  1. Just the fact that it's still here is incredible. I'm odd but the photos @Weird Car has posted above and the story is so nice to have
  2. Absolutely love this, and very pleased you both got back safe and sound. I wish I had half the balls/heroism/lunacy you do. If you run out of space....
  3. Saw that too. I was watching this one on ebay that's not long sold. The owner was so rude in their response to me asking basic questions (primarily "what is the nearest train station to you?") I didn't bother. I assume the saloon is a much rarer beast then the hatch? That one had the timing belt changed and looked alright. Ive had a couple of mk1's but love an early K/L car
  4. Genuinely no rush to get down here mate I can see you have your hands full. If @horriblemercedes can help that'd be brilliant and can meet anywhere near j29, M1. Also nice seeing a fellow shitter thats partial to a bit of bungee cord action as i found on the BX....sometimes needs must!
  5. Nice to see this back on the road to recovery I use veygo from Admiral for temp insurance, very easy to do for like £10/12 ish a day. That said work it out on a per annum basis and you'll frighten yourself so I don't like to use it too often. Oh and their £750 excess 😂
  6. For the sake of £20 it's probably worth a try. Cleaning any plastic sensor with brake cleaner is a big no no so probably hasn't helped things.
  7. £400 and half a tank of fuel sounds alright to me. Just to say my old polo had a thing that would only allow it to rev to 3k when stationary (no engine light on tho) so it may be the same on this and also have some small problem like lambda or whatever. The two things may or may not be associated is all I'm saying. GLWTS
  8. You bid exactly the same figure as the guy that brought it and bid in the last minute? You messaged me after retracting saying I wouldn't be making a loss to the £950 I had stated was to break even if you "maxed out your bid". Plans change but let's not pretend you "missed out"
  9. If you hadn't retracted your bid none of this would have happened 😂
  10. Having asked the guy on ebay what happened it certainly looks like it's been scrapped. I actually lost financially on it but the guy who bought it from me paid less than £700 so must have made a tidy sum. I find it hard to believe someone that shelled out nearly £2k for a car sends it for scrap 7 weeks later
  11. I don't have faceache but I've posted a message on the YT video asking about it. If you look at the guys other videos there are a few "scrapped" cars he's saved, ie Fiesta ST so possibly done this for clicks who knows. The new exhaust section I brought for it has been fitted and support welded back by looks of it too
  12. Bizarre. I'm surprised and saddened by this. I know the guy I sold it to put it straight up for sale probably on a citroen forum (he said he was a member of some) and I had a message on ebay from a guy who subsequently bought it. I assume he used my original ad as basis for his advert. Suspension, brakes, engine etc all working when it left me and obviously with a full mot so cannot understand why someone's done this. It's had a "UK" sticker added so possible it's been used as a copycat AutoAlex trip to Paris perhaps and then binned
  13. To clarify I and I'm sure other members aren't shouting at you so I'm sorry if it appears that way. We are trying to suggest ways to best deal with this as we all want the best for you. Sometimes it's frustrating over a forum as things can be misunderstood. It's definitely time to get REV back and I totally understand how it must feel
  14. This is a great forum for old shite perverts and since joining I've met some great people and overall found it a friendly place to be. None of the gatekeeping I've found on other "car clubs" which can be big put off for newbies. I hope your mental health is improving and you can enjoy your mondy when the weather improves
  15. Since the weekend I've done a few jobs to improve the old thing. I've swapped the smaller battery which has been unused for a while with a more substantial bosch one I had lying around and is now secure. Remote locking now working courtesy of a pair of fob batteries and makes it much easier to live with. Radio code was £1.75 off ebay so that's another job done. Obviously Smooth on preset and ignore the hilarious external temp sensor. The temperature gague was bit wierd, got up to temperature and when driving would go back to 0 and sit there. Changing the thermostat on these requires the cambelt to come off so that won't be happening. Could have just lived with it but read up on a mod which @Dobloseven mentioned. Apparently using a modded Renault 5 thermostat which is the right diameter works. £7 and a few days later it arrived so drained the coolant Got it drilled and installed, nice easy job Happy to report after a road test all works well and now holds a steady 87°c ish temp. Total spend £10.75 so far
  16. What a lovely thing 😍. I had an old mk1 in 2.0L guise a few years ago in a very similar colour. I've not seen seats that nice in a car so early tho, what a find! Welcome anyway Mart
  17. Pleasure meeting you this morning @Dobloseven what a gent and now a friend. Car was very undersold but with lots of fettling potential. I hope its helped the previous owners grief knowing it will live on for a bit longer yet. Rusty roof rack removed and already fixed a vaccum hose leak which was making her idle a bit higher than should be. Worst bit by far is OSR arch which will require some creativity come MOT time but not overly concerned
  18. What a beast and still working 3 miles in wahey!
