I know it's a bit vain to quote yourself but this is the Uptons breakfast as sampled this morning.

It doesn't look too much in the photo but the plate is bigger than it looks. It's more than enough to keep me going til lunch anyway. With most black pudding I'll cut it with beans or hash browns or something. This black pudding I'm more than happy to eat on its own. The sausages are only chipolatas because they cook everything on a hot plate behind the counter so chipolatas cook through quicker. But they are award winning chipolatas.

We arrived at 07.30 in pouring rain thinking it would be quiet. There were only two tables left, and a big queue in the shop side too.

There is a lot about shops and stuff closing from lack of business in the recession - but the good ones like Uptons will keep going 'cus they are good. My local coffee shop is always packed out.

Merry Christmas everybody...

Got a Christmas card in the post from a slightly eccentric friend of mine.  He had put a wax seal on the envelope.

As usual we went to the BP station for coffee yesterday. The nice older bloke was serving, so we grabbed a box of chocs and gave them to him for crimbo. For reasons unknown the BP app decided to give us £6 of bonus points, so a cheap do.

Beer.

Purchased earlier this year, from Lidl, with these days in mind.

Last night drunk two. With what I think is the best of Spanish larger beers. Horribly small bottles.

All of the British breweries are owned by Carlsberg. My have things have changed since I left the UK.

It's really far from the most offensive christmas song, too.

People like George Ezra are allowed to just keep releasing music with no real kickback and these pair have their knickers in a twist over a song that came out a few years before she was even was born?

There are so many bloody fantastic beers in the UK at the moment but since all the big breweries got bought up, none of them are sold in a supermarket and especially not in a selection box.

These do not come up so often and when they do the price is not great. Still it is the birthday of thingy.

There are some good (mostly lager) beers for the Philips draft master, the problem is £35 a keg and if you buy one you don't like you've got 30 days to get through 6 litres of it.

No taste whatsoever

The sooner songs about sausage rolls or cost of living and whatever else next are banished from reaching number 1 and rammed down everyone's throats with lashings of autotune, the better

I'm just disappointed this didn't make Christmas number one instead.

Someone on Reddit pointed out the slightly dubious age difference between the 2 considering the age of their oldest kid.

Screenshot_20221227_112919_Brave.thumb.jpg.45537a2afc6ce8623a4f4982ee6fa745.jpg

Based upon that he'd probably have been 38 or 39, knocking up a 16 or 17yr old.

Bit creepy.

It could be his kid from another marriage though of course but it doesn't mention that and does make him look like a bit of a perv.

https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1974-triumph-toledo-v8-gLQLDn looks like £5K would maybe clinch it 'reserve was almost met' at £4.5K?

I'm wondering what the motivation was to plonk in the Triumph V8? I'd have thought something more modern would have been better/smaller.
