Skipped the toll at kinnegad and went down the old road ...

Suddenly reminded of a short poem:

The town of Naas

Is a terrible place,

Kilcock was just as bad,

But of all the towns I was ever in,

Fuck me, Kinnegad....

Just saw in a Lighting facebook group im part of

that the tate modern has this art installation! (edit it looks like the name of the exhibition is "room for one colour")

image.thumb.png.cd6ffee4a3fec1306fb998d75da6f628.png

litreally just a shit load of 91W SOX-E lamps hanging on wires! id love to know the details behind it, especially as sadly most people have been brainwashed somewhat into thinking anything not LED is bad, so im surprised to see such a modern Low pressure sodium installation  (note these are not my pictures just ones I borrowed off the facebook page!)

must be an Awesome sight to behold in person, especially when they all started up red and slowly warmed up :)

This will probably only be relevant to the Scotlanders on here but I found a compilation of old TV ads on YouTube and I have cut it up and uploaded my favourites to my own channel. Sheer awesomeness...

In our local Tesco there's a little table full of books with an honesty pot, set out by a local charity.  I recently snagged myself a copy of Blott on the Landscape there.  Today, I had to do a double-take when I saw an early eighties tabletop roleplay rulebook sat amongst the Danielle Steele and self-help books.  Put a smart donation in the pot for this one, probably the best thing I've ever found in Tesco.

The artwork in it is great and while I'm unlikely to ever find a group to play this with and it's only the book, it's still a very nice thing to have.

That's a nice find. I used to have the 3rd edition Runequest version of the game that GW published in the UK. Never did much with it though.

Just got a 600 euro (538 quid) compensation payment for a delayed flight.  Looked on moneysavingexpert and used the recommended Resolver website to claim.  Five minutes to fill the form in once I found the flight details and a week later they replied asking for my bank details to make the payment.

Highly recommended.

True story from today- A few colleagues at work were talking about X factor and asked if I could sing as they know I am in a band, I said I couldn’t but could do an Elvis impression. One said go on then, so I got a bit of soil from a plant pot and sprinkled it in my hand, two of them saw the funny side, one is obviously a fan of Elvis judging by the look of horror and disgust I got.

I have been out and about doing a bit of tool calibration today and came across this gem at a certain fast fit depot in Hampshire.

This is what happens when you leave your torque wrench on a wheel fixing and then try to reverse out of the workshop.

Freelander's  been stinking of petrol when filled up so had to have a look. No leaks from below, so tipped the back seats up, removed the access panel under the carpet to find the area around the in-tank pump smeared in petrol - nice. Cleaned the grubbiness off, tapped the retaining ring free, disconnected the fuel line and wiring plug, slowly and carefully* removed the pump/sender and didn't* spill any petrol.

The grin - the seal wasn't seated properly. Much swearing under head-torch and fiddling to get the seal sitting nicely - free repair ?.

Not 100% sure that it's a permanent fix as there are definite creases in the seal where  bits of the top flange have been folded under itself in places, but hopeful.

Ah buggery.  The joys of private schools. Ask John Peel RIP about his experiences at Shrewsbury School. Documented in his post-humous autobiography.

Just a note on John Peels autobiography. I wouldn't bother, I bought it years ago.

He died before he got by about chapter 3 and the rest of it is written by his missus.

Well written but not what I wanted from an autobiography.

Not even semi-autobiographical, then.

He mentioned his time at private school on Grumpy Old Men too I think, or something like it.

I thought the last couple of chapters was written by her.

And the sort of autobiography I like to send to my parents for Christmas.  Since the 60s appear to have passed them by.

Well that was fun. 3 bags seen, we saved the Scottish from the Hootsman, then a trip to Big John's for dinner.

Now back to Coventry to rescue my car before @dean36014 has it for spares

Sitting in the back of my mate's 1 Series yesterday when he exclaims "Fucking hell he's going for it!". Turn around in my seat and see a Royal Mail DAF Artic absolutely caning it along behind us, taking roundabouts at car speed and hooning about at 56mph like his last name was McRae! Epic fun!
