There is a chap in his 50s riding around the pub carpark my study overlooks on a 2t moped. Through the joy of the internet it tells me its an ALKRO ByLight folding 49cc pedal moped

with a novel drive system of toothed recess in the rear wheel

and folds up into this

fascinating. Its not had an MOT since 2013 either, but is whizzing about, looks like fun in the spring sunshine

There we go... that's 1000 (well, 1011 now I'm back home) covered by TPA since she arrived on my driveway more or less in a pile of bits.

Definitely beat the odds this little car.

I used the post-cleaning photo of the original odometer reading as prior to me cleaning it the thing was a bit of an arachnophobe's nightmare when I got the car!

When I remember that poor little thing rattling around in the back of a truck only to end up perched ignominiously on a stack of pallets in a garden near Devil's Bridge (and as I type this, YT has just sent me a notification of a new HubNut video about his Invacar - spooky or wot?!), I think what you've achieved is miraculous and you deserve a medal for it.

Saved myself £185 today.

The Audi has suffered from temperamental electric windows, particularly  the drivers side. They take an age to 'wake up' after turning on the ignition which can be  inconvenient if you forget to put the window up again before turning the car off.

There are 3 very big relays under the dash, number 367 operates the windows.

I took it apart, crikey it looks like one of my dad's old clocks inside!

I carefully inspected it, all looked good but I was informed  that the solder joints could crack. After looking for ages REALLY closely, I found this:

Cracked all the way around. According to the Audi 80 FB page, this is the solder that goes.

I've never soldered anything before but managed to make a neat-ish job of it.

Now I have instantly and consistently working electric windows!

Bit of help needed please, any knowledgeable Alfa Romeo people know why this vacuum capsule may have been disconnected? Is there a known issue with these or has someone just forgotten to replace the connector?

Its a 2.0 Twin Spark Alfa 147, thanks in advance.

Bluebird washer pump turned up today. Fitted, hurrah, now have functional rear washer (the only car on the fleet to have one). 

There's a bit of grot on the wings to keep on top of as well. 

Capri should see a bit of fresh air this weekend, and also a couple of small paint touchups. It'll get proper attention next year.

Noooo. That's the Bluebird washer pump. Capri is blue and lived in North London!

I think I need a larger work vehicle so today I went to see a man who has two T4 Transporters for sale.

No1, the one I particularly went to see :-

€2000. A 102hp 2.5tdi swb with a new test. Not as good as it looks in the photo on closer inspection, with a few body repairs that I would want to redo. Running fine. But not really good enough. I told him so, and just out of interest asked to see the other van:-

€1000. Another 2.5, this time an 88hp and lwb. No test and also an advanced case of lacquer peel. But no suspect body repairs, just a few honest scrapes. Also, it's done 250k miles. It might seem strange, but this van pulled me more strongly.  I don't need a project, however.

Dealer probably has targets and is perhaps slumping at the end of the quarter, probably knocked a few quid off.

Another tank of diesel consumed by the 406. It seems none the worse for its idiot owner (me) putting petrol in it and I am now sure it has a fault with the fuel sender maybe or something else electrical as the fuel gauge goes from full down to a quarter of a tank as normal and then mysteriously and secretly rises back to half. The fuel consumption therefore is inaccurate and reads too low suggesting 33.4 mpg when the actual mpg was 40.7 by the old fashioned brimming method which at an average speed of only 26mph (or 30ish )makes me very happy.  That is now a lot of comfort and power for over 40mpg.
