upstairs from an old x64 tablet PC that's connected via ethernet to the router.  Solves most of the issues in my house for the price of free.  Granted, a better router and location thereof can solve a lot of issues.

WiFi 6 is fair enough.  It's bastard fast in theory but it depends on whether your laptop will support it.  802.11n (2.4GHz) is fine for most people most of the time.  WiFi 6 (802.11ax) is an upgrade of 802.11ac (WiFi 5) that runs on 5GHz.  Certainly won't do any harm having a router that supports it.

This.  If you have a permit you are, well, permitted to park there actually.  Permit not displayed through no fault of your own.

Yeah, my thinking was that if I'm going to buy a router I may as well future proof it so that I don't need to buy another in a couple of years, even if I don't quite understand what I'm protecting myself against.

My dad was here last week and his phone would only get 50mbps compared to double on mine when we were sat right next to each other, which I guess might be down to wifi6 connection as my phone is probably a fair bit newer and fancier than his.

We can also use the telly in the pornservatory and the PS4 stays connected too, which results in less moaning from the lad.

I really don't get personalised* plates. Bob the builder's screecher has "N11K   FT", which you can sort of work out if you know her name is Nikki, and she's very fat.

He's just put one on the new pikey truck "Y   B11G   VZ". Struggling to connect the dots on this one. So his m8s can say "why big viz? your name's Carl you dozy cunt".

Someone I know bought a private plate for their car , I failed to notice , even when it was pointed out to me , nope no idea

Say the original reg was JX12 DCF

The new reg was DS12 DPS

For some insurers maybe but I have just cancelled daughters policy within the 14 day period with Hastings as it had auto renewed and she never checks her email, no charge and a full refund, its usually the cheapest shittiest insurers who pull the above stunt.

It's too bloody warm! I've just spent nearly an hour fannying about with wheels on the Volvo trying to find a matching* pair to replace the two spares I had on the front as one had a sizeable chunk out of the sidewall.

After trying to inflate what felt like every bastarding tyre in the unit I found two the same size that similar amounts of tread and held air. They're lower profile than anything I'd fit on purpose but they'll do for now.

I have a set of nearly new tyres that'll fit the 15" alloys but they're currently on pug 307 wheels. I will have to bother the guy in the unit next door for a shot of his tyre machine next time I see him.

It's the broker that's charging the fee

I've been stung by this multiple times by the bigger insurers (Admiral, Firstcentral). Slimy bastards.

The 2CV is JDM suffix. My mum’s name is jean Dorothy Morris. It’s original to the car. Does it make it a personalised plate? She can’t drive by the way.

Its why I left the ADV Himalayan forum. There must be hundreds of "What tyre/oil/tappet gaps/auxiliary lights/ engine bars are best?" on it.

Pissed me off immensely. Too many fucking self proclaimed "experts" on there for me.

I run my house WiFi off this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TP-Link-TL-WR802N-1-port-Wireless-Cable-Router-/111685800152?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 and it's grand. My speed isn't mega fast so it's not the bottleneck, it sits in 'hotel mode' and spits WiFi out of an eithernet cable from my switch (on a static ip and dhcp turned off but only recently and it worked fine before doing its own thing, ive got my pihole as the dhcp server)

Lucky coincidence?

When I was a student a gimp got a car with JAZ on it, and then spent the rest of the year trying to convince everyone to call him Jaz to match the car. Didn't work, they all called him jizz instead.

Pure coincidence- it was bought from a family friend ( he had it from his mum who bought it from the first owner at a year old). Previous owners dad had several Citroen CXs new, including a very early P reg.

Looks like a useful little thing.  To go into a bit more detail, I have a TP-Link router under the stairs, as that’s where my fibre comes in (FTTP).  That usually does surprisingly well considering the placement.

For work though I have to have Ethernet (VOIP Phone upstairs).  So I have a pair of TP-Link Powerline adapters.  I then have a little 5-port switch upstairs too (that feeds into a docking station for Ethernet over USB) and an old Dell tablet that I use the Fedora WiFi hotspot sharing on.  I only usually need to use it under some conditions but I haven’t quite figured out why my WiFi drops out yet.

I’ve done a factory restore on the router lately and that’s massively improved things and my connection usually failed on channel 6 (plus the router reported as being Turkish when I checked the detail) so I suspect the channel is just different enough for my MacBook Pro’s (2013 Model)  WiFi card to not like it.  Always been fine on my ThinkPads...

Sounds a decent setup, I ran a dirt cheap set of power line adapters for a few years before finally spending a weekend running a cat5 cable through the entire house!

My router sits in the loft (4g job) and it's signal is pretty good until you get to the edge of the front room, so I've got the tp link doing that job instead with the loft WiFi off.

Everything else sits nailed to the back of my desk. I got pihole set up the other day and that's given everything an amazing speed boost just by blocking lots of shit

Eventually I'll do something like that with a PiHole or similar.  I don't really want to run Cat5 around everywhere, it's just not worth it in my house but my office is something of a Faraday cage (can't even got SW Radio in here, can elsewhere in the house) so even before I needed the VOIP phone I was considering Powerlines.  It helps that the house is a new-build (about the only time it helps) so the wiring is new and not knackered, so the powerlines are more than quick enough.

I honestly think 4G routers are great solutions for a lot of people, although I did come across a situation the other day at work where Virgin had blocked WebRTC on a 4G connection.  Took me a while to troubleshoot why they couldn't use one of the the online collaboration platforms we run and then figured it out.   Somewhat less than ideal but it made me feel like Billy BigBollocks because the specialist platform team had been scratching their head for at least a week on that one...

Had to have a drugs test for cop job today at a specialist testing facility.

Basically a simple urine sample and an instant result, clever stuff.  However on  arrival I didn’t need to go.  Several glasses of water later, and a walk in the cold to look at a river helped and I headed back for the test.

Was then informed it was a monitored test meaning they had to watch.  So today I enjoyed pissing in a cup while being watched by a woman in her sixties.  Some people would pay/charge good money for that.

Celebrated getting that out of the way by visiting a chiropractor to have another go at my back.  He is quite direct and believes if something is out of line it doesn’t need gentle manipulation, it needs slamming back into place.  After our last session where I tensed up prior to being punched he came up with a new idea - bag over my head.  So now I am pinned down with a bag on my head knowing a severe punch is coming from somewhere but can’t tell where and when.  It did work but I found myself thinking “Rich, if someone said to you in June 2020 that 12 months from now you would be 12000 miles from home pissing in front of an old woman before paying someone to beat you up, would you have considered that to be preferable to being a salesman for a bunch of wankers?”

You know what, it’s a close run thing but I probably would have taken the bag over the head and the beating

Hopefully it'll have died down by the time you get back from work?
