Have i really been out the loop that badly for that long with tax?

Like... when the actual fuck did a 1997 1.6 petrol car cost the same to tax as some 3.2 litre Merc Turbo Diesels from peak 'bend over and take it' tax rates between 2006-2016?

They were like £180 to tax last time i checked.... £345 now????

we used to have a 1.6 , can say it would have gone with that tax rate , its all gone silly now .

I have a "get your tax free ticket " off the DLA for a family member  , but I dont use it because of the stipulations over the use of MY car , they would make you a criminal just for using for your own car by yourself ..   so for 20 notes a year I cant be bothered ..   tax system is great .. not

Gutted doesn't even cover it.

Any suggestions of what I can use to glue them back together with so I can get another twenty years out of them ?

Expand

There was a type of glue over here, called "prenadez", which was used specifically for mending shoes. I think it's a generalcobtact adhesive, something with "chlorine"-something (in Romanian it's "cloropenic", have no idea what's in English) and caoutchouc as in the natural rubber. Clean, apply, press for 12 hours and you're set for another 20 years.

There is still a law, here in Spain, that you have to carry a set of spare bulbs in the car. I have never been checked by the law to see if I actually have a set, but I do. However, I cannot change some beside the road without tools and there are too may different types for the box.

Expand

Over here it's the same. And I wonder how would it apply to the led matrix brigade. They need to carry spare headlights?

I saw on Quora an advert for 'Oily Glue' or Tree Frog Glue'.

It was a video clip that couldn't be copied or downloaded but showed it being used to repair all sorts of things including cycle innertubes.

eBay ad

Not the one I bought but the same stuff.  Prices vary widely and the one I bought had a very misleading ad.  I thought that I was buying 5 30 ml bottles but one 50 ml bottle turned up, which I haven't used yet so can't vouch for it.

Off topic but anyway...  Ive had to stop watching the PO enquiry as its winding me up too much, but one thing leaves me puzzled.

Why are there no youtube videos of a certain ex PO boss preaching?

It would be interesting to see her talk about how we should behave.

Expand

I thought the point of a public enquiry was to find out what happened but seeing as all these Post Office bosses have conveniently forgotten* everything that that happened then the whole thing seems pointless.

Maybe Photonicinduction's Big Boy Power Supply hooked up to their nether regions might make them remember...

(Did anyone find out why he disappeared, reappeared, then disappeared suddenly again from YouTube?)

I disagree as one of the key things these sort of people are concerned about is their image. They're being publically humiliated, day in, day out, and proved to be liars. Their future career hopes lie in tatters in my opinion.

To me it's pretty clear what happened, I don't need them to confirm it.

You're right, it is very satisfying watching them squirm but it's still not technically the point of a public enquiry.

But as I see it it's pretty irrefutable what happened so it's achieved the objective of a public enquiry albeit by a somewhat circuitous route.

Been to Malham cove with the Mrs today. Pretty impressive, but all the walk there she's insisting I'm an idiot, there's a road goes right near it and you can pretty much park next to it. No road on google maps sweetie, perhaps you're mistaken? No, she's been there before, I'm just stupid.

We get to within 50 foot of it, and big surprise, there's still no road. She's still not accepting there isn't a road. Sure, perhaps they just removed the road for fun since you last came? No it's round the other side, you're just at the wrong side. There is no other side, it's a huge cliff face.

This goes on for a while until I can't take it any more and admit there's a invisible road.

Some MOFO put an unwanted stripe down the nearside of the Mercedes some time this afternoon.  I am hopeful most of it will polish out...

Mad Jean's cat has escaped and it's tipped her into being full blown bonkers marbles lost.

Mega paranoia that we're in league with the devil son (the one the mrs last saw 10 years ago). N she's decided to private message Pastor with wild accusations and pray for me, except she stuck in on her facebook wall so the entire world can read it.

The slippery corporate fuckers need to 'recall' how well* that approach worked at the Watergate inquiries.

You remember that during the air conditioning saga I suspected that your chav neighbours were growing drugs?

I reckon it's your family buying them.

Fuxache.

I mean, I don't actually need this wiper motor but I noticed the Maestro wipers were a bit lazy the other day, so I idly browsed for parts.

Hit upon this old giffer site which is just a list of part numbers, no links, no details.

Dropped them a line and... Price gouge alert.

Looks like I'll be taking mine to bits, then.

Do ya ever feel like there's just too much on your plate? That's me today. Got an almost endless list of jobs that need doing but whatever I try and attempt seems to go wrong.

Also feels like every job I want to do needs a different job doing before I can start, so none are actually getting done.

Mrs is irritable this week and I'm copping the fallout so that's not helping.

I've given up and gone to drink beer in the sun.

Thought I would tackle the big old faithful Wolf generator that I bought in 2011. Not started it up since 2018 or 2019.  It’s been outside for nearly a year, mostly covered up.

Envisaged new plug, blah, blah.  It was empty of fuel, so some E5 was lobbed in, fuel tap on… two pulls of the tired starter rope and off she chugged. Happily running! Treated her to a new starter pull rope as a result.

Nudists tend to be the sort of people you don’t want to see naked.

Karcher pressure washer came out today to give the patio the first clean in several months.

Am I being thick, or are Karchers a real pain in the arse to use?  I've never really got to grips with the one I've had for several years now, possibly because I only tend to use it twice a year, but the attachments seem to require a ridiculous amount of force to attach and water always seems to piss out from the join.

The water pressure coming out of the end always seems to be either inadequate or more suitable for blasting a hole in the patio than cleaning it, nothing in-between.  And it gets through a whole (quite expensive) bottle of cleaning fluid in about ten minutes!

I have had 2 Karchers in the last 10 years and have been happy with both. The only downside with the first one was that it had a stiff hose and it was a pain to use because of it.

I've struggled with getting the attachments on and off at times, there's an o-ring in them and if it's not seated right it'll fight you all the way. Other trick is to turn the machine off then pull the trigger to relive the pressure in the lance. That will be make life a lot easier swapping bits over.
