Spartacus - Collection update on page 5

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping this is the correct area to post this.

I'm @spartacus partner and I've joined up unfortunately to announce some bad news.

It is with a very heavy heart I am writing this. Approx 6 weeks ago spartacus (Giles) became very unwell and was admitted to Chesterfield Royal with a ruptured spleen. This was eventually removed however with an underlying diagnosis of advanced cancer (Mantle Cell Lymphoma) his prognosis was not great. Giles has tried fighting this, been under various Specialists and various Wards. He has put up one hell of a fight. However even Giles knows you can only fight this for so long.

Sadly Giles passed away peacefully on Saturday 15th May 2021 at 11:30am he was surrounded by his family and friends. He will leave many a sad tear behind.

He spoke often of autoshite and spent many an evening browsing through this website. He really loved it.

Giles has asked me to auction (roffle?) off one of his vehicles... A Fiat Panda (obviously not the car in the photo), which he requested the money be donated to a good cause. I'll try and find the thread/area to do this and keep all updated.

I am incredibly sorry to hear this news. Condolences to you and your family.  Although I never met him he always seemed a good sort on here.

When the time is right, If you want any assistance with the roffle please don’t hesitate to ask.

Welcome to AS Mrs Spart, really sorry to hear this, I'm sure everyone here will join me in condolences for your loss.

He was a top bloke - as you know, and will be missed. There's a link to "How to Roffle", I'll try and find it, but I'm sure there will be no shortage of help if required.

Again, thoughts with you and yours.

Thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time, I didn’t know Giles personally but hearing of an autoshite member leaving this world is like loosing a family member in a way.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Many thanks for joining us here to let us know that Giles has passed. As spartacus here, he was supportive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic in equal measures to those who needed help, sought advice or just wanted to share the news of their motoring life. We will miss him.

So sad to hear this. He came across as a genuinely nice person. Autoshite will be poorer without him.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know and condolences to you and Giles family and friends.

So sorry to hear this.  I met Giles once when he bought the Berlingo van from me last autumn, and I couldn't have wished for a more straightforward sale to an obviously decent chap.

My condolences to you and his family.

Very sad news. Condolences to you and the rest of Giles family.

He was still posting words of encouragement to others on here even at a time where he must have been very ill. I think that says a lot.
