Six-cylinder Posted June 4, 2022 Author Posted June 4, 2022 FoD Sunday 5th June Due to a poor weather forecast nobody is camping Saturday night. I am not planning to go to the FoD at the usual 10am Sunday. If you are planning to visit us tomorrow please PM me so we can arrange a meet up time. bobdisk and Snake Charmer 2

Crackers Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Home safe and sound after an emergency midnight run home due to tomorrow's weather forecast. Thanks again to the Cylinders for having me and cheers everyone for a good day. The S3 didn't skip a beat all the way home despite a pretty comprehensive thrashing round the empty lanes for most of the route. Fumbler, Floatylight, Dyslexic Viking and 8 others 11

MrDuke Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 You say potato, I say tomato 😜 It was utterly delightful, either way.
High Jetter Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 You may say tomato, but I say potatoe! I know, it's 'barge' engineering!

Six-cylinder Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 The results for FoD are in, A narrow victory for Autoshiters over the weather! That's a long time since I have driven a Japanese 90's car and my conclusion was it is so easy that @wuvvumlong trip from the North Sea only really counted as average effort as it was so easy to waft along in the Carina E gobbling miles. I would have taken a picture of @beko1987 Xsara if it had stayed in one place for long enough! That is 3 years since the E-Type has been out and thanks to @Talbot suffering breakdowns in it and fixing it, it has been fine all weekend. How many Shiters does it take to fix a horn on an Ami! Afternoon/evening sunshine saw the first running of the Miniature railway, only one derailment so far! Great day with a fantastic mix of visiting cars . Crackers, Flat4, wuvvum and 12 others 14 1
Six-cylinder Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 Today Sunday we have no campers so I am not going up at 10am as usual. However I am still free and if you want to visit pm me a time I I will meet you.
brownnova Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 7.30am start 11.05pm back home, 348 miles covered! But totally worth it, what a lovely day out! Thanks @Six-cylinderand @Mrs6C for your amazing hospitality at the FoD again, and even more so for allowing me to pilot the Ami to bring it to the field. What a car, and firmly on the want list now! Great company, great fun and great cars! IMG_6355.MOV Sunny Jim, Flat4, Dyslexic Viking and 6 others 9
wuvvum Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Fantastic day out once again! The Toyota managed the round trip (just short of 300 miles) on £50 of petrol, which isn't bad going for a 26-year-old family hatchback given current petrol prices. Also concur with what has been said above - the Ami is fantastic fun and I want one! I also quite fancy my own 7 1/2" gauge railway but sadly my garden isn't quite big enough...

GoGently Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 As well as fixing the Ami's horn, a bolt graft from the yellow Visa secured the wing after losing a nut on its travels . The nut behind the wheel is still there👍 LightBulbFun, beko1987, bobdisk and 1 other 1 3
LightBulbFun Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Many thanks to @Mrs6C and @Six-cylinder (and everyone else) for hosting another awesome FoD gathering @Crackers's Landy was very awesome, really hope someday ill have the chance to drive one to see how truly awful it is just sitting in it stationary the gearshift was something all on its own LOL, I will say a surprisingly comfortable place to sit, im sure its not in motion, but just sitting there going nowhere its far more comfortable then most moderns I Have been in, when did lose the ability to make seats rather then funny shaped ironing boards... there was an impressive lineup of cars and many thanks to @bub2006 who lent me use of his Mobility scooter for me to get around the FoD on in lieu of REV not being available, it very much made a big difference and it was nice to be able to follow the group (although I do notice that no ones mowed the grass around poor dolly!) as mentioned above, the Ami was a shed load of fun (its also really good at being a good comfortable car when driven gently as well, not many cars can be both fun driven flat out and ride well and comfortably when driven sedately as well) I can very much get why @dollywobbler gets very frustrated at tourists on his welsh roads, as we got got stuck behind this Audi "your in a big expensive car why are you breaking for these corners that we can take flat out in our 1970's 602cc French car! and need to do so to conserve our momentum! " (although I will admit the Ami sounds very nice when you drop it from 4th to 3rd and mash you foot to the floor) and it was very awesome to have a go on the FoD Railway and electric locomotive I was not sure what to expect, but whatever i was expecting, it was far better then those expectations, I really look forward to when the line is completed and we get a full train on the go once agan many thanks to all who came and who put up with me LOL Vantman, beko1987, Mrs6C and 1 other 4
beko1987 Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 We didn't have a single car infront of us on the way home, was a lovely drive at mostly 70 bar the 30 zones 😂

The seats offer absolutely no vertical or lateral support and various bits of the interior poke and prod you in corners. Pretty much anything short of an actual ironing board would be more comfortable. Fumbler, AnthonyG, RayMK and 3 others 4 2
Crackers Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Since we were missing @Talbot from the field meet I decided to declare myself the day's FODtographer. We didn't get over 60 once on the way to the chippy and back. It just feels faster than it is because of the engine noise and the comedy lean angles in corners. I had my foot to the floor quite a bit but that is the only way to make progress in an A-series Citroën. An experienced 2CVer (and one who wasn't driving somebody else's car...) would hold onto the gears a lot longer and carry more speed through the bends and would have left us for dead! beko1987, LightBulbFun, Crackers and 2 others 4 1
Fumbler Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 It was an Grate Day at the FoD. None of my pictures are in any way as good as @Crackers' but I'll post a few. GM Corner The inaugural rail proving run Oh no! A derailment. The derailment assessment team was assembled The cleanest Acclaim I've ever seen- @GoGently is taking very good care of it The farmer goes shopping The farmer tries to scare off a French interloper ...and fails. This was probably the closest we got to the Ami. "High speed tractor" it definitely was! Crackers, richardmorris, Mrs6C and 7 others 10
Crackers Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 How many Shiters does it take to changefix a lightbulbhorn fuse? Well you need one to poke and prod the wiring. One to read the manual... It's no hope guvnor, it doesn't say so in here. One to operate the horn switch. And then somehow, you add 1+1+1 and end up with eight! Fumbler, brownnova, LightBulbFun and 10 others 6 1 6
