I've been watching the professionals whilst eating my  dinner. I started looking at all the manky cars in the background, but then I realised there's not a single attractive woman in it that wears a bra. Highlight this week was a girl in a white t shirt murdered in the shower. It's brilliant.

How can anyone sell it, every single car must be well documented.

Coming home from work today (dual carriageway crawling towards a roundabout), there was a Tesla Y minicab in front of me. It did a little swerve towards the central reservation, which I thought was a bit odd, then a few seconds later it accelerated and did a massive swerve to the left, swiping a car in the left-hand lane, then slamming into a lamppost 😲. I'm guessing the driver must have dropped his vape or something...

I have put the SD1 back together and I will attempt to get it started tomorrow.

Getting it going after pulling the dizzy is a PITA. Lots of cranking wet plugs and popping sounds.

There were some not wearing bras? What's the problem? 😄

One of my customers (totally legitimately) sold a pre WW1 tourer out to Dubai, where it was going to be walled up inside a rich man's house. So they are wanted by people who are totally outside the mainstream of the car world and can just disappear from the outside world. It's probably worth a ton as parts as well. Lots of people in the vintage world aren't very scrupulous. The Bugatti world is full of individuals who build several complete cars, each with a few genuine parts taken from a derelict car with the rest new. Then they concoct a provenance for them. I don't know if a Ghost is worth the money to make that worthwhile.

The self drive misfunctioned.

We're doing Glastonbury at home.

Although I've put the cat litter box outside every day this week and only brought it in overnight, I haven't emptied or changed it. Now I've brought it back inside the house and put in a sunny corner of the drawing room. By the time we bob in tonight to watch a load of shit on the telly, it should be quite realistic.

Oh, and I saw a Bolero March when I was in Aldi this morning. A first for me.

There was a post last week or the week before in one of the appropriate FB groups about these cars getting collected. Definitely a Whitley Bay landmark less now.

Car insurance sorted for the next year.  I now have two policies, an expensive one for the Leaf (I didn't go with the cheapest option for once, I wanted windscreen cover and cover to drive other vehicles - plus the very cheapest policy wanted me to install a black box in the car like a bloody 17-year-old, stuff that for a lark) and another one covering the five "oldies" (Rover, Toyota, Innocenti, R6, Volvo), also fully comp and agreed value but 2/3 the price of the policy for the Leaf alone, although it doesn't cover commuting.

When the Merc turns 20 in the autumn, and if I still have it (which I may well do as I've had bugger all interest in it), I can add it on to the classic policy for what will presumably be a relatively small additional premium.

I'm paying about the same in total as I did last year, although I paid for the classic policy in full up front so my monthly outgoings will be lower - I have less flexibility but a better level of cover so swings and roundabouts really.

Many thanks to @NorthernMonkey for looking after it 'for a few months' three and a half years ago and for bringing it back.

Doesn't look too bad. The rusty bits haven't got any better but they're not terrible.

It looks fucking smart doesn't it. These really are looking better with age IMO.

ImpJr well chuffed to see it again and that he still fits in the back.

As I was taking a photo of this in Morrisons car park...

IMG_20250628_135750060.jpg.3601502993865c9f05245d29f195e7da.jpg

...the owner appeared. I asked where it was registered and as soon he started speaking he didn't really need to confirm "France".

Monsieur Mercedes-Benz said he was in the process of registering it here but it had failed it's MoT - due to the headlight beam pointing to the continental side of the road. For ease, and to complete UK registration, he's getting those little headlight stickers.

Mr M-B said he likes it as it's all mechanical. It's 1986 and he's owned it 26 years. It's his year round daily driver. I delicately pointed out we use a lot of salt over here in winter so maybe something to consider.

He's fully aware it will be tax and MoT exempt shortly but for his own re-assurance he will continue to have it tested.

I was conscious he was with a young person (dtr?) and I'd taken up enough of his time so let him carry on loading his shopping and said goodbye.

An absolutely gorgeous, immaculate car.

The dark silver with a hint of purple suits the Xedos 6 so well. It reminds me of Aspen Silver on my E39 which I think is the best color for that as well!

Serviced the couriering Caddy this evening, 27th service in my hands, it's the most I've ever serviced a vehicle, which is not surprising as it's the highest mileage vehicle I've owned.

I need to make a call on it really, a lot of my deliveries are 3 metre lights and trunking, it fits with half the bulkhead removed and the passenger seat folded forward, but it's not ideal. The rattling from the trunking is pretty annoying very quickly.

I hate changing vans, everything's so bloody expensive these days, but I could do with more space. Trafics and older shape Vivaros (new ones aren't long enough) are looking the most likely, Transporters are crazy money and I don't want to go back to Sprinter size vans.

I might put it off, I'd like to get 500k up on the Caddy, decisions, decisions.....

Just got back in from STP3 myself, after a 4.30am start and a casual 8 hours and 450 miles of driving today!

Some super racing, and one can never tire of the ever changing variety of ST cars attending every year (due to their owners valiantly battling against serviceability rates, design complexity and parts costs that would rival an English Electric Lightning squadron....)

Great to bump into @wesacosa and @Snipes and put more faces to names whilst checking out some top notch shiting! I've been beaten to the punch for pics of most of the tasty stuff but I'll see if I've got any that haven't been posted so far 😎

Annoyingly I've also just realised I got so engrossed in chatting to Abbie Eaton about how her lovingly recreated Commodore handles Vs a touring car, that I forgot to ask her for a picture 🙃

great to meet you too, sorry I had to rush off without saying goodbye but I got a name check from Patrick Watts on stage and had to bask in the glory 😂 . Pretty sure I saw Eaton  racing that car at Goodwood recently too
