What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Work social last night, was alright, basically the same as when there's no work going except in an office with pizza. That's not the grin though, I offered a guy I'm pretty friendly with a lift back (my own age and a music student), he gets to my car and is genuinely impressed with it!

I get a load of 'my grandad had one of those' comments, but all my mates seem to really like the R8. I'm sort of baffled!

This happened today, 400K and still going.

Even more amazing is that I've done 300K of that and not died of boredom driving this DW8 "powered" van.

Not for long - they've gone the opposite way with the Sandero to the Duster and made body coloured bumpers standard now!

They're ace - wish I had a need for a Sandero as well as a Duster!

That could be a bit of a laugh in a Zephyr Mk4 or a Rover p6 2000. Or a Marina 1800TC. Or a 2CV. Or a driffftin modified rwd ricer / Vovlo.

Take a parachute though, just to be safe. Don't clunk click.

Look at all the wrecked cars scattered all along the bottom of the hillside. Ideal business opportunity for a local combined undertaker / breaker's-yard type enterprise.

I'd rather do it in my X1/9 than the 2cv. Although the 2cv would be a blast downhill.

I did the gorge de l'ardeche in a convoy of 2cvs many years ago- Hilarious really, we were overtaking rather a lot of modern cars downhill as the brakes had got very hot and I was up to 60in third with no chance of changing down to 2nd.

At the bottom, before a stone bridge and corner was a cafe, and we had a standing ovation from the clientele as they could see us coming for about a mile. Of course they could have been standing to make sure that they could get out of the way!

Trainspotting 2 last night, bloody loved it.

Hell yes.

Really good film IMHO. Good links to the first one and very, very watchable. Bloody funny in places.

One for the DVD when it comes out.

I reached the £500 fundraising target I set myself for the London Marathon, and a big chunk of that was down to the generosity of a number of shiters, thanks again to them all.

To add to that grin: I thought I would update the page to include details of what the charity could do with £500.

Apparently even though Virgin money giving put a little disclaimer that they aren't responsible for the content of the page, they starred out the word bitch. Bit awkward when your charity involves dogs!

Are people really that sensitive?!

Having given up on this bloody tooth and requested a new one to be made using a new impression (aready done) I did what any shiter worth the name would have done and attacked this sod with the electric drill!

Fits much better now, wearable and I can speak (mixed blessing for those forced to listen granted) so well pleased :) Should have been a dentist...

Begby still a nutter?

I already had the impression from the Dollop that you were a bit crazy.  Attacking your own teeth with a drill confirms.  :D

Liverpool's mayor (Joe Anderson) has said he'll offer free or reduced council tax if you report someone for not clearing up their dog's mess or fly tipping. Whatever fine they get will come off the council tax of who reported them. One of the best ideas I've heard of, especially ref. the fly tipping. I hope other councils follow suit.

Walking new to me roads to get grandaughter to sleep this afternoon and found all sorts of weird and rusty. There is so much old chod lying around! No photos because of pram but highlights included a boat on someones roof, a kit car Lotus 7 style with a tree growing through the floor, 3 rotten P38s on one small lawn and a 2 door, red Mk1 Cavalier with hubcaps!

I understand the sentiment as it's a total mess round here with both problems but I hate this informing* type thing. "if I can't do it you're not doing"....

Self-dentistry rocks!

I've attacked a broken rear molar in my lower jaw that was cutting my tongue with a rotary engraving tool in the past...it was a good 12 or so years before a dentist saw it.

Why was it broken? There was an impacted wisdom tooth breaking it up!

Completely disagree, there's some lovely local roads/areas round here ruined by lazy selfish bastards fly tipping all manner of shit.

Just switched telly on and found one of those foreign detective series things on More 4..'The Team' or summat.

First scene features a Pug 604. Didn't expect that.

I understand having a car you're proud of, even joining one-marque forums and stuff like that. But seriously....

That's a dented, diesel Astra estate on rusty steels. "Because Astra" is only really an answer to the question "Mate, why are you always so grumpy when you get to work?"

I do know what you mean as the old pit behind us was always being fly tipped on and now there's a new road into part of it its even worse but curtain twitches or "that guys got lots of Fiat's on his drive, I bet he's a car dealer" type stuff always spoil the good intentions.

Mrs Imp: 'You've left Imp Jrs buggy in the back of the car and I need it, is the car open, I'll go and get it from the train station.'

Me: 'Soz, I locked it but there is a spare key in the drawer downstairs'

*rummaging*

Mrs Imp: 'Theres loads of keys, which one is it?"

Me:'Its the one with a picture of a Jaguar on it'

Mrs Imp 'I can't find it, there are some on a blue keyring, one with sellotape on and one with a picture of a lion on it.... '
