I really don't see how companies like Deliveroo and Just Eat can be allowed to operate in the UK. Other than the obvious fact the UK is a complete shitshow  captured in a race to the bottom  nowadays...
They rely on 'non-employees' using what 90% of the time are in some way illegal transport, whether private cars uninsured for business use or these fucking E-bike things that look like they weigh as much as a small moped and usually get ridden by stoned arseholes either on the pavement or weaving in and out of traffic. I thought these things were just plain illegal to ride anywhere other than your own private property?

They are but again no one gives a shit until someone is knocked of by an evil planet murdering cash cow motorist.

Nothing good to say about them at all apart from it’s finally gone, thank fuck!

I thought it would be a good idea to get one just before I turned 19 just as the trend of everyone and their mum seemingly having one was taking flight, what a twat I am for doing it. Waste of a good 2 ish years when I could've been in something far more spoony. Boring, lifeless, mass produced mainstream hateful shitbox. And it's a Renault in a Mercedes dress too. FUCK I HATE THEM SO MUCH AHHHHH. I narrowly despise the 1 series more.

😆that pretty much sums them up, absolute boxes of shit with no driver enjoyment whatsoever. Sorry you made the mistake of finding that out for yourself!

Not all bad though, chopped it in for my Twingo Gordini and that was a superb little thing.

Whereas Spain saw Deliveroo as abusing the rights of its its delivery riders and drivers.

Who of course are employees, not subcontractors. With no British interference.

The Spanish government also gets tax from the employees whereas I suspect your average U.K. Deliveroo driver pays sod all.

Dad's Yaris failed the MOT and is now uneconomical to fix so he is looking for another cheap small car and is short of choices. So I was stupid enough to show him an ad for an old Yaris for sale 3.5 hours away and the result is that I have to have a 7 hour drive on Monday for a damn Yaris. And I don't have a good feeling for the car or the seller either.

So all hope lies in it being  stolen or it catches on fire or a piano lands on it before monday.

An ex work colleague was over the moon with his new one on PCP until I pointed out the motor was finest renault - he suddenly looked as if somebody had shit in his slippers.

Oh shit, what's happened??

Just had my garage broken into. Luckily there was almost nothing there as I have only just moved and my stuff was still stored elsewhere!

All the other garages in the row appear to be untouched so I'm hoping they just noticed the house had someone new so they decided to break in to see if anything was there

I thought that only happened to Marinas.

No it happens to pianos as well.

Carefully back the bike into the garage after spending some time rubbing bits of the frame down and spraying them black. Pus side stand down gently.  Gently onto a can of VHT silver spray paint, which promptly ruptured and sprayed various nice black bits silver and also covered my new works jeans and old trainers 🙄 😂

Rain's off - let's start on the MoT advisories (front flexible pipes + roll bar bushes)
N/S - wheel off 👍  11mm flare spanner is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
Rain's on - run in, order decent flare spanner
Rain's off - fit N/S bush 👍, remove O/S wheel go to disconnect ABS wire - dust shield turns to, well, dust
Rain's on - fuckit, indoors, order dust shields and look forward to pulling the bloody hubs off and likely flaring a pipe or two.
2 hour job stretching to infinity.
Remind me why we like AutoShite somebody?

The Spanish government gave Deliveroo an ultimatum in 2021

They did because of a new (at the time) law. However other food couriers still work in Spain (Glovo, and Uber Eats .....maybe others). Some say with lights too.😉

ley de 'riders' said that  the workers who are  delivering will be salaried and not self-employed . It guarantee the labour rights. It also says something about making the algorithms more transparent.

Oh shit, what a lovely* welcome to your new abode. Might be worth asking neighbours if it's happened before, to maybe get some reassurance before putting your valuables in it.

Not paying attention, hit a pavement extrusion and put a hole in the sidewall of a two month old Hankook tyre, grrrr 🤬

They're all shocked and say they've never heard of it happening there!

Saw this in Sainsbury's on Thursday night, while it was still technically August.

I work in distribution for another chain and we’ve been dealing with some Christmas lines since early July. It doesn’t do much for your festive spirit.

I like it when the Back to School stuff is on the shelves before they break up in July - used to make our kids grumpy.

We also usually have our first delivery of Easter eggs a week or two before Christmas.

Bah humbug indeed.

It’s gradually been getting earlier. In the 80s I worked in a supermarket during my Uni summer holiday. Christmas stuff came in just before I went back to Uni at the end of September. Now it’s into August.
Why? Not even fanatical Xmassers ( I don’t think that’s a word), aren’t going to use any of it until at least mid November, so why would you buy it in August just to store it for 3 months?

Not sure that shops are doing themselves any favours anyway. Home Bargains had cleared all their gardening stuff away weeks ago in favour of Halloween tat.( rapidly followed by Xmas). I’m sure they must have lost as many sales on gardening as they made with people desperate for a polystyrene pumpkin.

Slipped down the top few steps earlier. Managed to hurt my shoulder again.

Trying to lay in bed watching the TV and it's like being stabbed in the back.

Yesterday had to go round to my in-laws sharpish as a waterpipe had burst in their airing cupboard, won’t go into details but I replaced just under a foot of 15mm copper soldered in job done water back on all ok

Tonight they call upset ranting “it’s leaking worse than before” I go round there sharpish they act like they’ve got their arse in their hand, all I can find is some slight condensation on the pipe ( cold pipe hot cupboard go figure) reasure them it’s all good, I get home and apparently they phoned my missus saying their getting a proper plumber out tomorrow to check my work and make sure it’s safe 🙄

Obviously that’s the last time you will go and assist.
