My old Bonnie was right foot change and 'cos I put rearsets on it, the change was reversed as well, up for first then down for the next three! I used to get really confused for about the first tan gearchanges and then I was fine again. Not long after I got it, I had a 'blonde' moment on the Dartmouth ferry - wet and I was asked to move. went for the back brake and changed into second gear, panicked and grabbed the front brake and dropped the flaming thing.... ooh, I did feel a berk.

Well I sold the deauville so now to find a new toy on leboncoin. At the moment there are 3 in the running, all small bikes as I need to be able to get it inside the caravan to bring it back.

First up this little Peugeot

Next is this Motobecane 125. It is a bit pricey but should turn a profit.

It is a tough one to decide as whatever I get I am bound to get fed up with it and have to flog it on without losing too much

This is just lovely if you ever buy one and get fed up with it, I'd have it in a shot and I'd run it as it is.

I keep thinking I should pop over the channel with the van for a few days to look for and buy 3 or 4 myself. I really should stop thinking and do some doing.

  • 5 weeks later...

I don't, but when you get one, I have a motorbike you can put on it.  Cross-post from the Ebay thread in case anyone is interested.

Shameless (actually, quite shameful) self-promotion.  Gave up on it this afternoon due to incompetence, frustration and lack of time.  I hate selling something on in worse condition than I bought it but I have to hold my hands up and admit defeat.  Shiter's discount may apply, PM me if you're interested.

I have one, but never use it, preferring the frame I bought a couple of years back that solelylifts the front wheel. Towing along behind.

Like A frames, I was initially sceptical , but a bit of practice found it actually works ( although I've only done about 20 miles so far, in various tows)

Anyone wanna buy a Fizzy?  1977, red, disc brake on front, decent nick but has been standing in a shed for two years.  Ace town bike.

This photo was taken before the bike went into the shed.

Very nice, but anyone that can afford to buy that ain't gonna use it as a town bike. Investment, innit?

When I was 16 my Fizzy would do at least 70 and I looked cool as fuck. I shagged loads of birds and I could beat any man in a fight, I could also drink 10 cans of Colt 45 and I could stay out till 11 on Saturdays.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to have a bike now because Mrs N knows how many fit birds I'd pull.post-17414-0-49383200-1435533801_thumb.jpg

Y'see, with the Fizzy you could at least dream. When I was in 6th form I had a Puch MS50... nuff said

There are some loons who ride theirs to Brighton, apparently.

Where from? Hove?

I also had an MS50 at school (mine was complete with legshields). It kept up with an SS50 and was nearly a match for a fizzy but my mates Garelli Tiger Cross was genuinely fast and nothing could catch it.

I sold the Puch and replaced it with a Neval (Minsk) 125 whilst still at school. The km/h speedo gave me superior bragging rights ("on a good day it'll do 115" etc etc).

Where from? Hove?

Reminds me of a few years ago, we happened to be on holiday in Florida at the same time as Daytona Bike Week, tens of thousands of Harley' riders from all over America converge on Daytona Beach and Speedway.

Convinced Mrs N to have a day out there, just to have a look.

Every motel from about 50 miles out of Daytona had car parks full of pickup trucks and trailers, so much for EasyRider type road trips, Wusses !

Every year I ride the 800 miles or so down to the Czech Republic to meet up with a load of mates for a couple of days, and have done this for the last 7 years.

Next year I want to do it on a CZ or Jawa, just for comedic value if nothing else-they all seem to ride BMW GS1200's. If I can't find one (preferably a 350 Jawa) before then I'll take my125 cc Yamaha scooter. So if anyone knows of a Jawa 350 for sale or swap (I'd prefer a very early 1980's model), let me know.....
