Profit's made when you buy, anyone can sell...If he can clear £1200 on a £1500 car he has a talent.

Now I'm reminded of a quote of Napoleon's; he was right too :D

That's a fair enough point, but since blokey needed to beg advice from marque enthusiasts in order to establish that it was a rare car and a very good price, it's mebbe a bit dim of him to then try and sell it straight back to the same people who gave him the advice!

I've no real bother with folk turning a profit; in this case he's landed a tidy car at a good price and has no moral obligation to then sell it on below market value just because the previous owner did so. No quibble there.

But he definitely needs to work on his marketing strategy!

The only quote I can remember from Napoleon is "Sod this for a game of soldiers"

I’ve got a feeling though he’s going to be waiting a long time until he sees £1500 for it if it makes you feel any better.

Could well have been £300 for a reason... someone buying it for £1500 might quickly find that out and it not be such a quick buck after all.

Gearbox place have titsed the SVX big time.

Remember the HORRIFIC NOISES I was talking about?

Well, it turns out gearboxes like it better when they're attached to the fucking car by mounts, rather than flailing around under load.

It's not often I'm beyond words, but......

Anyone know any good pro bono solicitors? Manners fail me at this point.

You may struggle to get pro bonio for this sort of thing but moneyclaim online is supposed to be user friendly. Happy to help if you need.

ETA might be worth going for a direct access barrister if you have any cash to chuck at it

Best Subaru gearbox action is to calmly let them know they need to sort it or you will go straight to small claims court; research the exact process so you are knowledgeable during the discussion.

God we’ll end up going down the road of the £4000 Peugeot 405 again!

Ah, someone else with an auto gearbox problem....

Latest news on the CX is that it's having to be sent to a Citroen workshop in - get this - Heathrow in order to have the engine and gearbox dropped out. Then the gearbox only will make its way back to Staples Corner to be rebuilt, before going all the way back to Heathrow to be reattached to the engine and put back in the car.

This is going to be a little more costly than I thought. Fortunately I have money saved....

Get a marriage councellor. Or make her an offer she cannot refuse (as in coming in with your head down and having her beat you daily) and then gradually explain in the coming weeks... if the atmosphere isn't too hostile.

This all day.

As I say, I think £1500 is a more realistic price - 25 GTis are well sought after and there's not many left on the road.

What boiled my piss was the bloke trying to sell it back at six times the price he paid to the same community (myself included) who encouraged him to buy it  in the first place, thinking he was a genuine Rover-licker. And him thinking that this was in any way 'okay'.

Sure, if he'd invested some money in getting the belts done and given the car a full valet, that's different and proper Wheeler Dealers. But to expect to flog it with that sort of profit and doing fuck all to the car to improve its worth is never gonna end well.

Good luck to the lad if he turns a profit, but sadly for him the MGR community is small and word has already spread like wildfire about his antics. He'll be lucky to clear a grand now. I might ironically buy it off him at £301 when he's down on his luck and still saddled with it after it shits its head gasket and chews its belt to ribbons.

New Pod, if it's all gone to shit at the moment and you want a quiet life get on to interflora and send flowers, (unless she hates flowers). Arrange for her and a female friend to have a day at one of those spa places, essentially try to get her in a better mood. You may be right, but that often isn't enough and the moral high ground can be a cold and lonely place.

The other alternatives are to ignore it and hope it will go away, or behave in the same way as her until one of you cracks and walks. If you want to sort it out and she won't make the first move it is up to you.

I don't know the details but from reading your posts it seems that you are being reasonable and she is not.

The way forward is up to you.

We are behind you whichever way it goes.

Been there, done that. No regrets.

Mrs New POD seems to have some serious issues - not just my reading, you have mentioned it previously.

You guys will not be able to get through this without help.  You probably need some couples counselling, but she definitely needs some support.

Can you get her to her GP without a blow up?

mr POD, my question was aimed primarily at the honorable lord sterling but thank you for going to the trouble to put it into words

your other half has certainly got an A level in being right and getting her own way!

my ex had a thing going on where she played the victim with plenty of tears- OK she had been abused by her father but you cant blame that for everything that doesnt go your way, we went for counselling and the feller talking to me told me to challenge this behavior with a "why are you crying?" which was quite effective!

i sincerely hope you find a way forward- its hard being in the wrong 24/7

Really minor grump in the grand scheme of things...

I've been trying to get a document written out now since the very end of 2015, and must have started the blasted thing a dozen times now. Having been to the fourth iteration of the event at the core of this a couple of weeks ago it's again at the forefront of my mind.

Finally got an opportunity to sit down this afternoon to attack it.

In quick succession we had...

[] A cold caller at the door trying to sell me repair work to our roof which they obviously weren't even close to being capable of delivering.

[] Phone call from "the Legal Department at AA Auto Assist regarding my recent automobile accident" - that's three this week so far.

[] Next door's cats having a spat right outside the back door, right in full view of our dog who had been snoozing, unsurprisingly he took great interest in this and basically exploded with excitement as huskies are known to do.

[] Amazon delivery literally as I pulled the seat out to sit down from sorting that out.

[] Then Yodel delivery for a house number that doesn't exist for a name I've never heard of.

[] Wrong number phone call to the land line, which made me jump as it rings so rarely.

[] Knocked coffee over as I sat back down at the table.

...Then got a text asking me to go and pick Abby up from the station because she was running early.

Gave up at that point.

How can it be so difficult to sit down and get a few pages of text typed out?

Maybe tomorrow? Just felt like one of those afternoons where things were just stacked against me!

Horrible to watch :-(

Agreed , the old guy and the child stood in the doorway saying leave him alone makes it worse , that looks like a place the army need to be sent in if they can run around in gangs like that unchallenged.

I don't get stealing phones , it'll be blocked by now so worthless
