At first I thought he was an old Adolf who had accidentally joined the motorway, then it scarpered off up the road, when I caught it up and overtook it was some bloke grinning like a maniac. 🇩🇪😂

Kangoo. And I remember a few years ago, there were a frightening number of these that caught fire here, so I don't know if it's something they do or if it's a coincidence.

But good he got the guy out.

Not my picture but - first Cuckoo of the year this morning - Spring is sprung :-)

Guess that's why it's 6 degree outside right now and zero expected overnight?

Cuckoo. Alan McFadyen

He's back - 6am this morning shouting his head off.  Thought I saw one during the week getting mobbed by a thrush but audible confirmation this morning, Spring is officially Sprung. :-)

Catching up on the day’s sport on YouTube.

First Chinese GP qualifying , Charles Leclerc prominent.

Next thing I watch is Leicester v Northampton rugby. One of the first players mentioned was Charlie Clare.

Well made me grin anyway.

One of my schoolmates was employed at Fylingdales BMEWS.  There were the most up to date computers installed, that six seconds after launch could identify a soviet missile, where it was launched and it's target.

One night he was there alone and set the computer to work out Pi to as far as it could go.

Several hours later it had chugged out the result onto fanfold paper using the dot matrix printer.

I forget how many places but it was a hell of a lot of paper.

Good job the Russians didn't launch any nukes while it was busy.

Your story on pi is epic! These radar sites were huge investments...with one in the UK, one in Alaska, and one in sunny* Thule[that part of Eric the Red's Paradise too cold for the Norse]. My Dad worked with computers and the BMEWS  projects for RCA sixty years ago. He flew over to Fylingdales Moor, he called it, and considered moving our family of 6 there from Kansas. He was going to enroll us all in the schools, buy a new Spitfire to putt around in, and live the Hi Life in England. Instead, he chose the BMEWS site in Clear,  Alaska and we wound up driving the 3,700 miles in winter for the move.

Yonks ago, visiting friends' smollholding on an Alp, clearing  attic as roof need holes fixed, found a load of paintings from when he was a youth and thought he was "undiscovered major artist", we then burnt the stuff on garden fire - except Brit Git took a few out of frames and exported them TO an campus (where I was working) which had art collection n smoll gallery. Art curator had not finished cataloguing collection (yes serious monies art not on any list).  Soooooooooo working late an Technician  fitted an oil on canvas (horizontal and vertical stripy thing 1m by 1m)  to wonky frame of old fencing wood and installed in Departmental reception on an nicely lit wall.  Card on back  says  "donated" by artist (well artist's cat) as the only remaining work after disastrous  fire burnt all others at  Studio on an Alp.    Last weekend, 6 years later, it's still there.
