@eddyramrod speaking of Corgi Cortinas, are these wheels that I took off the Atlas Cortina any good to you, for the Vanguards MK2 or one of the Consul/Granadas?

Not 'arf!  I'd be highly delighted with those, thank you!  You have my details?

Christ!! That took some uploading😆

Ill probably get in trouble now from the mods for all those pics! Worth it though.

Still not sure what I’m keeping and what can go, but there are some beauties here. There are some duplicates and projects I might well move on, others I’ll need to think about!
And, in the next few weeks I’m getting a big collection I’ve had since I was a kid out of the loft (it’s not seen daylight for at least 20 odd years!) and I’ll go through all that too, which probably will need thinning out.

Great collection there. Thanks for posting

Got my parcel from @danthecapriman

The Marina is a perfect candidate for restoration as its complete, intact and in great solid condition.

I want to find a colour close to this original as I think it really suits it.

Cheers Dan!

Missed the chat about Marinas. One of my favourite colour was Lagoon Metallic

That's cool, trying not to buy big stuff now as I'm running out of storage room.

I would have thought that would get snapped up on eBay though

Its not that big, only about 265mm ....

If anyone wants bigger I've got a vintage Kyosho tractor trailer Peterbilt rig in need of finishing, that comes in at over 1000mm..

Pictures have disappeared again 😧

I've been sorting through the loft for boxes of toy model cars and found some that I really like..

I may have posted this before, it's a 1/43 (maybe) Hot Wheels. It originally had all the Boss 302 stickers which were printed on clear vinyl  and they discoloured and I pulled them off and binned them, but wish I had them still now...

The shape of it is just right and I love the rear window louvres...

Did they make many in this series?

Roof, bonnet and boot were white* which I didn't like and painted black. Looks much better...

*Edit; I think they were actually yellow yuck!

Opening boot, bonnet and doors, always a disappointment if they don't on large scale...

There was some talk about the Corgi Mk3 Cortina, I've just noticed mine is actually signed by Graham Hill, result!

Corgi 2CV, I bought two of these and the other I converted into a van painted cornflower blue, this is still in box with Woolworth's price sticker...

Corgi Lamborghini Miura with hole in windscreen from when it went under the settee, pretty sure I wasn't upset at all...

Did they actually make any with "golden jacks"?

The Dinky TR7 is really nice, I love the look of it as a model even though I'm not a fan of the real thing...

Dude. That is awesome.

Potted history is that Mattel bought Mebetoys, who made some lovely things, and rebranded them as Hot Wheels. These were initially also fantastic. As time went on, the bean counters took over and the quality slipped a bit. OK a lot.

BRB with some pics...

Mebetoys. This is the only pre-Mattel era one I've found, a Maserati Mistral Coupe

This was the first one I found, by accident really on eBay and bought it without knowing anything about them at the time - Lotus Europa

Last of the really great era examples in my collection is this Chevrolet Astro II Concept

As time went on, the quality decreased but they were still pretty good

Mebetoys VW Golf MK1Hot Wheels Mebetoys Porsche 944Hot Wheels Mebetoys Ford Escort

Later on it all went a bit cheap and nasty, but I still can't help buying them

I've got plenty more unboxed ones tucked away.

The takeover did lead to some other interesting things, such as Mebetoys branded Hot Wheels;

Hot Wheels Mebetoys Auburn 852

But what I'd really love to get my hands on one day, are some of the larger scale versions of classic Hot Wheels produced during this period by Mebetoys;

This R5?

How about a Matra (green was popular)

Hot Wheels Mebetoys Matra Simca Rancho

Now I've made the mistake of looking on ebay and yeh, that R5 but  in red looks lovely and there's a Volvo 323 and Toyota 2000GT but crazy prices! Not bothered about the Rancho as I have Corgi and Juniors versions.

That 928 you've just added looks lovely too, what scale is it?

I don't know, fairly large though - puts me in mind of Bburago although I'm aware that doesn't help!

Missed another early Mattel Mebetoys that I need to take better pictures of - Lamborghini Miura

The Fiat was a rally car in the Olio Fiat livery of dark blue and yellow.
