brownnova Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Hmm... actually planning to be in Warwickshire visiting parentals over the Bank Holiday weekend and that isn’t far at all from the FoD... so now it’s a straight shoot out between heading home Sunday night and going to a car show locally on the Monday or stopping Sunday night and coming to the FoD... hmmm... chaseracer 1
wuvvum Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Ooh, I should be able to make this one. LightBulbFun 1
Stanky Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Yes please. It'd give me a chance to have a run out in the Daihatsu and meet some people I'm not immediately related to. My preference would be the Sunday as i have boring family duties on Saturday and potentially a family get-together on the Monday evening. I'd just be a day tripper.
Floatylight Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Been tootling round in @Six-cylinders 306 convertible and doing a bit of tinkering. Todays tinkering abs light, thought I'd start with the front sensors and the problem was immediately obvious.. https://photos.app.goo.gl/YLznQsF6Cq9YFL2d9 Sorting this for @Six-cylinderis a bit beyond my capabilities, anyone localish (Stafford) a willing volunteer if I get the bit? Alternatively it's going to be a garage job. Six-cylinder 1

richardmorris Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I can’t make it sorry. Visiting the bubble for the weekend.

The rings are easy enough to fit as you do them in the same manner as the ring gear on a flywheel: Get it *bastard* hot, drop it on, let it cool. It's actually more work to dismantle and get to the CV joint than it is to do the work. If you bring it to the FOD for the weekender, I have no doubt we could fit it. Floatylight 1
dozeydustman Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 @Heidel_Kakao & @Crackers if you're free for a cuppa this Saturday I'd be more than happy to meet up. I'm working 5:30 am - 2pm doing my office crap and missed bins round so will be out and about, or later on. Sorry to hijack thread.

This Saturday I am fetching an engine from Yorkshire, but when I am at Goodwood we should definitely meet for a cuppa.
beko1987 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 It's after payday and I can bring the kids now without breaking the rools. Probably see you Saturday. I did start telling mum but she went off on something else and I'll try again tomorrow Six-cylinder 1

I'm about most weekends. I'd love to turn up to an AS meet with a cart. can't see work liking that though, even if I pay for diesel (at 3.5mpg, I won't be!) CaptainBoom 1

Probably not going to he able to get down for the weekender as 3 x aily birthdays that weekend (Mum's 70th and SmollestFL 's 18th) but probably try and bring it back to @Six-cylinderbefore then if you reckon it's a FOD job or I could drop it with Chris' tame mechanic.. what say you Chris?

Andyrew Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Some carlton loving has happened. I only really do welding at the workshop on days off so evening times ive looked at some other little bits. Yesterday i put the patch in on the rear rail bend bit. What as arse that was. Everything was in the way and the metal contaminated so spitter spatter and very ugly. But its MOT standard id say. The subframe needs dropping rear and it doing properly but thats a can of worms that cant be opened right now. Urgh. The patch @Talbot knocked up was slowly butt welded in. The exhaust system in now fully fitted. Ive broken the rules here and put some gun gum on the flanges before and after the cat. I went to do the front section and the replacement that was in the car didnt fit well and the sensor hole was in the wrong place. With the manifold bolts looking a bit sorry and the o2 sensor probably having been in there for 28 years i decided to leave along and fit the original front section back. The issue is the flanges have almost desolved and wouldnt mate properly to seal up. So filed as flat as i could and a smear of gun gum went on either side of the gasket. A new clamp was knocked up from the hanger bracket that donated its hooks for the back box. The one at the front had snapped off many years ago by the looks of things. Tow bar also came off and a busted headlight tab was glued back on. Today should see the chassis leg grot patched up and another wee hole that appeared when the airbox came out. Could be an idea seeing as it's going to have it's fuel leak attended to during the week and I'd like to see a long journey MPG figure but I'm not sleeping in a 205 at the FoD so it would need to be an tent (HAH NO) or an hotel or bring the 740.
wuvvum Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Given the distance you'd be travelling I think 205 + night in the Travelodge would work out cheaper than 740 + sleeping bag in the boot. The Moog 1
