Admittedly I probably look like I'm homeless sat with my bags and the dog outside the station but I've just been offered some spice by some of Shrewsbury's Street characters!

Doubtful,  there was a lot of new metal put in as I recall though!

Just found out that the garage that burnt down in Newhaven five days ago had a friends broken down BMW in it. :(

Ooo, I'm going to enjoy this one! A5 through the mountains was the perfect first drive. The torque is addictive! I can safely perform overtakes I haven't been able to consider since I had the Cooper S. The vRS does it with far less noise and drama - befitting of the more mature white-bearded man I am these days - not so mature that I didn't cackle like a cheeky kid when I surprised a BMW 420 as we pulled off a roundabout onto a section of dual carriageway.

As I came down the valley towards Llyn Ogwen there was a bong and a warning flashed up on the dash. I pulled over and when I got out of the car thought,  "ffwcin hell it's freezing". Took me far too long to realise that the warning on the dash was because the outside temperature had dropped below 4 degrees! In my defence it's been a long day for both me and the dog! Still the stop was an excuse to take some pictures and reward the Travelling Whippet with a sausage roll for being so well behaved on the journey today.

I queued behind this 12 reg Honda today and when it pulled away it left a mountain of smoke like a 1970s Cortina. Smoking engines seem not something I see much of these days when it used to be common.

Especially rare on a honda! Was it a petrol or a diesel?

White smoke, I suspect petrol.

Squeaky brakes and smokey tailpipes aplenty here in Maidstone and, amazingly, not from the vehicle I'm piloting.

Pre-seatbelt  safety for children. Wedge them in good and tight although for 1935 NCAP 5 stars , you’d need another child in there.

Me and my big mouth.  Guess who has a squeaky front brake now.  Wheel getting a little warm too so it's probably a sticking caliper.  At least they're only basic single pot ones on the Maestro and I've got spares if I need them.

The Peugeot 205 is 40 today (or maybe tomorrow). Happy birthday.

Dad's Astra has decided to call it a day, surprised it honestly lasted as long as it did running on only 3 out of 4 cylinders...

Cheeky barsteward is still insured on the Picanto though, cue me shitting myself on my day off when I couldn't see my car on the sodding car park outside my flat!

The joys of having the old duffer living next door to me, though he does feed the cat when I'm at work. 🤣

Heck, I keep falling off the internet!

My Facebook notifications are an obscene and uncountable number now...

Anyway, I have washed both my Volvos, had a sqeek fixed in the alternator of the 740 and a rattle fixed (that was a broken pully) on the V70.

Looks like I'll have to continue to look at noises on the alternator or alternator belt of the V70, and get a cam belt. But that will get done, car is fantastic and going strong.

I am about 120 miles from a milage milestone with the V70, if I can get a photo I will! I hope I can.

The Fiesta received a new cambelt after I decided my 6 month long game of cam belt roulette was long enough and I really should pull my finger out and JFDI. I had a Gates belt fitted... after the garage discovered the Bosch Mk.6 Fiesta kit I had bought last month was completely wrong! I guess the Internet debate on whether my Fez is a Mk.5 or Mk.6 also extends to parts vendors.

The 850 got a new set of tyres which, unlike the last set, are all the same size, the same make and the same tread pattern. It actually feels rather nippy now. Still a very relaxing experience on the journey to work. It and the Ford need an oil change and I'm going to try and fix the powered aerial and headlining. I also need to set to modifying the PCV system as well.

I fell into a time warp earlier.

Driving home from collecting the Dacia from the paint shop I followed a Citroen ZX Volcane up Portsdown hill on the M27, then overtook an immaculate H-reg Vauxhall rascal on the a32.

I haven't seen an example of either vehicle IRL for about 15 years!

Never mind, it stopped doing it.
