Keep pushing that myth, if it makes you feel good.

I think you may have misunderstood.  I wasn't complaining.  What I used to get called at school for being crap at sport isn't something I want to repeat on here.  Also I'd expect to be called to account if I did.  I was not complaining about not being allowed to say that word.

There's a solution to that, cover them in waxoyl and use engine braking.

I’ll get the compressor out and get the kids Waxoyled tonight then.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to take the pump apart though.

Posted

Went to jack up the Corolla so I could access the sodding crank pulley from underneath . 5 pumps in the jack gives way.

Something else I need to get now. Bother.

Got home and there's two full fat ambulances outside my neighbour's house. Lovely folks, lived here longer than me, and I've been here 21 years.
The words 'heart problems' have been mentioned. :/

Everyone who has been in the street longer than 10 years gets an ambulance eventually.

If you think thats bad, try dealing with them when you've actually paid off the loan*. Took me 4 calls to get that sorted.

When I did my Self Assessment it came through that I was still needing to pay my loan back. Took 6 calls to the HMRC before eventually someone there got it sorted.

Seems like they don't expect you to ever pay it back...

* I (just) was on the older system (changed the year after I started), so I only had ~1k p/a of fees then ~3k p/a of loan. So it was plausible for someone to actually pay it back. Very much feel sorry for those that have 48k+ of loan/tax which they have to repay.

My eldest son paid his off quite quickly and a year later discovered that he had paid double the amount he should have.

He did have the excess refunded but not without a fight.

My older sister had the same fun paying hers off. It's impossible to find anyone with a good word to say about what is a huge multi million pound operation.

They lose a lot of money when people who move abroad don't bother paying, often with the reason it's more effort than it's worth with tales of people teaching English as a foreign language in Asian countries being expected to post shed loads of paperwork to prove their income and bank accounts which then get 'lost' something I can well believe.

Just had my yearly review at work, despite getting a good review it translates into another below inflation pay rise which in other words is a pay cut. I could understand it if the company wasn't doing very well but profits in our section are up 23% this year, this is the Dollar increase if you look at the increase in local currency it's actually 38%, no doubt helped by shafting all their employees. My colleagues are the same and also got below inflation 'rises'.

I'm going to spend the rest of today updating my LinkedIn page and dusting off my CV, sick of their tightness.

Some companies work in a funny way with stuff like this, if you are at the top of the pay scale you get a paltry amount whereas if you are new to that grade you get a hefty rise. Consider yourself lucky you didn’t get a pay cut as I did.

Sorry to hear about your cut, my boss did the usual bit of dangling the carrot of moving up grade again, he does this every year but nothing ever happens.

There's a scrap wagon parked outside the office and although I'm not sure what the car is, it's made me very sad that the red car is on there

We all agreed that it was grandads car, who died 3 months ago and the kids got rid. Made me slightly happier that I wasnt the only person to be sad by that.

What a waste

I think it's an Ibiza. ;)

Facelift though, which makes it look a bit VW to my eye.

I'm grumpy because work expect me to commute to London on a rate waaaaaayy below what I should expect (about £6 or £7 p/h less). I'm not getting on the bloody train with all my gear for nothing to show for it.

Jeremy Vine is a high end ..... (searches mind for something that won't upset the mind police), I think he knows it though. I imagine he's married, fuck knows what kind of level of patience the unlucky lady must have.

FUCKING shitty aluminium step ladders.

Flimsy, noisy, skiddy twats that slide around the place.

Anyone know of somewhere you can still buy a good old skool wooden job?

Posted

Some on Amazon but they look like crap.

My wooden ones were made by my dad, 65 years ago :)Have you looked at fibreglass electricians steps.  Considering some myself as my ally ones have taken up residence with my daughter.

Fucking Yodel fucking incompetent fuckwits couldn't find their own arse with both hands.

Parcel was due for delivery on Monday. I wasn't in. Yodel didn't even leave a card.

I selected to pick it up from the local depot. Their local depot is actually a local courier company under a different name altogether.

I turn up to collect it and the shift supervisor admits that somebody has made a massive cock-up. After only one attempted delivery, somebody has sent the whole lot back to Ebuyer! FFS!

Now I've had to contact Ebuyer and explain it all, asking them to resend it, refund my postage, and give Yodel a stern talking to.

I'm never buying anything from Ebuyer again knowing that they use those fucking chumps for delivery purposes.

They've all ended up in artisan markets, upcycled with chalk paint, sorry about that. (Not sure if I still have one left in the cellar, I'll have a look tomorrow)

Gumtree throws some up sometimes. I do prefer a wooden ladder as well. Just got to check the steps aren’t loose on them otherwise they’re a fucking hazard.
