Auto glass say not on insurance, auto glass say £512.03. Would you like to proceed sir?

Er, no.

Phoned insurance lot, and approved supplier is auto windscreens for £75 excess. Anyone got experience with them?

Got a headlight cracked by something that flicked up on the motorway. Even more grumpy as the square headlights the van uses are the same as MK2 Escort so omg old skool ford scene tax applies, not only are they proving tricky to track down people also seem to think they are worth a fortune....

I don't think even our hardest core chod botherers get through £15k a year do they?

Wobbler? Bramz? FOAD?

£15k is probably a drop in xtriple's ocean

What kind of van is it?

Bloody pay-as-go ultilites. They lied to me when I moved in so when I topped up this morning most of the topup vanished on the previous person's debt. Ring them up & find out a totally different way to inform them that the reason I have a different name & just bought the house is I'm not the last lot of people...but I don't get the money back till they process that.

Roll on a week or two's time when I get back on a proper energy supply that isn't designed for pikeys.

When my sister and I rented a house in Ascot in 2001 (course road, next to the racecourse, if anyone is nosy and wants to Google), the meter had been changed to prepayment without the owner's permission. The agent played hell and it was changed back the next day. It's a very expensive way to get electricity so get it changed if you can.

Owner doesn’t need to give permission - if a tenant runs up a big bill and stops paying they will break in if necessary and fit these.

Can be difficult to change back too - British Gas for example need you to have perfect credit.

Fuck me - there’s a thread on pistonheads about monthly costs of running cars (quelle surprise)

Someone with a 2014 diesel X6 is shelling out £1250 a month in total between finance and running costs - £1 a mile for their 15k a year

I can hear Xtriple's snorts of derision from here.

Yes they will but not necessarily legally. According the agent ( at that time) they weren't allowed to.

Agent will have been referring to an unenforceable clause in the tenancy agreement saying you shouldn’t cause the meter type to be changed without permission

Electric doesn't seem too bad, but gas is bloody expensive.

I got them swapped as soon as I moved, but there is a 14 day cooling off before they proceed & then another 7 days in which they'll swap suppliers so I'll be getting real electric & gas from sometime next week.

I had typed a reply but then the iPad had a hissy fit. Anyway, I'm trying to justify a purchase of a new car ( to me, and perhaps the parents ) that will hopefully be worth the same next year.

My everyday 1994 merc coupe has cost me this year... £250 full service mot and left tie rod, £55 right tie rod, £60 full wheel alignment, £240ish VED and £520 insurance and eu wide breakdown. Call it £1000 all in plus the petrol. With a bit of luck it's also worth double what I paid for it five years ago. It's by far the cheapest car I've run- even at 26mpg. My cx dtr by comparison was fabulous at 45mpg but needed about £100 a month in reserves to pay for "issues". Rust, fuel pump, rust, ac, rust, radiator, rust, etc.

I sent my licence & three V5cs off all on the same day last week, bets on which one doesn't come back?

I hope you took copies of your licence, especially the bits that show your bike entitlement...

I've still got the licence from the move before that I 'forgot' to send off for that reason.

Ha! Forgot about the dollop. I know what I'd rather spend £15k a year on... /nicerproblemstohave

Middle lane drivers are getting horrendous. I don't know why but it's becoming a much much more common 'thing'.

I'll be honest, I don't bother going out around them anymore. If I can undertake them I just do it. I don't deliberately drive in an aggressive way but I just carry on driving as normal at the same speed and if that means I pass them that way then so be it. Fuck em.

I had an unbelievably close call today. Driving my Sprinter and towing the trailer down a 40mph main road some stupid cow trying to cross a staggered junction in front of me. She looked right at me then pulled out in front of me, then slams on the brakes to make an immediate right turn, leaving her cars arse end blocking the main road.

I had to brake very very heavily, the van is a 3.5 ton + oil tanker trailer full of 800 litres of oil = pretty heavy! I stopped before rear ending the dozy bint but the trailer brakes locked and skidded.

One of those situations where your so shocked that A, it happened B, you didn't hit them that I didn't even think to use the horn or give her some verbal afterwards!

Wtf is wrong with people on the roads!?

Contact your bank & tell them. Tell Paypal.

Change your paypal & ebay passwords along with the questions, as it's often easier for crooks to find out the questions than the password.

Get hold of Paypal and they can cancel the transaction and recover the money. Do the same with your bank.

I know a lot of retards who claim that staying in the middle lane is safer as it's dangerous changing lanes to overtake trucks. I try not to use the phrase brainless fucknugget when explaining that if they find it that dangerous they shouldn't be driving.

Just tell them both what's happened, as if they both give you the money back that would be considered fraud.

I would imagine in this case, Paypal has legitimately taken money from your bank due to a fraudulent PP transaction, so it should be PayPal doing the refundage.

Your bank has to give it straight back due to the direct debt guarantee, they'd then reclaim it off PP.

Definitely the first bit!

I had a similar issue a while ago. It took a hell of a lot of aggro and many many phone calls between my bank and PayPal to sort.

From what I found out/was told, the banks have much more clout than handlers like PayPal. PayPal just move money around.

Your bank can basically order the money back from PayPal and PayPal must comply with that. It's then up to PayPal to sort themselves out with the other party. As long as it's a genuine situation obviously!

My situation went to shit though as my bank and PayPal didn't communicate with each other or me so I somehow ended up being refunded twice!

Once they found out this had happened I ended up in shit with PayPal demanding the second incorrect refund money back. Which I paid obviously, but if they'd have told me what was happening it wouldn't have happened.

Last of the Mk2 transits with the plastic grill and square headlights.

Didn't know they weren't their own (does that make sense) anyway are square mk1 Fiesta ones very different or are they expensive too?

It's not even just the middle lane anymore. On four lane motorways they sit in lane 3, meaning there's two empty lanes, and behind the bunglecunt there's four lanes funneling themselves through lane four to get past.

I know I shouldn't, but in those situations I just go on the inside.

Most of the time it is the wake up call they need to pull in. I guess they are so zoned out that they need to have it made blatantly fucking obvious to them that they are in the way of everyone else.

Posted

I find the four lane motorways often being used as a pair of quite individual dual carriageways, the left making slightly better progress, the righthand one having a tad more of a brakelight glow. I think many of the hoggers hog mostly because they're shit and lazy at the whole driving game, not competent to change lane, that's why they'll merge straight into an overtaking lane on joining, the improved view from the slip road allowing them to just about manage, next lane change is their clumsy exit where they cajole right into your braking distance and urgently hit the anchors. Also some moderns have truely fucking appalling rear vision, porthole rear screen, door mirrors with the critical outer surface tapered off into a point for sake of fashion and those stealth indicators can only add to the challenge. We're just never going to see our motorways anywhere near fit for purpose again. Time to drop the whole idea of motorway lanes, start removing them, maximum of three. Forget the idea of overtaking lanes, they're just lanes now. 60MPH limit everywhere with 12 points and a fuck off for going over by so much as 1MPH, give it a year and if the dicks wont grow the fuck up and follow the most simple basic standards of motoring and allow the roads to work then fuck 'em it's two lanes and 50MPH.

Might just work, who knows? Other than some kind of big economic recession to take a few million off the road, it's only going to continue getting worse as things are, that's a certainty.
