  1. Yes it is. And if they dont address the rampant rust and poor quality repairs to the sills, it will be extinct. This is exactly the reason old stuff should still be subject to MOT test
  2. Spotted this today. Probably one for the didnt know they existed thread...avon tuning triumph acclaim...it looked absolutely hanging, no doubt it doesnt need an MOT now....
  3. Wurst fred eva....im guessing it was an invacar and the lucky recipient has been checked in to the local asylum
  4. Just restocking at Toytown and blagged another 2 😄
  5. Nice wee haul from Smyths this evening. Not bad for a fiver
  6. Issues are mainly with the converted ones using the cybrand exhaust with adblue. Many cabs are running around with the fuse pulled and reverted back to Euro 5 cos nobody up here knows how to fix it. They are all being converted in Chester. I know there are supply issues with some parts for the later Euro 6 cabs with 2.8 engine. The LPG converted ones mainly have issues with actually finding somewhere that has LPG to sell! Not great when everywhere has run out and the petrol tank only holds a gallon for emergencies! Meanwhile, my old shitbox just plods on without a hiccup.
  7. I have been working, generally out there 7 days a week. Maybe not working hard, but im out there all the same! On a usual shift i cover about 70-80 miles. It really has been a great cab. And has less issues than the newer ones that have been modified to comply with Euro6 legislation. Progress? Dont think so
  8. Right, to bring this up to date. Cab has just continued to plod on doing its duty. Nothing really to report, it failed to start a couple of times but ive worked out that priming the diesel filter on a cold morning makes starting a bit easier. No issues when doing this. Apart from that it had a morning in the garage to have the EGR pipe replaced as it was leaking diesel fumes into the cab. So, in just over 3 months it really hasnt put a foot wrong. Ive covered around 4.5k miles in that time. I had intended moving it on at the beginning of April when my other work starts up, but i may just keep it and work it as and when required until May31st when the dreaded LEZ is enforced
  9. That Proton is the absolute titties.....much jealousy. Almost luxury in GLS trim. Not quite SE, but slightly better that the GL (unsure of the difference) and one passenger mirror better than a GE Fun fact...an Xr3i hit me at speed whilst driving a silver 1.3 GL.....his front end crumpled. I got a huge payout, and needed to replace the plastic trim on the rear bumper, the metal bumper tapped back into shape. No other damage. Better cars than anyone gave them credit for
  10. Whats happening with the E7? My TX just keeps plodding along, slowly, but hasnt given any cause for concern. Doesn't make for an interesting thread like I thought it might...
  11. @LightBulbFun i dont recall anyone actually telling you what to do, i see it more as people offering genuine opinions from a wealth of experience. It seems pretty clear now that you really want and need to go down the path you have chosen with REV, and either show the doubters how wrong they were, or it might just be one of those where you realise that maybe hanging off and trying to use it daily was a mistake. Only you can make that judgement. They do say you shouldnt meet your heroes
  12. Theres not much to choose from. Our council insist on side loading wheelchair access, probably in case of rear end shunts or the like. Councils outwith the area allow Berlingos and the like to be used as taxis. It doesn't bother me though, i prefer to have a proper cab with a bandit screen to keep the great unwashed away from me 🤣

Liked, because members helping other members, no matter where they are in the world, is a thing to be held in great regard. However, your closing comment about snide comments was just about as snide as it comes. Glad everyone had a good day out
  14. LTI TX1, 2 and 4 LEVC Txe Ford Procab (not voyager or the likes) Peugeot E7 (allied vehicles) Mercedes Vito M8 (allied vehicles) There were also a few Fiat versions of the E7 a good few years ago Apart from the above, none
  15. Glasgow city council. Glasgow Airport falls within Renfrewshire
  16. Plenty. Mainly from the city centre though. I tend to work outwith the centre though. City centre to Glasgow Airport is £35, and £5 of that goes towards getting out of the drop off zone. Bastards. That £30 quid can be earned easily with 2 or 3 hires from the shopping centre. It all works out the same, so airport hires only really work for us if we land on a booking coming back into the city. Glasgow Airport is outwith our licencing authority so we have an agreement that once we drop off we are allowed to sit for 5 mins before heading back empty
  17. This. Passengers always say shit like 'You must see some sights and get some roasters. Bet you have some great stories to tell driver' and I always think, no, most days pass without any drama. Very few stories to tell really
  18. No im on the radio system so get 3 bites at the cherry so to speak. School contracts make up a fair bit of the work, and can easily throw 3 figures per day without even trying. Then there is ranks outside shopping centres when its quiet, theres always a steady stream of punters making their way out, and street hires because we are public hire. Very little work at night now, glasgow city centre is on its knees at the moment. Sad times, because it used to be rammed thurs-sun and the rest of the week was steady
  19. My nights have been great. Now that im working during the day. A few years ago the nightshift was the busy shift, but its turned on its head now. We are far busier now on a dayshift than ever before. Im usually finished by 6pm at the latest
  20. Small update. I've spent a week in the cab now, and aside having to get a jump start the other morning when it was -8° it has not put a foot wrong. Investigations revealed a loose terminal on the battery and its been fine since. Its covered around 650 miles plodding the streets of Glasgow, and i kinda love it a bit more every day. It is slow, noisy, agricultural and feels like its from a bygone age, but its brilliant. Just a shame that the LEZ will see it out of service in a few short months. Im starting to warm to the prospect of upgrading to an LPG TX cab next.....will be speaking to cabbies who have already had theirs converted over the coming weeks to get a decent idea of what the pitfalls could be.
  21. Probably not. Good to keep different cabs within their own thread. Might be good to start a 'Tales of a taxi driver' thread though....for funny stories and observations that dont relate to the vehicles
  22. From what I have been told, they were fully built ready to go cabs, assembled in 2017. At that point in time, there were no lpg/petrol conversions to conform to Euro6 standards. But there was a Euro6 version of the TX4 available here on 16 plates.....therefore i really cant understand why these were converted at all, because at that age they would already have been compliant as a diesel vehicle. Its a strange situation, which certainly raises more questions than it answers. Cab in question was put into service this morning, so is no longer at the garage. It replaced a 57 plate TX4 which will be cannibalised for parts in the coming weeks to keep other cabs across the country going
  23. Ive had more flag downs in the last week than i can remember having in the transit. I can only think that people just assume the transits are just vans, but the proper cab is instantly recognisable. I had some major doubts and regrets after handing over the payment last week, but i shouldnt have worried
  24. Usually when they are complaining about the out of town fixed fares. And the reason i get that fare up front. Much easier than a fight to get paid at the other end.
