But this is the best find (and it was in a cheap lot with the Kadett)

I dug that 1/18 Welly Astra H out of the loft as the picture I had of it was from 2011 when I was unpacking my cars after a house move.

I bought it back in 2007, before Welly quality and finish improved markedly with their Nex brand. As such it's a little crude in some areas but the CDTi engine detail is good.

Oh, that's lovely. Thanks for the pics. As I've said, I've not bought a 1/18 for years, but I'd make an exception for that! Though I'm not sure exactly what I'd do with it...

Plus the only one I've seen on eBay recently was £70...

Talking of bugs, I bought a job lot of very grubby VWs for just one car. But 1st, here's the Superkings K-14 Recovery Vehicle. Recoloured from the Battle Kings K-110 and still being named as such on the base, along with both code numbers

20221231_134129.thumb.jpg.45aeae30f2e89b1b144a8d4eee481d75.jpg20221231_134138.thumb.jpg.ca73b4f8e67f16050521525ced56def8.jpg20221231_134203.thumb.jpg.2201f1e88dea9e687200761951496821.jpg

Lovely sprung action to the rear boom on these.

Next up is a Lucky Toys Mercedes emergency vehicle

Now Lucky are not afraid of copying smaller cars for their big plastic efforts, but I can't think that this is similar to anything other than the Corgi Juniors Merc Bus?

Talking of Corgis, these two turned up

I thought the SL might be a repaint but it's original, just with no chrome left on the red plastic bumpers!

Here's the VW I wanted, but it's also opened a can of worms.

I've been after a Polistil Go-Bug for ages, but they go for a lot of money. I also thought they were about 1:43 scale. However I spotted this one in a job lot of common Corgi and Matchbox and won it - and it's a Guisval in around 1:64 scale, so there's a thing

I'd really like one of those, since seeing one in a Tomica catalogue. Still in your collection?

Not sure. I've had (or have) one with a Rolls grill as well. I have boxes in my spare room that are buried and unopened for years and have lost track of what's there. A sure sign that I have far too much and should get rid of everything but the most wanted.

That go-bug reminds me of the Polistil Funny Cars (Series MG) in 1/60th. I nearly brought the Mini once but have been resisting buying every toy cars I see.

Same pop-up headlight setup as the Celica Supra from the same era. I wonder how many other cars Corgi reused them on? To this day, I have no idea where my Celica went - it was immaculate from what I remember.

Only other things of note today were these premium sets in Smyths

20221231_110037.thumb.jpg.535c3b94fff4191229fb1fa8629145ba.jpg

And an error car (no chrome on rear wheel)

20221231_150819.thumb.jpg.5e1b1088a92534012d0df0961de1cd3a.jpg

I should also mention that Entertainer have put Hot Wheels up to £2.40 each! Still on 3 for 2 so £1.60 each. B+M is about the cheapest at £1.49 currently

The Marina is a perfect candidate for restoration as its complete, intact and in great solid condition.

I want to find a colour close to this original as I think it really suits it.

Cheers Dan!

Damask red or blaze would be nice period reds although theyre non metallic. I'd like to do one as a TC in black tulip!

My pleasure! Glad it’s gone to a good home. Although I do recommend you empty the ash trays!😆

Ive actually got both versions of this Marina. The red one is in one of the pics I posted a page or two back and the urine green one is around somewhere too. Very nice looking models imho, especially with those sparkly headlights.

Just spent the afternoon going through boxes of the old toy cars I mentioned before.
Anything anyone can tell me about any of them (rarity/value etc etc) much appreciated! I don’t really know that much about the collectible side of things, I just love them for what they are!

Most are Dinky and Corgi toys, but there’s also Lesney/Matchbox and a few others too.

The Oldsmobile Toronado is a Corgi golden jacks jobby. Still works too.
Brinks truck still has the two boxes of US treasury gold bullion in the back too.
