Apparently the christmas cards I bought are slightly too big to go in any of the pockets of my army jacket.

If they did it would mean I could walk with them to the postbox in the village without having to carry a bag just to carry a bunch of paper and card.

We should probably let the army know - they'll be appalled as the main consideration in the design of their clothing is that it should be able to transport Christmas cards without hassle

It's either the American army's fault for designing it wrong or the Austrian army's fault for manufacturing the pockets too small.

It is actually incredible how much you can carry in it though. When I still did film photography I could carry two camera bodies, three lenses, and a bunch of film, all without a camera bag.

Driving the Mrs car today, spot something fairly big laying in the road, couldn't see what it was.

Couldn't go around it so aimed for the middle and hoped for the best.

BANG! FUCK!!!

Pulled into an entrance at the side of the road accompanied by some awful scraping noise.

Reverse a bit and it is quiet, go forwards and its horrible scraping again. Whatever it is must be stuck underneath.

Stuck a wheel up o the kerb to see if I can get it out. Look underneath the car and there is a massive chunk of  metal on the ground and oil pissing out of a split in the sump.

Fucksticks.

I also managed to mangle the bottom of the dipstick tube.

You managed NOT to mangle the bottom of the crankshaft at least!

Smoller cards are usually cheeper, a thought for next year.

I deliberately bought slightly expensive "premium" cards, so it wouldn't make much difference to price anyway. By next year I'll be driving again, so the cards can be any size they like and go on the passenger seat while I post them while I'm out doing something else anyway!

New grump is that one of the camcorder batteries I got in a twin pack with a charger is duff. Don't want to return the whole lot since that seems like a waste. I've left a 1 star review, now to see if I can remember how to get in touch with an actual human at amazon.

I had two very bad nights on Monday and Tuesday.  Usually when I'm short on sleep I do stupid stuff, so I was quite pleased with myself when I managed to get to bedtime yesterday without any major mishaps or things I'd forgotten to do.

So imagine my amusement* when I left the house this morning to find that I'd left the driver's door of the Merc open all night.  It was drizzling most of the night here so the interior is now slightly* moist.

Excellent.

On the plus side, the area ia safe enough to leave a door open all night without anything getting vandalized/nicked!

Aye, it's pretty quiet around here.  Living in the arse end of Norfolk has its advantages!

I ran the Merc for an hour when I got home from work with the heater and the heated seat on flat out, now I've got a blower heater sitting in the footwell drying out the carpet.  Fortunately as it was drizzle rather than heavy rain it doesn't seem to have soaked in too deeply...

Went to change oil on the 159. Can’t put the socket on, subframe leg is in the way. Oh, okay, plug is a bit worn, but I’ll slip a wrench on and turn. Well this wrench is a bit shit and plug is very stuck, but surely it’ll be fi…slip. Bollocks.
Thankfully there was a vacuum sucker so I managed to get the oil out and put the new one in, but now I need a new sump plug and will have to find a way to remove the fucker next time I’m doing an oil change. :(

Wuvvums reputation in Norfolk would ensure that wouldn't happen, he's like the Don Corleone of the Broads.

My 'grump'

Some clever f*cker has  cloaned my card, and enjoyed a wee spending spree. Bastards.

Bank appears to be dealing with returning the funds rather slowly. GR8. 🙈

Went to visit my sister in Gloucestershire today and it turned into a 168 mile round trip. Shouldn’t have been but M4 east bound was closed from Swindon to Hungerford for pretty much all day, making my return trip somewhat longer.

The real grump though, is that I went to swap out her integrated Smeg dishwasher with a new Beko one. She’s had the Smeg repaired twice recently and was now being quoted £270 for a new board. Anyway, got to work to find the decor panel had been bonded to the inner door. I could see the original fixings after some dismantling of the inner door but could not get the outer door off without fucking it. It should lift up and off, by the look of the fittings but looks like it has been a problem in the past, so previous house owner resorted to multiple adhesive pads to stick it on and these weren’t budging. She decided, in the end, to return the new integrated machine for a free standing one and I’ll return when that’s done to install it.

Nice to see her, of course but what a fucking waste of a day. Left at 9am and was home at 4.20pm.

well

rather foolishly on the 17th november i purchased something from someone on facebook who seemed reputable

an being as it was an intruder alarm panel i thought the risk of being scammed was low

he asked me to pay via paypal family and friends, sure why not

this was my mistake

still haven't recieved anything and he isn't responding to messages

so that's me out of £60

Why would you? It's like 2% for the security of paying normally and being able to whinge at PP if it's rubbish or the vendor turns out to be a prick.

The washing machine started being incontinent,  so much so that it fused the electrics.

On a strip down, it looked like the heating element seal had failed, so a 2 day waited for new element and thermostat and yep it still leaks.

Strip it down again and remove the concrete ring to find the plastic outer drum housing has cracked.  Bastard.

That's the machine scrap then, just in time for Christmas.

I reckon mine was cloned whilst paying for a phone repair in a dodgy back street near spaghetti junction. Can't prove it. But got my money back.

Look on the bright side!  This means new Escort shells are available to recreate the iconic* 1100DL... 😉

Don't know about mk1's, but the Chinese made a batch of MK2 shells at the request of the Irish rally boys ( I think) and apparently they are rather good!

Either buy off here or privately if you have to, I didn’t think a dealer supplied £1400 car existed any longer.

there’s an XC90, a Corsa, a Blingo, an X Type, a Polo, a Panda, an SX4 etc, I’d take a chance on any of them rather than a 1500 bombsite banger.
