chaseracer Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I'm pretty sure I've tried that already, she always comes back though. In related news, see if you can guess who rang this morning to ask if her daughter can pick the car up and she'll come back later to pay the bill? As suggested elsewhere, the word you are finding it difficult to formulate - because you are very clearly a nice bloke - is NO. You are running a business, not a public service, and you have no obligation at all to any over-entitled tw@t who thinks the world revolves around them. myglaren, oldcars, purplebargeken and 2 others 5

captain_70s Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I sent off all my vehicle's V5Cs and my driving license to get the address updated a while ago, all the VC5s were in one envelope and the license was separate but posted at the same time. Today a letter dropped onto my doormat from the DVLA containing... One V5C, for RLK 126R, the only piece of documentation I really don't need. No doubt all the other stuff will arrive at 11:30pm tomorrow, 3 hours after I've left...
Guest Hooli Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I sent my licence & three V5cs off all on the same day last week, bets on which one doesn't come back?
scaryoldcortina Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Aye, she's had my last nerve this time. No more favours, no freebies, no credit. Soon as she's collected the car and paid up I'm blocking her number. Actually, I might invent an extra charge and then make her promise to pay it later. That should get rid of her. Kiltox Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Fuck me - there’s a thread on pistonheads about monthly costs of running cars (quelle surprise) Someone with a 2014 diesel X6 is shelling out £1250 a month in total between finance and running costs - £1 a mile for their 15k a year Lacquer Peel and Mr_Bo11ox 2
vulgalour Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Pistonheads really is a different world. £15k to keep one ugly, non-descript car going for a year is insane. Still, I'm sure they're very happy with their life choices. danthecapriman, mercrocker, richardmorris and 3 others 6

(Meant in a good way) Assuming I was happy to spend 15k a year I think I would be running a V8 Aussie or Yank on finance and getting someone else to do the maintenance I think this would be a good idea for a thread if I could get my head around how it would be split between payments and fuel.
beko1987 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I don't think even our hardest core chod botherers get through £15k a year do they? Wobbler? Bramz? FOAD?

DodgeRover Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Got a headlight cracked by something that flicked up on the motorway. Even more grumpy as the square headlights the van uses are the same as MK2 Escort so omg old skool ford scene tax applies, not only are they proving tricky to track down people also seem to think they are worth a fortune....

richardmorris Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Bloody pay-as-go ultilites. They lied to me when I moved in so when I topped up this morning most of the topup vanished on the previous person's debt. Ring them up & find out a totally different way to inform them that the reason I have a different name & just bought the house is I'm not the last lot of people...but I don't get the money back till they process that. Roll on a week or two's time when I get back on a proper energy supply that isn't designed for pikeys. When my sister and I rented a house in Ascot in 2001 (course road, next to the racecourse, if anyone is nosy and wants to Google), the meter had been changed to prepayment without the owner's permission. The agent played hell and it was changed back the next day. It's a very expensive way to get electricity so get it changed if you can.

Can be difficult to change back too - British Gas for example need you to have perfect credit.

According the agent ( at that time) they weren't allowed to.

I got them swapped as soon as I moved, but there is a 14 day cooling off before they proceed & then another 7 days in which they'll swap suppliers so I'll be getting real electric & gas from sometime next week. richardmorris and Kiltox 2
richardmorris Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I can hear Xtriple's snorts of derision from here.I had typed a reply but then the iPad had a hissy fit. Anyway, I'm trying to justify a purchase of a new car ( to me, and perhaps the parents ) that will hopefully be worth the same next year. My everyday 1994 merc coupe has cost me this year... £250 full service mot and left tie rod, £55 right tie rod, £60 full wheel alignment, £240ish VED and £520 insurance and eu wide breakdown. Call it £1000 all in plus the petrol. With a bit of luck it's also worth double what I paid for it five years ago. It's by far the cheapest car I've run- even at 26mpg. My cx dtr by comparison was fabulous at 45mpg but needed about £100 a month in reserves to pay for "issues". Rust, fuel pump, rust, ac, rust, radiator, rust, etc.
