This is mrs fps thoughts on old fords

"ford thought ahead of their time it's not rust its so the owners can learn all about their cars inside out while they rebuild them giving them a better knowledge of mechanics, Its the Ford school of motoring and mechanics, You get enrolled automatically when you buy one and those that scrap or sell their rusty old car are drop outs."

I laughed my head off at her

Seeing as I was in the humour for washing cars(Not something that occurs too often)

I decided to give the 205 a quick scrub up too!

Late breakfast. Had a lie-in today. Very much welcomed.

Grew the tomato and parsley myself!

You bastard

This morning I was really jonesing for a full english.

I spent 20 minutes cleaning all the pots and sorting out the mess that my mrs had left the kitchen in before I could even start.

Only to find:

Bacon was 2 weeks out of date and had been opened and not sealed up so it'd gone grey. Not risking that

Bread was mouldy

Sausages had completely DISAPPEARED. I was 100% sure there were some tomato sausages I bought last week.

The only beans left were sugar free.

Eggs? None. Just an empty carton.

I put this Montego Diesel in the spotted thread back in 2014 but not seen it for a couple of years so it was good to follow it for a few miles yesterday. Mot until April.

Still looks like this, but no frost yesterday.

This is why God invented the greasy spoon cafe

Mrs D wanted to go to Bunnings today for some general DIY stuff.

Mrs D let me spend ages drooling over tools I can't afford.

Mrs D has bought me many plants and a selection of garden tools.

Mrs D has made curry for dinner.

Mrs D has given me wine.

Mrs D has told me there is cheese, crackers and port for supper.

So far this afternoon and evening has been full of win.

Mrs D is putting you to work in the garden tomorrow :)

Shopping in Aldi a couple of days ago, a woman with a little girl, around 18 months~two years old sat in her trolley.

The little girl chattered away all the time and was clearly a very happy child and not at all inconvenienced at being dragged around the shop, as most kids seem to be.

Never asked for anything for herself.

A truly charming kid, I came out of there feeling very pleased to have seen and heard that.  Her mother said she loves shopping.

I'm a keen gardener so potter around most afternoons and evenings after work as I'm ignoring the pedal sensor fault on the Saab. Last place was a flat with communal gardens so couldn't get to work in it. When we moved in 5 weeks ago the back yard was a complete jungle. I was expecting Frankie Howerd to jump out and give me a lecture on the Oozalem bird. It's slowly becoming a nice place to sit out with a nice long drink in the evening sun. There is even a built in BBQ which has suffered much abuse over the past few weeks. I'm on the allotment waiting list hence the new tools. Apparently I'm 7th in the queue and people are rejecting the few available plots.

I've really missed having a garden and a veg patch. Make the most of it while the weather's good!

Collected a freecycle kayak this evening, its about 14' long and a bit scuffed but appears watertight. Its a Perception Mirage Slalom Kayak apparenlty and looks like this

phoenix-seewun-slalom-kayak-americanlist

lashed it to the roof of the Saab with a ratchet strap and cushioned the roof with some old carboard and a manky curtain I use as a dust sheet. Bum-clenchy drive home but it didn't fall off and spear a pedestrian or anything!

I'm really pleased with it, the couple I got it from got it from freecycle themselves yonks ago and said to do the same with it when I'm done too. Really nice of them.

Now I just need a paddle and I can take it down to the sea when the mood takes me. its only a 5 minute drive from here so I should make the more of it than I do really. Might take it to the Hamble river first to get used to it on calmer water!

I’ve just found series 1 minder on itv3hub. The cars are brilliant! We just had Derek Jacobi as a shady time share salesmen in a silver shadow.

I downloaded that top gear torrent a while ago and finally got round to watching all the old ones! Bloody odd watching them talk about the new unleaded petrol, and utterly fantastic watching them all tool around in brand new e/f/G plate chod!

Watching the road test of the facelifted uno at the moment!

Old top gear was much better. Used to like hearing was similes Quentin had thought up that week.

Mrs D made me get up at half 7 and drive to Sutton Scotney to collect a Sofabed she won on Fleabay.

I knew she was up to something.

I've mentioned in Shite in Miniature and in Datsuncog's for sale thread that I want to build a collection of models of all the cars I've owned.

I finally mentioned this idea to Mrs H last night.  Her reaction: "That would look really cool!"

She is a keeper.

Went on my work's do last night and got absolutely wankered to the point where someone addressed me by my name and I didn't know who he was talking to.

I reckon your 'works does' are just you out on the lash on a weekly basis. I am therefore 'outing' you as a raging pisshead who deserves a hangover like what I've got! :)

Good lad, keep it up :)

Further reward for something I've done over the last week.

Mrs D has bought me us a superking sized bed, and we get rid of the standard double we've had for the last 5 years in the next couple weeks. The 45 minute drive to collect the sofa bed was worth it!

I would put the old bed on the shitecycle thread, but it's totally fucked. Unless there is a sister forum called Bedshite?

The dustman household seems to be full of win at the moment.

I love finding little gems of TV programmes that I never knew ever existed. Today after washing the BMW and Micra I bounced on down to the local Charity Shoppe and found a late 80s series on DVD called "Nice Work" with Warren Clarke and Haydn Gwynne. Even better, it was bloody filmed in non-other than Birmingham. Though it reminded me of the early episodes of Boon, loads of very bad attempts at the Brummie accent. Makes me laugh though! Loads of shite to spot aswell, Haydn's character drives an early 80s Renault 5.

Micra may well be on the way to repairs. So far, more inspection of the damage has seen that the boot floor is actually intact, the panel behind the bumper that seperates the bumper and boot floor is the one that is damaged. I managed to release the spare tyre. A mate of mine who owns a crash repair garage (around the corner from Sims) has inspected it and deemed it is repairable. I have also negotiated some correct-coloured parts, both front and rear bumpers, bonnet, brand new expansion tank and side mirrors for £100. I only need to pick them up from Brierley Hill. Ma is getting the 52-reg roffle Micra as a permanent replacement, the Blue Micra will be deposited for repairs next weekend.

Just popped to the shop and there's a guy, at quarter past 7 on a Sunday evening, on a main road, with the front end of his Mk4 Golf in bits and an engine crane out in the road.

Wonder if he needs it for work tomorrow morning? :D
