The grumpy thread

I've been with giffgaff for a while, on a rolling monthly thing set up automatically. They seem perfectly competent. *awaits bank account getting emptied in one fell swoop*

While it does seem to be the exception rather than the norm, I have never had a problem with BT.

Anyone remember the story of that disabled pensioner who got beaten up, and a stranger set up a fund that raised £330k? That was a really heartwarming story that shows you there some good people in the world.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/alan-barnes-defends-himself-after-8846811

Except said stranger now has a £7k bill for the PR company, and he's said he'd donate a tenner towards it. Then we wonder why no one stops and helps any more

Tricky one. Roping in a PR company at that sort of rate was a rather naive move. Presumably she did actually know how much it'd cost ahead of signing on the dotted line. The elderly chap didn't tell her to sign up to anything like that did he? And people donated so the money would go to him. Would they have donated if they knew several grand was going to a PR company?

Strikes me it's now turning into one of those bloody stories that causes mass OUTRAGE and mob mentality to sort it out. I'm mighty sick of that kind of thing.

Today has been a comedy of errors...

The boy is poorly, projectile vomiting if his temperature goes above 38.265 degrees, which then cools him down enough to be happy and fine, for 25 minutes until it happens again. Had the paramedic out last night to check he was ok. Bed @ 1.30am.

Sounds like HGF, give him some K-Seal for breakfast.

I agree that she was at best naive, but being £6,000+ out of pocket when trying to help someone is very harsh.

Not slept again. Not one minute of kip did I get last night. strangely, I don't feel too bad yet but I bet I will later. Oh and Paul has just rung me to say that my newly repaired fog light switch just ended up in his hoover!

I suppose I should be happy he's hoovering the car... he's a braver man than me as I NEVER clean the back of it due to dogs. I think there are new and interesting life forms dwelling underneath the quilt on the back seat :)

A gentleman will always have someone else to vacuum his motor car:-)

Here's a crazy idea. Instead of blocking the Forth Bridge with a four vehicle collision try looking where you are going.

That's an hour to move a mile and the crash is four miles away yet.

I was caught in that shit too. I hate people

Richard The Long version @Vodafone.

Wouldn't release PAC codes of my two daughters monthly contracts. Turns out months back when I'd added an extra 1gb of data to their phones some creep at Voadfone gave them new upgraded contracts instead. I got a little excited like yourself. Started calmly but within 24 hours had cancelled 4 contract phones and cancelled the DD. Requested a full buyout bill. Went to EE got 4 new contracts.

Because I had cancelled the DD they cancelled my online paperless account. Which meant I had no idea about the bill. However Vodabellend couldn't give the bill verbally because of data protection...This went on for months, getting no where ultimately on every call I prefixed any taking with HOW MUCH MONEY DO I OWE YOU SEND ME A BILL. Debt collectors were calling my kids phones (Their EE phones!!!)I sung the Hokey Cokey to one donut at Vodafone (I hope that's used for training purposes) during one call. I tried polite, I tried angry, I tried everything.

So shamefully I changed tact. When I got a call all I said was "I am recording this call due to racial abuse, send me an itemised bill". This shamfull act got me an audience ultimately with someone owning a brain. Get the right operative you can get a cancelled bill, an emailed cancelled bill, an apology and a bank credit within 10 minutes. A horrible thing too for a customer who WANTED to pay.

I had this account for many years (the last 2 years with 4 contracts), overall my bill over the years with Vodafone would have bought me a new Dacia. Sadly they just didn't get a shit.

BONUS GRUMPS:

Wife had a surprise Gall bladder removal a week back. The main surprise was cancelling the trip to Singapore for her birthday. We're watching the GP on channel 4 now.

I've burned though a set on continentals in 12k (still grip well but bald nearly) and incredibly I've replaced them with more continentals.

Sister in law had a heart attack at home, then another in A&E whilst my youngest was waiting for her. She's 38 and fit (but genetically flawed, no one in her family collects a pension). She's ok for now.

" That baby monitor is fucked, why are the batteries not charged? It's been on charge all day"

Actually love, it's been on charge for 3 weeks as we never really use it, but you insist on leaving it docked. So now the batteries are probably fucked...

Both kids have the puke bug, and I have an ominous feeling in my stomach now... Not had fried egg smelling burps yet though which ALWAYS come 1-2 hours before I am sick, every burp makes me feel better, it best stay that way...

I woke up in a massive bad mood this morning (yes, actually slept last night), no idea why, just was. I sort of survived the morning by ignoring as many people as humanly possible and not answering the phone. Then I had to go out in the car...

  • The final straw was a Nissan Juke (I think) coming down the road towards me on MY SIDE OF THE FUCKING ROAD!!!!!!!! Normally  I would stop, shake my head in despair and then carry on my day without giving it another thought. But today, I pulled over to the centre of the road and stayed there. I had a real proper rant at the stupid fucker driving and made them reverse back up the road and get into a correct road position, then advised them to get a few lessons and carried on with my day... feeling, it must be said, rather better moodwise than before!

Also, what the fuck have I just done to my keyboard? It suddenly started typing 'posh' halfway through this post!

You've managed to hold down the ctrl key instead of (or as well as) shift when you typed the letter 'I' which has turned on the italics.

I salute your justified action and rant!

I know just how you feel (I think) as this is an almost daily event here in that there North London.

Is there actually a point to this page if people keep starting rants about finance, Wheeler Dealers, new cars or whatever on new threads?

^^^ This, it gets on my fucking tits. This was the the purpose of the grin + grumpy threads so the board doesn't get clogged up with shit.

Just got a new neighbour across the road. Not met them yet but parking is tight and they've got 4 cars. Should be interesting! ( I've got 3 so I can't really complain-have I just talked myself out of a grump?).

Posted

Oh the joys of modern parking. My parents certainly aren't too pleased that the people next door have 4 cars, including 2 vans, and don't use their garage or driveway

Posted

My neighbours moaned to the extent one of them grassed me up probably 12=15 years ago now for an untaxed car, so I got 15 all legit then parked them out there. In more recent times it's been quite funny, as there were sort of half-arsed, not-quite-directed-at-me-but-meant-for-me comments about the number I have, so I moved them somewhere else (completely out of the way) and there's mumblings again.

I agree. I was about to post a thread that I'm popping down to the Co-Op, but I'll put that in here now.

Anybody want anything?

There's a bloke across the road who thinks the space outside his house is his . If some one has the temerity to park there you can see him bobbing in and out of his door and when the offender moves he'll move his car 6 feet back.We just find it amusing! He'll also park in a knob jockey way and try to take up two spaces so his missus has somewhere to park and will adjust when she comes back. I just park wherever there's a space as I'm fit enough to walk an extra 50 feet if I can park exactly outside the house!
