What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Years ago I worked with a guy who was a drinker, got banned, a year or so later got banned again but he was bricking it when he went to court , the alcohol reading was high so he was advised the court could fine him up to 10k and or 2 years in prison

Came out bouncing, £500 fine which wasn't even a weeks wages and a mandatory 3 year ban, he didn't even serve all of that because they let him give them some money for an awareness course, might've been 2½ years in.

You clearly didn't know my old mate Mad Dog, who would wake up and swig vodka despite being (at the time) unemployed.  Glad to say that he kicked it and the last time I saw him he was doing much better.

I wasn't saying alcoholism is a good thing, just that some people can get to the point where it takes a good amount to start slurring thier words. To be fair, if she was weaving all over the road, then she probably isn't one of them.

Just saw this in a carpark. Fair made my day really. After all, you can never be too careful 😄

They could actually be trims, some newer stuff has very rudimentary alloy wheels with plastic trims like this on them. When it's a "wasteful" style they can save the money on excess alloy and the wheel ends up lighter and cheaper to make.

I thought that so I had to have a check. Defo alloys. Poor old bugger, wasting his pension on cable ties.

Ah, I'd like to see the clever sod's smug face change when informed it won't be loaded and it needs to all be taken off 😅

That should feature in the McDonalds “ like to get your money’s worth” ads.

Was given a box of techy crap to wipe/dispose of by a friend of mine's mum. Chucked her some cash thinking I'd flog a couple of the older tablets and cover my costs.

Delphi clone and an already set up laptop, thanks very much for that one - saves me buying one!

I'm amazed what people post on tiktok

This guy got pulled in by dvsa on what I assume the M5, Exeter to Bristol

Smoking like a good un, flat tyre, no mot and 1000kg overloaded

So he posts the paperwork with all his details on it as they're walking to the train

Been looking on ebay for an old whistling camping kettle, I've got fond memories of our old kettle from camping holidays as a child. Modern whistling camping kettles tend to shriek rather than whistle (mine definitely does), and I fancied revisiting my childhood a bit.

It seems I'm not the only one who remembers the older ones fondly though - every one I've seen so far has attracted lots of bids, and ended up going for £8-£10. I was watching one out of curiousity, it had already gone beyond what I was willing to bid so I didn't bother, was just curious to see what it went for. Suddenly one of the bidders had the idea of making a ludicrously high maximum bid at the last second. The idea, I assume, was to ensure nobody would outbid them and didn't actually expect to pay anywhere near their maximum bid... except another bidder had the same idea.

Long story short, one of them is now going to be paying £50 for a manky old tin kettle. :D
