What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Hahahaha I clocked the same half second of Sierra action.

Plus if I was trying to come up with the stupidest, most Alan Partidge idea for a TV show, I'd still struggle to think up Penguin A&E with Lorraine Kelly.

Anyway, my grin for the day is I got to drive a golden, floaty slug.

And I got a free laptop! Fair exchange. Ubuntu loaded, RAM upgraded and all is now alright in my world. (Hunting for my next tech fix....)

A continental HGV destroyed this for me in 2008 on the M25 when it was a whisker past its first MOT.

@richardthestag:  That looks like it might be one of those wheelchair-on-the-roof automated box things which could go some way toward explaining the rest.

Never forget that the shell was nailed together at Cowley...  ;)

Yea Gods! Thanks mate, you have ruined the car for me forever! No wonder I am fighting rust in the rear wheel arch (now despatched via angle grinder/welder).... I knew it was made by pressed steel but didn't realise that was at Cowley. I've got to take the door apart soon, I'll probably find a copy of the Red Star, a few half smoked Woodbines a dessicated mouse and a load of scrawled words that roughly translate as 'Capitalist bastard!' and a picture of some blokes cock....

Did you ever get any money out of the bollocks?

Wasn't there a transit going around with F1 running gear ? Painted in Royal Mail livery iirc

I think the first Supervan had a lot of GT40 in it but from memory had a tuned 302 or something not a DFV, although the wheels look like they're off an F1 car.

Lord Sterling is visiting later today to drop off some Rover goodies as part of a long-distance delivery mission to the Even Further North.  The sun is shining.  I've washed the Rover.  Feeling pretty chipper about today, it's not at all like a Bank Holiday normally is.

I typed 'awful Citroen' in to Google images (don't ask) and lo and behold, near the top of the page was this Wales based beard carrier.

What a thoroughly pleasant chap Lord Sterling is, and I'm not just saying that because he said nice things about the Rover.

Not sure if this should be in the grumpy thread or this one. On Thursday the XM wouldn't start just went click so I thought battery flat again. Put it on charge and took MRS Concern's Clio. This morning I put the battery back on and still just a click. Thinking something else was broken when I noticed I'd left it in "D".

I is a idiot!

Went on my first Critical Mass bike ride in Manchester yesterday - admittedly I went on a skateboard with my longboarder mate, I thought it was going to rain so I didn't take my bike into town - I expected to just be hiding out in a pub.

Was a great experience!

It's the bank holiday weekend. I've suggested to Kinky Girl that she may enjoy* a visit to the Anson engine museum. She actually wants to go. Win!

Whilst rooting in the cupboard looking for a Triumph window winder I came across the very ancient calligraphy set I bought on eBay about a million years ago. I have just bought a bottle of ink........

But then, when I was a kid I genuinely thought the Lunar Rover was made by BL.

When the Chinese moon rover came up a while ago, the first thing I thought of was an MG6 in space.

I had a good experience with Gumtree today.  I know, I couldn't believe it either.  After getting fed up with the fuckwits that seemed to be drawn to the Scudo advert like moths to a flame, I took the advice of the more experienced car salesmen on here, deleted the ad, then put up a new one with better photos, less detail on the faults and a higher asking price.  Had an email last night from a chap wanting to come and view it; we agreed on 9am this morning.  He turned up at 8.59, had a quick look round the van and a brief test drive. I pointed out the faults, none of which seemed to bother him much (not that they should have as they were all par for the course on a 16yo van, but we all know what some people are like), he handed over the full asking price in cash, jumped in and buggered off.

I'm now waiting for something to go disastrously wrong, as such a smooth Gumtree sale must inevitably have caused an imbalance in the cosmos somewhere.

Thanks, I'm now dying from some incurable disease thanks to your hassle free gumtree sale.

See you in the afterlife.

Anticipating a bit of "pump action".

Wuvvum did you check the notes were real?? Only kidding when selling a focus on there I didn't get one "swop 4 ifone m8" message which really shocked me as I'd heard all the experiences of folks and it was the first thing I'd sold

yesterday afternoon, I drive past a couple of lads who were tinkering under the bonnet of a mk5 escort, I drove past again around 9:30pm, one of the lads had gone home but the lone engineer was still spannering away. with a bottle of Buckfast by his toolbox - obviously things were going well*
