Well bought.

Looking at the photos, I reckon this would suit a pub landlord like this.

That is fantastically shit. Good work keeping it away from the Oval.

Wow, that looks proper grim, electric seats must be pretty rare even in the Ghia? With a bit of love this could improve quite a bit.

You bad bad man!

I absolutely love these! Very much reminds me of my old estate version. Same interior and everything. Is the paint Mineral blue by any chance? Looks like it in the photos. Probably the car I most regret selling.

Awesome cars. My dad used to have a Granada 2.8 Ghia X back in 1996. My most vivid memory of that car was @DaveDorson getting smacked in the head by a bag of tent poles in the back of it.

We were coming back from a camping holiday one night in a very loaded car when some deer jumped out in front of us. No one knows how my dad managed to avoid them, but he did leave some really impressive tyre marks on the road that night. It happened on a fast down hill near Rutland Water, and I was asleep up until tyres started screeching. I remember my parents asking if we were all ok and Dave replying 'not really!'. To be fair it was a bag of steel poles from a very old and sturdy tent.

My mates mum used to have the estate version, that was a cool car too.

My dad had a couple of these, not the Ghia as far as I remember, possibly the GL. Used to buy them at the auction, keep them for a couple of years and then sell them. The other thing I remember them for is mini cabs. Always stank of fags, booze and overpowering naff 'air freshener'.

Nicely done...... Uncles mate, a sprayer, had a. 2.8 Ghia - immaculate. Stolen 4yrs back from his parents place as his lockup was a bit damp.

I now always think of WORLDS END every time I see these.

The ultimate car?

Bloke over the road had a brand new one when I was a boy, he used to ferry us kids about in it at 120 mph chain smoking Castella Classics with the windows wound up.

Those were the days.

Fantastic!  I had an estate in the same colour with the same engine / gearbox combo (although that was a lowly GL spec).  Lovely old thing to drive, and actually quicker along my favourite back road than the Cosworth-engined Scorpio I also owned at the time.

Thanks. It looks quite at home.

The Union used to be quite rough (for Tavi). Is it still 'winner stays on' at the pool table?

Please send a video of the V6 purring.

Trouble is, I’ve forgotten what they sound like, away from the oval and with exhausts being open

Sad state of affairs

I've always been of the opinion that the Mk2 is about as good as a car can get and everything since has been a retrograde step.  Still looks good and always will.

I thought UH was a Cardiff reg. I guess HMC’s Granny was registered there but then sold out of Brum.

I had a Fiat Tipo ‘GUH’ in the mid 1990s, sold by the brilliantly named ‘Yapps Garage’. Think it was supplied new to Cardiff University.

I also had a Cortina originally sold by Meteor Ford, many many years ago.

Fucking brilliant and exactly how a Mk2 Granada should look in my mind, mainly from growing up on the Essex border in the late 90s/early 2000s. I love it (and will be keeping an eye out for the sale ad in a month or so.)

Fair play, you are definitely on your way to owning one of every car before you die!

Living all our dreams :D

Lovely. I hope you’re fitting a phone in the rear armrest for some George Cowley-style barking of orders to Bodie and Doyle.

As this was a 2.0 L Manual with no PAS and felt like a totally different beast.
