Ooooof! This is very sexy. Not red sorry @Wibble. Not Roman bronze either which the seller incorrectly states (unless it has had a bad respray since I last saw it) The colour is Sable brown and I like this car a lot, Wibble, if you view it in black and white or are colour blind then it could be red, maybe.

I am sure this used to have Capri wheels on, it looks much better with the proper ones on it now.

The number plate is very apt as driving or even seeing this would bring me a lot of joy.

Ha, yes thanks, I did see it and also knew it was sable. Unfortunately though, it has to be red. I donโ€™t care what spec it is but it must be red. I do agree about the wheels though๐Ÿ‘

IIRC there is one of these (for doing this work @MOD) called a 'tea pot lid' because of the architecture ๐Ÿค”.

They were specced to have extreme articulation over the 3 axles.... C..A..F !! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was sold for ยฃ280 in August prior to going to the scrap yard - the scrappy wanted ยฃ300 for it - this was parked up in a garden centre back storage area for a while as well as a few other cars, I remember seeing it. There has been a BMW E30 325i parked up there for about 25 years.

Was that Waterworld (or something like that) on the way to Neston from Chester. One of those garden centres down there had an E30 down the back for years, I think it was a white one.

Yes all the old Scammell's had extreme articulation. One of the reasons they were so good.

I think I remember this car being sold on the Maestro/Montego forum for an absolute song. I think it belonged to a technical college and the students did stuff to it back in the day.ย 

IIRC it sold quickly for about ยฃ600, then was immediately flipped for ยฃ3k. I remember thinking then it was a niche market. Perhaps seller has realised it's difficult to shift.ย

yes that's the one, it was also posted on here I think but can't remember the original prices other than it was a large mark upย

Very early 80s I think. Late reg Dolomites have a half arsed attempt hanging under the rear bumper from the factoryย

There was quite a lot of โ€œafter marketโ€ type lights fitted to new cars at that time rather than integrated into the light clusters.

78/9 the last MK4 had them, it was easier ( IE cheaper ) on the cortina & Capri to fit them in the lower dash as both had dashboards introduced in 73/4 that didn't have room for a switch without a redesign (especially the cortina.

used to be a black one parked by my old house, watched it go from good condition to a pile of flakes and glass...Guy was a "I know what I have" type, think it took 11 years to be finally swept up. IIRC the engine survived and was plonked into another sc100
