Aye, the big Merc loves* steep uphills.

Slovenia is something else

Superb.  Looks like a great road trip bar the belt issue.

I've had a fleet clear out recently.  Just the Metro left and this as the daily.

Low miles, long term giffer owner and cheap on pez.  I couldn't find a reasonably priced auto to replace the Forester and am glad of that tbh, as this is doing 39mpg even with loads of urban driving versus the low 20s I was getting before.  Plus the tax is cheaper.

I've been meaning to try a Mégane I for ages.  Hopefully it'll last a while if I keep on top of things.  Can't be arsed with cars at the moment.  Just want something to work.

Mine was ace and exceeded my expectations. I questioned why someone would buy a Focus or Astra in the early 2000s when you could get this. They didn't even rust much. Id have another 100%.

You're braver than me, I would never dare drive in there.

Bravery or stupidity. There was a well worn track into it but where the bombs had been set to break through the concrete shields was a bit perilous.

(Sorry if this is the wrong section for this).

Can anyone identify what these seats were originally from?

They are being removed from a Series Land Rover which was abandoned in 2001, so they are older that then.

They are scrap, just wondering what they were from.

Looks late 70s/early 80s. The runners/seat bracketry is throwing me a curveball.  Backrest handle/wheel looks Ford, but the rest more BL like?

The bolts on the opposite side from the rake wheel are Torx.

I don't remember them being in common usage in cars till the 90s.

Not with the backrest adjusting twirly wheel. Triumphs had a pull up handle. Unless it was an Acclaim which I'm not familiar with but certainly nothing earlier.

Edit: my post was rendered meaningless even as I was typing it by the answer above.

Unfortunately, there is no garage/underground/private parking.

It does though, have wood panelling:

The SLK320 has (finally) left the car park.
This car came with a clean* MOT and it's only taken 10 weeks to work out all the niggles on the front end ending up with a pair of new discs today. Looks like the crippled caliper nuked the RH disc at some point. Just under £500 in bits/balancing/tracking but it now steers where you ask it to without vibrating your fillings out to boot.
Once the new pads/discs get loved up together then we'll see if we can have a spot of fun.

Gave the wee roffle win Hilux its inaugural outing. The gravel was too soft for it however my pals much more expensive crawler also got stuck so it wasnt so bad.

In this picture it wasnt actually stuck though, I think it will go well on the right terrain.

The front propshaft fell off (for economy*) after this picture was taken as even with some Loctite, the grub screw holding it on wouldn't stay tight. I found the part OK and will probably just Loctite it to the motor shaft, fuck it.

Can't wait for the softer springs to arrive and then find some proper dirt!

Going to view this on Sunday. Three miles away!

I hope it's as good as it looks. I've been shiteless since I sold my A4 cab to @Split_Pin almost two years ago.

Edit: A208 XOF seems to have survived well into the 21st century? Untaxed since 2021, last V5C issued in 2012...

I'd think ( hope??) being a ford, it'd be still about, maybe just stored and 'waiting restoration'? 🙏

The Toyota passed its MOT this morning, so at least it remains road legal even if it isn't fully usable at the moment.

I drove down to Shotley after work for the East Coast Retros meet, which mostly stayed dry.  I took the Rover in the end as I didn't fancy 150 miles in a misfiring Toyota and the Innocenti isn't MOT'd yet.  Caught up with trigger, Spottedlaurel and Brodders and had a drive in the forum slag XK8 convertible, which is rather an impressive bit of kit despite its miles.  Was also nice to see SL's eponymous Laurel out and about again - it'd been a few years.

Heading to the ACA classic auction in King's Lynn tomorrow morning - I haven't decided what to take yet, it will depend on the weather and how much sleep I get tonight I think.  The Renault 6 could do with a run but that's a pain in the arse if it's raining as the wipers are such a faff.  Might just default to the Rover again as it's so easy!

Good to catch up with everyone last night. Maybe not so many cars there, but the unsettled weather during the day probably put some people off. Still some really nice stuff....

A good turnout of estates. I particularly liked the Triumph and the super-rare Consul had only been purchased the day before by a chap who I needed to speak to about another estate (the rather long-winded Aerodeck purchase, still not a 100% certainty for various reasons).

Saw this Allegro on a trailer almost exactly a year ago, great to see it in use again.

HC was really nice, one of my cars of the night.

Had the pleasure of following the Corsair some of the way down, had a 3-litre swap and sat on the classic Appliance/Cragar type steel spoke wheels that suit '60s Fords so well.

AC 2-litre added to the variety.
