Some bastard hacked my ebay/Paypal/Amazon accounts this PM and made some purchases this afternoon so have spent the last few hours sorting that little mess out 

TSB - perfect, cards stopped, blocks on a few dodgy transactions, time taken 5 minutes

Paypal - perfect, filled in a form, transactions on hold, time taken 2 minutes

Ebay - perfect, contacted seller to explain, all okay : somewhat foolishly the buyer pretending to be me had sent a message to the seller through eBay asking them to send it to a new address. The seller messaged them back (also sent to my Gmail account as well) advising it'll go to the address on the account but didn't disclose the address - luckily they haven't sent it yet, but muppet very kindly provided his address. Argos catalogues on their way

Amazon - fucknuggets. Clearly an offshore call centre - had spotted three transactions on my TSB account, two for the same amount, all to Amazon (one a token £1 probably pre-authorisation) Agent checked and stated only one order since my last legitimate order - asked them to check again. And again. They confirmed they could stop the one order as it hadn't left the warehouse. Great. Asked them again, to please double check as there were two debits on my TSB account for the same amount. No, no, all okay, one order, and I've stopped it. Wasn't until I managed to get into the account online that there had indeed been TWO orders and one had been delivered today (handed to me in person apparently), the second order (the one she stopped) where the blagger realised he'd fucked up and added his address (this time an address somewhere else - I sense more Argos catalogues on their way). He'll get nowt. Neither will Amazon as TSB have already stopped the payments. Anyway, checked my Amazon safe place, and sure enough, a nice shiny new digital camera in there. FFS. All boxed up and ready to go back tomorrow.

What a fucking ballache. Anyway, all bases covered, all passwords changed, crisis averted - thankfully the hacker(s) were as thick as pigshit and fucked up not once but twice.

A grump of my own making, or maybe not. 

Had a Civic I'd bought to sell, mentioned it to an old  bodywork friend of mine and he asked if he could buy it, seeing I know him we agreed a good price and a day he was going to collect. Sorted, as I mentioned, I've known this guy for years and we've helped each other out on various projects over the years, he's lent me tools and trailers and generally been a great help in my shite activities. I was really doing myself out of money on this Civic, but there you go.

The day before he was due to collect I messaged him asking to let me know when he was showing up, no response. Got out of bed early the next day especially to deal with said Civic (I work nights), no message, no show, maybe he'd changed his mind? who knows. Anyway, I left it a day and as I needed it gone I advertised it on Facebook. It sold the following day for the asking price, £200 more than i'd offered it to my mate.  I suspect my mate saw the advert on Facebook as he sent me a message an hour after the guy had left telling me he could collect it the next day.. or the day after that...

I explained that as he never contacted me or collected when arranged that i'd sold the Civic to someone else and I figured he'd had second thoughts. I never got a response from him and he's ignored subsequent messages. 

I seem to have lost a mate (who maybe wasn't much of a mater after all)  but to complicate things he's meant to be repairing the front panel from my Volvo 145, or maybe he's not repairing it now, or maybe he's chucked it in the scrap pile. Perhaps he's going to repair it and charge me well over the odds as some sort of retaliation. The bottom line is i'm probably going to have to go up and repossess my own property as i'm not sure what he's going to do with it.

Just re-read this post to myself and it sounds proper pathetic doesn't it? Especially compared to some of the other more serious grumps. First world problems etc etc.

I had someone who wanted to buy the cortina. They left a deposit then couldn’t come for it after 2 weeks as they’d forgotten it was their daughters birthday. Okay .

i messsge them the next week and no response even though I can see their iPhone is getting the message (I.e it’s on). Another weekend comes and goes so I message them again saying you need to have a plan in place in 24hrs or I’m putting it back up for sale. Exactly 24hrs later I get a message, I’ve had an accident and I’m in hospital I can maybe pick it up this weekend . This may be genuine but red flags are waving so I just told him to forget it. I’ve had no response .

this is twice this has happened to me I think in excitement they drop a deposit then the realisation of picking it up or getting the money dawns and they start stalling . 

It happened with the Cadillac , the guy sent a deposit after pressing bin then when I heard nothing and chased him he said “well I should be back in the uk from the Alps in a couple of weeks”.  Ffs

Went to head off to work this morning and I couldn't get my front door open - the lock (Mortice) wouldn't budge.  Don't know WTF is wrong with it, didn't really have time to investigate.  Had to leave via the patio doors, which was awkward as the Spacy was parked right up against them.  I'm going to have to try and fix it tonight, rather than looking at pornography on the internet like I was planning to do.

Amy and the kids came home from shopping on Tuesday, turned the key to unlock the door and as it unlocked the barrel fell apart internally! Landlord had a locksmith round who said they were damn lucky it happened as it unlocked! They wouldn't have got in through the front door too as the porch was full of crap as we never use the front door! 

Awaiting a new lock now, porch is empty, back door gets locked by the bolt only for now

After the recent HGF on the 80,000 mile Chevrolet Tacuma (Daewoo re badged) I have finally got it all back together and running. New gasket set, head bolts, new timing belt, idlers, tensioner, waterpump etc. One gasket doesn't come with the new set for some reason. The one for the EGR water cooled manifold block thingy. Old gasket looked ok so re used it with some RTV black sealant. Left it to cure for a couple of days then filled up with coolant. Ten mile shakedown run today and everything looked good. Coolant level checked and down by half a litre ish. Topped up, another few miles done and coolant level down. Bugger. Wisps of steam and drips from the bodged gasket. That will teach me then. New gasket needed. No idea what to order. The engine is a GM (Vauxhall obv) 2.0 litre 16v X20SED I believe. Must have been different versions of the EGR water cooled manifold and trawling ebay/the internet has been no use so far! Leak got bigger. Car parked up and out if use again until I find out what the name/number of the gasket is to order one. Grumpy.

Bugger, it's always a worry when you get the call from the Mot tester asking if you know where he can get some more yellow chalk as he's just run out and had to abandon the test.

Paint the underside yellow. That would mean the tester has to nip out for some darker chalk. You could then dash over to the computer whilst he/she is out attempting to buy black chalk, pass the car with 'No Advisories' whilst the tester is still logged in and drive off chortling. Happy in the knowledge that your car is now perfectly safe* for another year!  If feeling particularly impish you could adjust the mileage downwards a touch whilst you were in then clock the odometer accordingly. Maybe...

A moderately spirited drive over the hills last night has confirmed that the Forester's going to be needing a new clutch rather sooner than later. A little bit of slippage, I can deal with - but juddering on every gearshift is not cool.

Typically, EuroCarPrats is of limited assistance in narrowing down exactly what's needed as the 'fitment detail' tabs are rather sparsely populated - but I can probably fucking guess which is the only version that fits mine...

Spent ages looking for an opticians that was miles from where Google maps thought it was then coupdn't enter due to air fresheners and other stinkies - same as yesterday in Chester-Le-Street.

Did find one and have made an appointment.

Went to Lidl for my shopping and got talking to a bloke my age with a 16 year old MX-5 that looks like it just came out of the showroom - he did say he was a bit OCD with it.

Didn't do any shopping in Lidl and may be getting a £90 fine for exceeding the 90 minute parking time allowed - never usually more than 10 minutes

Did my shopping in Aldi, came home and knocked the pint of cream off the bench, which naturally exploded all over the kitchen and my best clothes.

I find going to.the main dealer and asking them to order the correct part is the start of an interesting process with.GM parts

What happens is they say, its not available.

Ask them to check all GM stock in Europe. 

Then ask them the part number. 

Then put the part number into google amd find out it fits a holdon malou and is available in australia and south africa. 

Phone Holden dealer in Oz and convince them to send one air mail. 

Them smash up the car into a tree

Don’t fit those Transmech clutches. I’d go for Valeo, LUK or Sachs.

After HackerCaperGate yesterday normality has returned although as per, I had to do all the running for Amazon UK.

They didn't cancel the order for the Liverpool-bound camera, so it left their warehouse this morning, FFS. Thankfully I was able to cancel the thing in transit before the Flex guy knocked on the door of the shyster.

What's the betting the thing gets lost in transit on the way back ?

Meanwhile the laptop ordered on eBay did turn up this morning, but the seller got in touch, very understanding and confirmed I should start the return process. Paypal (now also in my shitlist) declined my fraudulent claim advising me it was not an unauthorised payment. Twats. At least it was on a 14 day pay after delivery thing, so no harm done.

I also returned the camera erroneously sent by the shyster to me - dropped round to the local My Hermes Parcel Shop. Yeah, like that'll end well....

Ho hum - good news is no more unusual activity, we are on lockdown (and luckily one credit card escaped the meltdown as its details weren't anywhere online, so at least I have plastic fantastic whilst replacement bank card gets here)

That is why I never save my card details on my profile on any websites.  It's a bit of a faff having to type everything in every time, but better than the alternative.

 

Got my front door open after a bit of judicious* jiggling of the key in the lock.  I'm going to leave it unlocked now and just lock the inner door - there's nothing much worth nicking in the porch / shed and I don't exactly live in a high crime area.  I'll pop into Timpsons tomorrow and see if they can rustle me up a key.

I’m still waiting for a replacement book from Amazon that was supposedly handed to me in person last Saturday. Happily the original lost delivery turned up on the doorstep on Friday. Despite it being signed for by me on Wednesday ( whilst I was at work).

First book, didn’t arrive last Wednesday despite tracking saying it was delivered at 2pm to my doorstep.  I complained and they said they would send a replacement.

before the replacement was supposed to arrive on Saturday the original ( i presume anyway), arrived on Friday on my doorstep.

on Saturday I had an email that the replacement had been handed to me at 3pm. It hadn’t.

I’ve had drink and am not sure what’s going on, but I have the book I ordered, even if amazon have allegedly send me two.

Consequently browsing what's available is a tedious affair that requires peering at squint potatocam shots of whatever it is to judge if it is even available as an electron-mobile or deciphering title hieroglyphics for clues as to the make, model, etc. For the first offence the perpetrators should be horsewhipped and 2nd offences are punishable with summary seizure and crushing of the vehicle so mislabeled.

 

I was browsing for trailers too, the number of trailers listed as 'trailer' with a single potatocam  shot and no other details was bewildering, is it that much of a bother to run a tape measure around it to give approximate dimensions?

Yeah, basically this. The Exedy one I think is the 'posh' option and are supposed to be good, but not sure what makes twice as expensive as the Valeo one. I think the transmech ones proudly state they used recycled parts and glue new* friction material on or something equally reassuring*

I dont normally have any issue with my hermes, in fact other people of this household have had some parcels delivered by them a couple days ago, if anymore show up im going to tell the delivery driver to ask his m8s to sort their shit out

mind if someone somewhere saw it was a Laptop on an X Ray machine or something and thought they would help themselves, there going to be in for a nasty surprise
