Now the clocks have changed and the evenings are drawing in, I’m started to get really hacked off with motion sensor light switches.

Despite the sensor being reasonably close to me, it can’t “see” me typing, answering the phone or writing on my desk, so every 12 minutes I have to get up and dance for my light giving master.

YouTube does not need my gibbering.

Compared to most of the gibbering morons on youtube you could be an improvement.

Note to self, never delete photos off an SD card ever again! That PC failure probably deleted about 1000 unrecoverable images. DAMMIT.

Thankfully, apart from the photos from the car museum in Turin (boooo), none of my precious foreign spots were deleted.

Elf on the Shelf and Black Friday.

Do what you like but please don't call it a tradition if it isn't.

I was talking about how long it will be until we start to celebrate Thanksgiving, my guess was within 10 years.....

No, that would involve people giving thanks and showing some gratitude for the things that are their rights and entitlements.

That said I once went to a Thanksgiving thrown by a USAF serviceman from the local base.

It was obscene! Piles and piles of the richest food you could imagine, desserts that were almost 100% sugar, sticky honey glazed meats, exotic drinks...

All in a modest 2 bed house packed to the rafters with people loosening their belts and saying "urgh, no more".

I don't think I ate again for a week. Made our Xmas blow outs look like a snack.

We give thanks to the Romans, who we took this land from, who, uh, took it from us before that.

Yeah. No.

Haven't seen the wife since Sunday evening. Normally today stepdaughter goes to work straight after college.

Both have come home with lurgy. This means I'll end up with it no doubt.

Have you reused the card yet? I've got some undelete software for SD cards if you wanted to post the card over? If you've not written anything to the card since deleting the pics they should all be recoverable.

Reminds me of a Cav style joke...

The wife was getting ready to go out on Saturday night and she asked me how she looked.

I said she looked a bit fat.

I didn't see her on Sunday

I didn't see her on Monday.

By Tuesday the swelling had gone down enough to open my right eye a bit.

Thankfully the wife is not a fire breathing dragon, even at that special time once a month

I might have missed some parts of this but my computer shat itself a few months back and I took it to a local computer guy who had put a flyer through my door. He worked from home down the road and he recovered all my photos for me. Proper hero. I've seen no evidence of him taking money from my bank account with stolen details either.

He also had a few broken/dismantled Land Rovers in the garage/garden/living room and took a fair bit of interest in the Jag, so gets my thumbs up.

Have a blurry picture of me with Mani from the Stone Roses circa 2003 that the recovered for me.

Went to Specsavers in Consett today as I have ruined all my glasses.  16 mile trip.

Lasted 2 minutes in specsavers - allergic to perfumes/aftershave etc. and something in there triggered it. No new specs for me then and daughter had to drive as I wasn't fit to.

Went with daughter #3 to Julies Bookstore.

Google maps and her phone just ran us around in circles, it was nowhere  near where they indicated, found it the old fashioned way - ask someone.

The only sell online though so another wasted trip.

It did turn into a bit of a grin though, she suggested "Barter Books" which is part of the old railway station i Alnwick - the farthest north I have ever been.  Excellent place and got a nice Richard Feynman book and she bought a shelf full of replacement for some of her books that have gone missing.

Nice to see Alnwick in daylight.  Last time I went was 02:00 a couple of years ago to see the Aurora Borealis but they had turned it off to save electric :(

Practical classics, I have had the mag for years but Sam Glover’s gloating about ripping off some poor Russian has really pissed me off. Get a good deal yes, but bullshiting someone to get something for next to nothing, no. Shitty trick to me.

Barter books? I've spent a couple of hours there.

Doesn’t sound like him. Perhaps he will be along sometime to explain.

As to MYGlaren which Feynman book? Physics or anecdotes?

I was surprised as well to be honest. But what he was saying was that they had effectively convinced the guy the car wasn’t genuine and was only good for spares. If I get a chance I will stick some quotes up from the articles.

I'm with Terry Pratchett when it comes to libraries and good bookshops they are basically time machines, you step in you spend a short amount of time and possibly some money then step out hours later....

Oh lordy, I had that game in our "new" office at my old job. Got to the point I just took my own desk light in as I got fed up of the minute round trip to the nearest sensor.

Used to scare the hell out of people by ignoring the fact the lights had gone out as I'm quite happy to touch type...that ability seemed to confuse my coworkers.

My ex-manager died this morning. 42. Brain tumour.

Gutted is an understatement. We might not have seen eye to eye when I left the company a year and a half ago but he was a great man who played a pivotal role in building my career, served his country for 22 years and leaves behind two young children who are an absolute credit to him :(.

Funeral is on Friday and I will definitely be there. Properly torn up by the news still if I’m honest.

*sad face* a lighting forum iv been on since 2011 is closing down it seems  :-(

https://www.allthingslighting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=3721

sadly im not all that surprised, there was a couple big falling out between members and as such activity on the forum had taken a bit of a nose dive, but the forum and its gallery contained lots of good lighting history, info and pictures so it will be sad to see it go,

(im going to see if I can get a dump of all the pictures i uploaded at least.)
