sierraman
Father Xmas brought me the Bill Manzke Corgi Book. Really good read, probably not up to the standard of the Great Book of Corgi but not a hundred quid neither. For now I'm making do with a tidy unboxed example. My Christmas goodies: All from Miss SL and her BF, they individually wrapped them and I had to leave the RS2000 until last. One or two duplicates there, but that'll give me an excuse to open them up and maybe do a bit of custom/detailing work. Also found time on Christmas Eve to go through the various boxes and piles of carded HW/MBX purchases. I had a horrible feeling that I might have bought a few duplicates, but there weren't many at all. A few where I do have various colours, it appears the Mk1 RX7 and Datsun Fairlady Roadster are castings I particularly like.... Have managed to find a few minutes between Christmas events to get on with the little Heller kit: Hoping to get some colour onto it today, probably a suitably '70s colour like this bronze I saw a few years ago: Metallic blue looks good on them, but seems to be the default choice. The blue is obviously the traditional Alpine works colour, hence why so many are finished that way. I can't say I have seen that bronze before, but my favourite is silver. FakeConcern
As usual I used the excuse of presents for Mrs Concern to put in her summer house (For those who wonder what I'm talking about, it's about 1/4 down this page https://autoshite.com/topic/20735-doesnt-fit-anywhere-else-shite-thread/page/4/ but it has changed a fair bit now as so much has been added to it) to buy some interesting toys models. She already has a tatty orange Corgi Beach Buggy with a broken screen and a tidy purple one with a sailing boat, so I got her this one with surfboards... It has a slight crack on the bar holding one of the boards, but when choosing (on ebay) I couldn't find one that didn't even really expensive ones and this was cheap... While searching for the Kees Saab 9000 (a few pages back) I came across this... Which fits with the seaside theme. The mark on the screen is where a sticker has been, I've yet to try cleaning it off... I particularly like this job lot of Matchbox XR3i with boat on trailer and Corgi Juniors XR3i (also had a pink Cadillac Allante not shown). The white XR3i is pretty much perfect while the red one is pretty tatty with soggy suspension... It does have a tow hook as well so will be able to hook a boat or caravan to it as well... Similar, but not the same graphics... Split_Pin, Tenmil Socket, JMotor and 3 others

Spottedlaurel
Alpine A310 is moving on nicely: Limited parts count! There are some clear pieces too. AnnoyingPentium
My Dad bought me this about 16 or 17 years ago, it's survived house moves and Christ knows what else, but it shows. Was meaning to show this one off a while back, but had never dug it out of the drawer of doom (TM). It's a nice wee casting IMO. This one is looking quite rough now (as would be expected), but I'm glad to still have it. There's a few others from this time I'm sure, I'll have to go a look around the house I reckon. Spottedlaurel
Inspired by seeing this 1:1 example on my French holiday: A few weeks ago I took a few photos of the Majorette version I have in a cabinet at work. Very similar being an early example in the gold colour, even down to the broken front bumper.... As I think @Split_Pin mentioned recently, it has the usual Paris '75' plate. What did Majorette put in the boot? Just a case this time. I thought I might have picked it up on a previous French holiday, but it turns out to have come from a toy fair here back in 2020 amongst a batch of other Majorettes: On the subject of toy fairs, what are people's plans for 2023? Relatively local to me it looks like there's Brentwood on Jan 14th, then Ipswich, Norwich and St Ives, Cambs in February. Never yet done Brentwood, is that one of the big ones? Split_Pin
The local Falkirk Swapmeet, which has been held in various locations near me since the late 1940s stopped during Covid. I had attended every month since 1989 although after the mid 2000s I stopped going quite so regularly due to having ebay, a mortgage and an expanding 1:1 fleet. It was organised by a well known Falkirk model shop, McLaren Models. However I checked recently to see if it had started again and I was saddened to find that it had been cancelled for good. Mclaren Models had closed their shop around 2017 and were online only but when I checked recently, it hadn't been updated for a long time. The family who ran it were ageing and I think they just wanted to retire. There is a big toy fair in Errol near Perth in May so I'm definitely going to that. Other than this, there's nothing else in my area. hennabm

Split_Pin
This time last year I was planning to sell a lot of my diecast and although I did a couple of job lots on Marketplace, I think I have bought just as many, which always happens! So in 2023 I'm going to continue collecting Majorette, Mira, Pilen, Guisval and other small European cars. I also fancy getting a few more French Atlas cars as the 3 I already have hit the spot! This is the thing. I end up ‘saving’ things that are remotely interesting then get them home and end up unsure what to do with them. Take this Escort with the grill missing, I cannot fathom what to do with it apart from hope for finding a dead one to take the grill off. Brentwood is fairly big and busy (not as big as somewhere like Sandown Park though). I'll be going to Brentwood and Rayleigh - in fact I've just been there today, bit of an odd day to hold it but it was as full as ever. Didn't take many pics, but this caught my eye as I wasn't familiar with it - typically 5 mins later i saw a loose one too. Not buying single seaters anymore as they don't especially interest me This seemed a bit funky for the usually staid Britains One of the regulars had bought a collection of busses off a collector. They're up there with the likes of the smooth Granada/Cortina Ghia alloys. I'm working on the detail of this kit at this very moment, Heller did a really nice job on it. It would be interesting to see whether the modern reissue is as a sharp a moulding. They've got some nice stuff coming out in 2023, including a couple of interesting 1:24 trailers and R4 van: https://www.heller.fr/en/category/vehicle-only_coming_soon Looking at the current 1:43 range I'd like to get the VW K70, R5 Turbo and maybe the Peugeot 403.
