Manage his time, adjust to changing priorities, not stupid, can work a tacho card, numbers of points on what licences.

Apols if this is not the correct place for this. There was a thread a couple of months back where a shiter was collecting a Honda Vision with a view to travelling some distance in it but had to abort due to split fuel hose. Could anyone link me to the thread? Can't find it using the search function

UK License groups, expiry dates and points

Current drivers CPC

Digital tacho card

Current ADR classes

Experience, type of truck, overseas, big loads etc.

Log burner / multi fuel / arga type proper old cast iron, pig burners..

  the multi fuel / log burner Mrs Driveway and me have in our living room is the only heating we have, the hall and upstairs is Gas Central Heating.. I have been controlling the rusty Chinese recycled metal with Zip barbeque and fire polish, it is basically old fashioned black lead liquid cleaner / polish but it is solvent based and never dries.. this is bloody annoying when I go to clean the soot out every morning and clean the glass, I get black all over my hands and clothes ( if I'm wearing any ), and the colour is a right blighter to get off.. Is there a polish that cleans / dries so I don't look like a miner at lunch time ?

That's the stuff I always use, it's much more cost effective to buy a tin rather than a tube. You can rub it on with a cloth or thin it and apply with a brush if doing a full re-furb. Buff it off after and you won't get covered in black after that.

I would like to take a more full and wholesome part in the eBay tat thread (makes no sense I know). When I'm browsing shit on eBay how do I link pics and ads off eBay into my posts on here? If anyone does layman's terms that'd be handy as I'm not very computer literate (ie don't own one) so all this is done on a smart phone. Many thanks in advance...

Depends what you are using to browse your internets. What phone & browser?

Anyone know a good motor factor in Durham that might stock an alternator belt tensioner for my 405? The belt got a bit worse earlier while parallel parking.

Some sort of Motorola (g something)? It's an android phone so I assume I'm browsing using Google but I do have the eBay app I don't search eBay through the Google search bar. Any good?

I press on the search bar bit and mine says "copy, cut etc" so choose copy. Then press on pic and choose download.

Then paste the search bar and use advance features to attach pic.

On the android ebay app press the menu button top right and share this item:

From the pop up choose copy to clipboard:

Then in whichever box you type in to post here (I use Tapatalk) press your finger and hold, a menu will pop up with paste as an option to paste the link.

Hi. Does anyone know anything about the timing chain issue on the Volkswagen 1.4TSI engine. It seems to be relatively commonplace and a friend has now got it on his 2006 Golf GT. Does anyone know what he should do to fix it, or if it can be fixed? Would the chain wear the valves at all? Is so then I guess we can’t do as much (not without a stupid quantity of effort and money. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I find it easier* in chrome than the app.

Tap the image so it's full size on screen, then tap and hold to get this box,

post-20078-0-69501600-1546247717_thumb.png

You can download and then upload the image on autoshite or the other way is to open in new tab, tap and hold the address bar in the new tab to get this;

post-20078-0-24872200-1546247880_thumb.png

Choose copy and then paste the result into your AS reply box with the IMG tags. Like this;

[img.] https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/WaUAAOwKphcFRV1/s-l1600.jpg [/img]

(I inserted a full stop into the image tags so you can see the text) Note the "ebayimg" address and the ".jpg" at the end - that's when you know it's the image and not just the web page. If you're watching the item in eBay you may get a load of gibberish after the ".jpg" but the forum software will ignore that, or you can delete it.

Remove the full stops and the forum software will convert it to an image, like this;

s-l1600.jpg

You don't actually post the image doing it this way, you're telling the web page where an image is hosted and putting in a link which the software converts.

It's a faff and I don't usually bother way from my laptop to be honest.

Edit: this also works with gumtree but IIRC not Autotrader and not in their apps.

Here's one for you!

Was going to replace the thermostat in the Merc, but the only place I can see where a stat would be fitted is on the side of the block, with the lower rad hose going to it..

I just want to be sure before I luzz out a load of coolant and find out I have taken the wrong thing off!

Is this the stat housing?

Thanks to snipes, Dave q and busman's . Look out on the new year for loads of disjointed posts in the eBay tat thread featuring ten foot long web addresses and no pictures (you know it's going to happen) !!

I reckon if we both get on it together we can sap everyone's will to live before February..

I can't see any markings anywhere for ET etc. Nor is a brand stamped that I can find.

Not sure if you knew, but that JWL stamp is just a Japanese standards thing saying the wheels are legal for use

If you tax a car at the post Office how long before the ££'s are taken from the account?  I did this on Friday morning and it's still showing as pending on Monday evening in my account, needless to say also still showing SORN.

Yes.

Btw, I found the new circular section O-ring seal impossible to make stay in the right place and work so reused the original flat one, which did. But was in a bit of a rush, I seem to remember.

Thanks! Another thing to do then:)

A smear of Hylomar Blue often does the trick in situations like that, both aiding sealing and holding fiddly gaskets in place.

Depends on your bank. Sometimes with the 'not to name it for legal reasons but based in Halifax' tossers I'm with it can be two or three days. We're into the Xmas Bank holiday no staff can be arsed season, so could be Wednesday or Thursday before it actually gets sorted.

DVLA, based in Wales, probably get more holidays....

I tried every tube of stuff like that, including the HyloBlue. Can't remember where to and how the new seal was slipping, but it was. Not often I just give in but I was due out, the old stayed there ever after.

My main reason for watching it so carefully is that the cashiers insisted I had to fill out a V62 which i don't remember doing  before when I had the new keepers slip.

Nope didn't know that.

How does one go about timing up an injector pump on an old (pre-PD) VAG 1.9 TDI?  The pump I have bought has a mark Tippexed onto the drive sprocket, but I assume that is something which was done by a previous owner and relates to a corresponding mark on a long-dead cambelt - is there any other way of figgering it out?

There's a guide here for the ALH TDI engine, I think the steps will be similar.

Hopefully lining up the locking pin hole the timing will be right first time.
