Fumbler Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 There's a J plate Panda at the dealer/MoT centre down the road and it's been there for 6 months now... might enquire about it!

Sir Chocolate Teapot Posted May 27, 2020 Author Posted May 27, 2020 4x4 vans All for sale, cost lots.
Matty Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 I had a mk1 uno with the 999cc fire engine in at 17. Absolutely brilliant thing. I drove a new (ok 05 ) panda recently with the 1.1 in and it felt so familiar. Same engine note and willingness for revs. Two things fiat have always been good at - engines and small cars

dozeydustman Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Mk1 Pandas are great little motors. Surprisingly capacious for a huge lump like me; even the 750 my brother’s ex had was great; gutless but real fun. No-frills 80s motoring at it’s finest. Last time I went to Spain (2017) still saw a few very early pre-Marbella era Seat Pandas (Essentially the original Fiat version 1 with a Seat badge). The larger Uno is also a great car so if you cannot find a good Panda for a sensible price I’d go Uno
Zelandeth Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Found some photos of our much missed one. L25PAS, I miss you. If I had the choice of any this is basically the exact Panda I'd spec, even down to the colour. I love how the interior was so perfectly matched to the exterior. spartacus Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 I always liked those crazy colours too, is that a metallic green @Zelandeth

A lot brighter than those photos make it look. If I ever find the box with the original negatives in I'll try to get s better scan. Rather than a scan of a cheap photo print from a 1999 era scanner. I get the impression that the rust protection on the later ones was a lot better. Aside from a tiny bleb on one rear wheel arch the body on this one was spotless. Looked like new underneath despite living in Aberdeenshire. spartacus 1
Sir Chocolate Teapot Posted May 28, 2020 Author Posted May 28, 2020 Quick update. Scooter has sold for €850 to 1st viewer. He has paid deposit €50. Now have to wait and sort out nightmare burocracy to change ownership, and hopefully receive the remaining €800 next week some time. The search for panda is serious now. This last week i have noticed that when you start looking for something in particular the pickings get slimmer. A fair few 900cc pandas but not many in budget 1100cc. Distance is a problem in italy as always 2 trips to seller's area needed, 1st to view then a week later both have to visit a gov. Agency to change ownership. Let us see how much budget creep is allowed. I must stick to €1000, i must stick to €1000. Etc. Skizzer and somewhatfoolish 2
jumpingjehovahs Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 I don't know how up to date this listing is, but this one has a number of terrible pictures of a nice looking green Panda which seems to still be up for sale https://www.ooyyo.com/italy/c=CDA01D7114D2854F111BF36FBA26355B7EA01D7AFED0866011102168AF66205ADBA3077137D3/-1165000387503278097.html/#default Sir Chocolate Teapot 1

This 1 is talking to me, but €1300. Only 60k kms. BorniteIdentity, spartacus, rainagain and 4 others 7
jumpingjehovahs Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 That red one is lovely and those seat coverings are amazing, that would be what sold it to me ? Fumbler 1
artdjones Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 When they went out of production the last new price was about £4000,so to get over £1000 for it now is a pretty good depreciation rate. My brother had a 1983 Comfort in black,TTG727Y ,around 1990.This would be when black was just becoming fashionable on BMWs and the like.I remember him being quite chuffed when he cut someone up and was called a yuppie b****** in return. That car went to Berlin and Prague in 1991 and Budapest in 1992 , although it did start drinking oil after the second trip .The 903cc ohv wasn't as strong as the FIRE,also the early rear suspension was just a straight tubular axle on 2 leaf springs,so the handling was inferior to the later ones with the Uno style axle. jon.k Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 I think there's one for sale on retrorides at the moment.
barefoot Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 I worked for a bloke with a Jag, his wife had a 4X4 Sisley which we were out in one day, approaching a fast corner he dropped it from fifth to SECOND. I peeled my eyes from the screen as we exited the bend. I also drove a 903 & a 750, they were OK, both were bouncy with a comedy sharp clutch.

That's a Panda near enough.

Yes, the ride in that was equally horribly bouncy, but the clutch was better! Incidentally, the Sevenhundredi was a hire car on Crete, the tiny FIRE engine made a really odd tingling noise, but it coped well with the admitedly much slower traffic on the Island. I still don't feel any urge to go near another one. I remembered last night reading an ancient Motoring Which? comparison of the Panda & the Citrôen Visa, when they both came out & where the Visa came out the winner. Odd in hindsight considering its relatively short production.
shedenvy Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 This is for sale in Colchester, not overly convenient for Italy admittedly: https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=36008 £500 somewhatfoolish 1
Sir Chocolate Teapot Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 You all know the score. I have not even finalised the sale of scooter and got the money in my hands and then Fate kicks you in the face. So i have been thinking take it slow, no rush, find a good condition well cared for panda. And then what turns up 6kms away in the hills near me. 2002 panda 1.1 hobby, 180000 kms (110k miles). Euro 200. ! Add says the car does work, not much else. Is not a city car, some old mountain bloke has almost killed it. We are all suckers for a sad case. Going to view it tomorrow morning. Hopefully no rust. Parts and engines should be cheap in italy right ? Why am i so excited about this. He did say bring jump leads, always a good sign ! I think this model has electric windows. shedenvy, BorniteIdentity, BeEP and 2 others 5
hairnet Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 so the late italian ones have airbag? for 200 yo just go and buy it itll be more as bits
twosmoke300 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Sorry to hijack the thread but if anyone has a set of rocker gear from a 903 ohv panda I have monies waiting .
Sir Chocolate Teapot Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 46 minutes ago, hairnet said: so the late italian ones have airbag? for 200 yo just go and buy it itll be more as bits The problem here is the cost of changing owners. For a panda will be between €300/400 euros i think ! At buyers expense.. A rust bucket is just not worth it. Neither is a parts car.
