I appreciate the inputs from both  :) especially on the buy on condition rather then milage, Im just a bit worried if its had a hair cut every MOT, what else might be dodgy/bodged but I guess thats the Autoshite version of "how long is a piece of string"

London cabs had to be meticulously maintained. I agree haircuts would be for financial purposes, everything else would be kept to a high standard to keep it going through the tests

Fuck the mileage. It's the rust you need to look out for.

Eight months is long enough for a TX to deteriorate from solid to terminal.

If you get 8 months driving experience from it, then scrap it to get a bit back, then its worth the money. Less than 100 quid a month depreciation, if you look at it that way

yeah thats kinda what im thinking with this particular one, even if it does run the MOT station's printer out of ink at its next test, ill have still had a decent amount of time with it, as you say experience gained, and a couple hundred quid or so can be made from cubing or such

the only spanner in the works of that train of thought is the cost of insurance

well the last quote was quite a lot of money for meat £2K. but as scary as that sounds, it honestly was not all that much more then what I got for other similar sized vehicles like the Red Volvo Estate that was for sale on here recently, (which was about £1.5K on compare the market) so I would not of been really any better off getting said volvo or other such large vehicle

most people where anticipating  i'd get quoted about £4K for a TX4!

big question is, can I still find someone to quote me, as that quote I did get was a limited time offer, and took *a lot* of ringing around to find

You need to remember that you, @chancer and myself live in areas with a competitive market for garages with the know how to bodge these heaps through one last MOT.

The fact they want money for that offends me.

Can't wait* for the repeated relistings until it eventually finds its correct £500 start price.

"The car has been fully serviced by me with the inclusion of lucas oil stabiliser - for both engine and gearbox. (If you know classic cars, you'll know this stuff makes all the difference in the life of the engine  :) )"

"Central locking for the boot was never included in the Maestro"

Bloke / car is in Tilbury, we should be thankful it's not upside-down and/or on fire.
