The grumpy thread

Been to Malham cove with the Mrs today. Pretty impressive, but all the walk there she's insisting I'm an idiot, there's a road goes right near it and you can pretty much park next to it. No road on google maps sweetie, perhaps you're mistaken? No, she's been there before, I'm just stupid.

We get to within 50 foot of it, and big surprise, there's still no road. She's still not accepting there isn't a road. Sure, perhaps they just removed the road for fun since you last came? No it's round the other side, you're just at the wrong side. There is no other side, it's a huge cliff face.

This goes on for a while until I can't take it any more and admit there's a invisible road.

Some MOFO put an unwanted stripe down the nearside of the Mercedes some time this afternoon.  I am hopeful most of it will polish out...

I know it's wrong, but I kinda want her face to make contact with this road.

It is wrong to have such thoughts, but I have to agree. Off to confession again then😞

Mad Jean's cat has escaped and it's tipped her into being full blown bonkers marbles lost.

Mega paranoia that we're in league with the devil son (the one the mrs last saw 10 years ago). N she's decided to private message Pastor with wild accusations and pray for me, except she stuck in on her facebook wall so the entire world can read it.

I thought the point of a public enquiry was to find out what happened but seeing as all these Post Office bosses have conveniently forgotten* everything that that happened then the whole thing seems pointless.

they don't forget,   they do not "recall"    they've all been fed that as the line to spout, i've heard it used more in the enquiry than i have in the rest of my 66 years on this planet

The slippery corporate fuckers need to 'recall' how well* that approach worked at the Watergate inquiries.

You remember that during the air conditioning saga I suspected that your chav neighbours were growing drugs?

I reckon it's your family buying them.

Fuxache.

I mean, I don't actually need this wiper motor but I noticed the Maestro wipers were a bit lazy the other day, so I idly browsed for parts.

Hit upon this old giffer site which is just a list of part numbers, no links, no details.

Dropped them a line and... Price gouge alert.

Looks like I'll be taking mine to bits, then.

Do ya ever feel like there's just too much on your plate? That's me today. Got an almost endless list of jobs that need doing but whatever I try and attempt seems to go wrong.

Also feels like every job I want to do needs a different job doing before I can start, so none are actually getting done.

Mrs is irritable this week and I'm copping the fallout so that's not helping.

I've given up and gone to drink beer in the sun.

Thought I would tackle the big old faithful Wolf generator that I bought in 2011. Not started it up since 2018 or 2019.  It’s been outside for nearly a year, mostly covered up.

Envisaged new plug, blah, blah.  It was empty of fuel, so some E5 was lobbed in, fuel tap on… two pulls of the tired starter rope and off she chugged. Happily running! Treated her to a new starter pull rope as a result.

Nudists tend to be the sort of people you don’t want to see naked.

Karcher pressure washer came out today to give the patio the first clean in several months.

Am I being thick, or are Karchers a real pain in the arse to use?  I've never really got to grips with the one I've had for several years now, possibly because I only tend to use it twice a year, but the attachments seem to require a ridiculous amount of force to attach and water always seems to piss out from the join.

The water pressure coming out of the end always seems to be either inadequate or more suitable for blasting a hole in the patio than cleaning it, nothing in-between.  And it gets through a whole (quite expensive) bottle of cleaning fluid in about ten minutes!

I have had 2 Karchers in the last 10 years and have been happy with both. The only downside with the first one was that it had a stiff hose and it was a pain to use because of it.

I've struggled with getting the attachments on and off at times, there's an o-ring in them and if it's not seated right it'll fight you all the way. Other trick is to turn the machine off then pull the trigger to relive the pressure in the lance. That will be make life a lot easier swapping bits over.

They are probably designed to be a bit feeble so you don’t do too much damage with it.

I've got one of these to try too! Mine was from Ali express and a tenner delivered so I'm not holding it much hope of it being reliable, but it came with the fittings and adapter for my nilfisk so if I works long enough for me to like it I'll order a better gun part.

Hoping to be car washing tomorrow morning too! Got some nice new shampoo delivered yesterday

Maybe, I once went straight through a wing on a Rover 827 with a jet washer. Not sure if that’s just reflective of the haphazard Rover build quality though.

Little blue the C1 is sick. Drove all over all week no problems, pulled into petrol station. Filled up n hmmm doesn't want to go into gear. N doesnt want to change to second when i get it going. Reverse is a super grinderthon. N theres a rattle noise.

Or tldr i think the clutch is in the process of breaking up. On bright side made it to mechanics who's not taking on big jobs at minute but will look at it when he can find time.

maybe you do not need a pressure washer at all.

Don't these have a good old adjustable clutch cable on them? You might get lucky.

Might be worth seeing if this is still current.

Edit:- Seems to be. Maybe that's where the robbers above buy them. Military surplus dealers probably have Maestro/Montego stashed, as the forces were big users of the cars

A thousand shite points to YOU, @artdjones.

Just as I was contemplating a holiday in Lisbon (I've been before, it's ace) along you come with the bargain of the century. Outstanding work.

Obviously I've already bought it.
