Well the highways agency won’t tow something 50 yards with their big 4x4s. They’d rather wait for a tow truck while a 10 mile tail back builds up on the M6.
That could also be from an insurance and liability point of view. If something went wrong and someone/something got damaged then it'll be on them.

They do when they're being filmed on 'The Motorway' series, if it's in a dangerous position.

I was never really happy with this as my wife's daily, too much LCBL.

Now that she has the A4 Cab to use I can concentrate on tidying this up a bit. I'm going to have a go at refurbishing the wheels myself. I have done this before and now that it's not relied upon I can even do one wheel at a time.

I also want to get the A pillar painted but I'll leave that to someone that knows what they are doing.

Nice to be able to use it myself too.

That's the problem with the whole country frankly.  When did we decide to let insurers and lawyers run our lives?

Apologies, I'm getting on my soapbox already.

More importantly, did we ever get to find out more about the portable pet shop?

I'm surprised and disappointed at the same time that no one has posted the vid of the Clio with a dolly pulling a Renault traffic. Hilarious and frightening simultaneously.

Is that @Kiltox filming?

Also, what a cluster fuck of shit Rennow.

Timing belt, water pump, aux belt and coolant done on the forum bike Audi Cab today. The thermostat was also buggered so that was done too.

Including the car, for a total cost of less than £1500 I'm right pleased with this. My wife loves driving it too. Next jobs are get the locking wheel nuts removed, replace the arm rest, cupholder and driver seat base, plus a few paint touch ups.

After the New Year I'll replace the rocker cover as its leaking quite a bit, thankfully nowhere near the belts.

Got the old steel fuel line off the Princess this afternoon.  That went moderately okay all things considered, didn't need to drain the tank since the fuel didn't get as far as the flexi-join in the fuel line when the front end was jacked up.  Original steel line came off in one piece, and then snapped under its own weight when I picked it up off the floor.  Definitely got my money's worth out of that one.

Somehow when I was refitting the new copper line (no drama, all good, no more fuel leak) my coat snagged on my wing mirror, pulled the glass out of the plastic housing, and dropped it on the floor.  This chipped a corner off the glass.  I then broke it properly when trying to reinstall the glass to get it back in the mirror housing.

Obviously because I'm me these aren't standard mirrors, they're aftermarket ones I bought from abroad many years ago on eBay so fat chance of finding replacement glass right?  WRONG!  I could get an identical pair of new mirrors from a seller in Thailand (might even be the same seller I got the first pair from) for just £48 delivered.  I'm going to have to bodge this broken mirror back on in the meantime because obviously it's the driver's side one that I broke and I recently got rid of all the spare mirrors that I'll definitely never use and had no resale value just a few weeks ago.  Now I've cured the fuel leak I can at least finish the sill repair and then at some point in the near future after I've done that, I'll drop the fuel tank and replace the back half of the fuel line.

Found a local high mileage hero for sale.

411k on the clock.

Mrs Cookie has said NO :(

I really want it, so need to keep badgering her, before someone else snaps up the little beauty.

Buy it, but hide it until she says yes. You know it makes sense.

Our 2015 Civic went in for an MOT yesterday. Naturally passed. No photo as a modern Civic estate isn't particularly interesting.

However there was this 12 plate 1-series on the road. How does a tailgate even get rusty like this?

Left headlight was completely full of condensation inside.

Is Steff still on here. I can't remember username.

I've just got back into Youtube car vids after many months away.

Thanks for vids Steff and hope you had a great time making them. They are fantastic.

Ask Mercedes, every S210 in existence is rusty in that spot.

When no win no fee lawyers were allowed.

Automated online thing for the appeal so I've submitted that with a photo of the car being lifted on to the recovery truck that also shows the recovery company's details on the side.

Submitted the appeal for the parking infringement when I broke down quite a while ago now.  Is it normal for it to take a long time or do they just sort of not tell you if the appeal is accepted?

I took 3 days of annual leave because work has been getting to me a bit.

So I went to Upullit this morning to see if I could get a cupholder for the Audi A4

Who knew that an Avant dash and cuphlder are totally different. Who also knew that a Seat Exeo had a convertible dash in it!  So I came away with two.

What hit the floor all 3 times I removed each one turns out to be a big rolled up spring that makes it pop out. Thankfully I saved the one from my car but I couldn't work out how it goes back in so the cup holder doesn't pop out for now. Better than a scabby hole in the dash though.

I got some seat bolts as well in case I bugger up the ones I take out when replacing the base tomorrow. I'll need to get the right splined bits today though.

I also got a new sharkfin for the Saab as my reception is shite. See if that makes a difference.

A fiver all in!

Took the ex @83C Fabia for an MOT today

Not too bad. Mechanic advised that the NSR coil spring didn't look too clever either so authorised replacing the pair. Unfortunately they can't get the springs before Monday and my car's in bits on the ramp so they dropped off a loan car for me to use. They're a good local indy and I'm grateful they didn't leave me (working/road legal) car-less over the weekend.

I hope the gold 90s Lexus LS I saw at the side of the M6 southbound at J18 this afternoon with a... let's call it severe case of positive camber on one of the front wheels wasn't someone of this parish.

My lovely Connie SE passed its test today with advisories rather than a fail for its back box. It's booked in for a powerflow replacement next Friday,  so that'll be sorted.

Took a trip to my local scrappy today for a rear view mirror for the T5. Completely pointless as a mirror but I missed having somewhere to hang my air freshener 😂 and the screen had the mounting bracket so I picked a mirror up from a Golf.

Couple of my favourites, this yard is primarily absolute chod. AS day out type quality.
