What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Oh. Am I the only person who thinks the MG3 really is quite pretty then?

I wouldn't say pretty but it's no uglier than most new cars. I wouldn't turn one down if it was free.

I picked up a nice plain un-trendy cable-knit jumper from the charity shop yesterday for a fiver - 100% new wool... but the closest thing I could find to it is slightly north of £250. That's a result then.

You can't do cable knitting on a machine so it has to be done by hand, hence the price tag. The person that made it likely didn't make much from doing so either. My late gran used to make cableknit stuff in the 90s for "pin money" and it really was, she stopped when she realised the £20 per garment she was getting was on items that were selling north of £250. May be different on the profits to makers now of course.

I went to Harry Bucklands near Gloucester today, as someone I know tipped me off about a mint TXD BX in there. Managed to secure a pristine drivers seat and two undamaged smoked BX rear lights for £35. Also, the yard was full of tat. There was even a MK2 Fiesta still displaying its tax disc from 1995 at the front...... I strongly recommend anyone in the area go to that place at least once.

How come you can't cable knit on a machine?

We can land a SpaceProbe on a tiny rock, we can remotely control a tiny little robotic arm inside someone's spleen. But we can't make a flipping jumper without a sweatshop?

So one of out trident's went off course - maybe the technician responsible fitted the water pump to ghosty's rover?

I think trident is an utter fucking waste of money - billions spent protecting poundland, greggs and b&m.

And we can't use it unless the yanks approve anyway, which begs the question what's the point?

Have they still got my Audi 80, Mum's Talbot Sunbeam and my wife's Toledo that I took there in 1988?

You know that thing where people photoshop someone's face so it's tiny in the middle of their normal sized head? That's what the current MG range looks like to me.

That's known as Gnops -a Spong in reverse (to spong is to enlarge facial features, esp eyes)

@Pillock: it's to do with the way you have to move and hold stitches, I'm told a machine cannot reliably do this and having done cable knitting myself I'm inclined to believe it.

This Sunday is the Rover 200 and 400 Club's North East meet which I'll be toddling along to all being well.  I am amused that the venue is called The Angel.

Think hove had a bad day at work?

Brother just sent me these pictures, his guvnor's Mulsanne ( modern shite ) had to go in for some warranty work so they lent him a brand new W12 Spur.

On arriving at the house, my brother says to the delivery guy" Just leave it the yard, it's tricky getting it into the coachouse"

Delivery guy replies " I've been driving these for years son, I think I can manage".........post-17414-0-73597900-1485203311_thumb.jpeg

Brother has driven it from Oxford to London and to Milton Keynes since, so had only done about 200 odd miles when damaged. Wonder if the lucky* new owner will ever be told, when he pays the price of a small house for his ex-demo?

They're saying it was a malfunction. But apparently it was off the US coast, heading inland. TRUMPWARDS.

Fault or test? You decide. Not fools, these Royal Navy types.

I could build a machine that cuts cauliflower.

It will look distinctly like a load of knives gaffer-taped to a desk fan.

Apparently what you meant was "machines can't cut cauliflower well"

In fairness, the people responsible for my jumper also sell plenty of other clothes which are machine-woven, for eye-watering amounts. £110 for a plain cotton long-sleeved top, anyone?

Well, please allow me to introduce you to Simone Giertz from Sweden:

Enjoy.  She's a bit of an acquired taste, but she's hilarious and charming.

I needed a new drivers wiper blade for the xtrail. Halfords with my trade card was £19,e bay around £11. I put a search into Google for a 26 inch blade. Low and behold a Land Rover dealer, pops up. So I have a look at the site and just over £6.00 delivered

Ordered Saturday teatime,delivered lunchtime today.

I'm just about to bin the packaging when I felt something hard (oh mrs).wrapped in the bill is a Land Rover air fresheners.

OLLI.

+1, I'm not normally a fan of cartoon books, but this one is absolutely brilliant :

For a birthday treat today I got a 4x4 driving experience thing. I was a little disappointed when I got there to see a row of newish Landcruisers and a Shogun, so I asked if they had anything older.

The grin is finding this tucked away out of sight, unwanted and unloved - and unsurprisingly for a LR product, full of condensation.

No longer officially part of the fleet, but they said if it would start OK I could take it out. Happily it did, so I was powered around the course by VM's finest!

There are load of Logans getting used as cabs round here now.  I jumped in one last year and it was absolutely dismal, but it was that or keep walking another 3 miles.
