Another big box of assorted diecast tat arrived for me today…

I’ve already had a quick gander in there and early signs are quite promising!

Theres some of the obligatory rubbish but some good stuff too. Some stuff I’ve never seen & am unfamiliar with too. But first things first, that Corgi Jag on top is absolutely gorgeous and has two suitcases still in the boot!

Oh and also there’s a complete and working Corgi Man From Uncle car there too… @sutty2006

Where do you find all this stuff? 🤣

And there was this vintage card game, which looked kinda interesting:

Likely along the lines of 'Your Sunbeam-Talbot has broken a conrod on the Col de Turini - miss a turn while you refill your pipe and your navigator whittles a new one with his trusty penknife.'

Ah, the good ol' days.

You might want to snap that up if you get the chance as some value it quite highly

For what it's worth (£0, probably), your expedition has been the undoubted highlight of my day. For context, I'm currently subbing a first drive of the Mercedes-Benz EQE. Make of that what you will.

😆

The important thing is that I do find this stuff, then I can drip feed it to the Autoshite diecast community!

Have you done anything with that Lesney Mini I sent you? I only ask as there’s a pretty good one in this box that’s missing it’s glazing if your interested!? It’s a much nicer casting & paint than that other one.

Funny enough I also bid on a Lone Star after the recent discussion of them

Chrysler Imperial looks like it should be parked on a New York side street in about 1980

Good to see the headlamp jewel pairs are intact...

* dashes off to check the example here has them *

* returns *

Phew!  Yes.

Glad you picked that one up, did have it watch-listed as an axle donor for this one, picked up a couple of weeks ago.

IMG_20230106_171146.thumb.jpg.72e11d72147f0c3fdbcf7698d57053b7.jpg

But then I had a brain-storm* and bought the Corvette instead as a 'Flyer' wheel style axle donor, for £1.99 (posted!).  Only to then realise that the track is much wider on the Corvette!  Well of course it would be, the Imperial is nearer 1:73.  So the possible donor Rolls Royce might have to do, not that I wanted it to be.

What it does have though is a similar hood-prop!

The unknown orange truck in the middle was broken into two pieces and heavily mangled - some sort of crane truck?

Thought for a while there, that would the remains of the Dinky Coles Crane

But no.  I was swayed by the teasing of orange.

There’s a few odd ones in this box. Some plastic cars from Sweden & Norway, a few Tonka’s, some form of Triang military thingy… definitely something for everyone this box.

I'm going to be annoying and say there is a Matchbox Hispano Suiza in there

Cor.. a Marx 'Powerhouse' searchlight truck.  Cab being a Ford C-series, mid-1960s.  Never seen one of those before.

Not sure what is going on in the background though.  Is that a Santa bend double?  Never seen one of those before either

Yes, that was a new one on me too - thanks for the ID on it!

What's going on behind appears to be some kind of Bernie Clifton get-up where the costume-wearer has a Santa costume up top and a reindeer costume around the lower half, with false legs to give the vague impression of riding a reindeer (not generally recommended)

Bill Lear 8-track fans?  Well they will be me.  I have a 1970s Akai 'lo-fi' deck here and plenty of tapes of the greats from the Moodies, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc.  Probably Perry Como too, if that is your thing.

Surprising how many 8-track cartridges still turn up on that stall, although they always seem to tend towards 'Bert Kaempfert's Trumpets For Swingin' Lovers' and 'Twelve Billion Strings Play Strauss' rather than Led Zep and Deep Purple... I do tend to have a riffle through them, just in case!

Is the sound quality any good on them? I had a load of cassettes from the 1970s (Hendrix, Who, Jam) bought very cheap during the closing-down sale at an old local music store in the mid '90s, but they were so fuzzy-sounding they were nearly unlistenable...

Cheers man! It's been sitting on me for the best part of a fortnight now; it's surely got to bugger off soon...

Crumbs, that's a fair whack... I'll have a look next time I'm in, though games do tend to sell quickly from the stall.

At one stage I did have a habit of checking online listings and buying things from the market that I thought I could sell on for a bit extra, but inevitably my stunning* business acumen led me to make increasingly dud acquisitions... I have a spreadsheet detailing what I paid for the stuff, and what I ultimately sold it on for.

I do not look at that spreadsheet.

Heh, cheers dude! I think we can all do with a bit of tat-rummaging, even if only virtually!

Not sure if I have any, I did do a custom Lone Star but again it was a Corvette, sorry "Gran Turismo"

There was the Zodiac gasser too, but I think that had the later wheels that look like 60s Matchbox. Funny enough, this is one of my other Imperials

Possibly yes!

I haven’t had chance to start it yet! Works been a nightmare this week so that’s got in the way. I have however restored the ISO Grifo, I’ll get some pictures up in a bit. It’s unrecognisable!

Can’t wait to see the Grifo, it was a right mess before!

I’m just having a good dig into this box so I’ll get some photos up soon.
Since the weather is meant to be absolutely shit tomorrow I’ll most likely begin getting a diecast 4 sale thread going. I’ll link it to this thread so I’m not filling the pages here.

These ones I’m not sure about! Not things I’m familiar with tbh.

This err, thing, is by Triang but that’s all it says.

These are the plastic ones. Again, not brands I’m familiar with. They look like toy cars for very young children before they graduate on to diecast with leaded paint and small bits to choke on!

The VW says this on bottom:

The other two are from this brand:

These plastic ones will most likely be 4 sale. They’re not really my cup of tea.

Found a Tonka dune buggy too!
