Fuck me. So the nice 206cc is a thousand hectares away, but I wanted to see if my friend could see out and how hopeless where the rear seats etc? So we went to a local dealer with 2 of them.

We pull up and my buddy says "there's no drivers seat"

There was, but the cover was removed. Because she's a short bastard. The rear legroom wasn't bad, however she couldn't recline as the knob was missing from the seat cover removal...

I ask if we can lower the roof to see if it made a difference to how she sees out of it. The roof didn't work obviously, he tried his hardest and he blamed the seat cover removal as the cause. I said "what about the black one you've got in?"

That was away for brake repair....

I believe we're off to see the good one tomorrow. The boot is enormous when the roof is up. I was shocked at the amount of space.

Strange? .... Out today in ToMM© and it was bloody freezing!

Driving along - easy throttle/tootling on the flat - and the engine temp needle drops away almost to blue.

Bit of throttle/uphill twisty and it is back up to middling.

Question! = doesn't a gauge tell you how *hot the engine is NOT the radiator input?

Thermostat is new & top jobbie :)

*heater always furnace toasty

Went to see the fancy 206 cool convertible.

Boot has a dent, under the boot mat was damp. (Common fault, needs a lubing)

Bumper scuffs. However their site has one price.... Facebook has a £150 less price... And their other Facebook post has £500 less which is a fantastic price.

I've said that if she buys it and she hates it. I'll buy it off her in December for a few hundred quid less than she paid. (Almost free motoring for her) it is a rather homersexual car. But I also have a bright orange Panpan and couldn't care less.

The guy also has an Eos. My first question was "how many roof seals have you replaced?"

He said none. He took it to a VW garage who said. "Your roof doesn't leak, get rid now while you can"

He said he's had it for a few months and he Vaselines the seals and all is well.

Bought this Blaupunkt stereo as part of a UPullit haul today. Looks pretty tidy so optimistic of it working. The sticker on top seems pretty clear on where power goes in, but I'm not sure if I'm hooking it up to a car battery correct to test it. It is clear where the earth is but there are two positives and a pin for switch. Anyone here able to tell me what I should hook up to what just to power it up on the bench?

It should just work of the switched (ignition) side as the permanent feed is usually used for storing stations you've tuned in & saved. If in doubt connect to both, shouldn't be a problem. If worse comes to worse it'll just do its code entry on the display.

I suspect the terminal marked for the switch will be for illumination, to dim or switch on the backlight with the dashlights. otherwise, just hook both positives to the battery to test

Really stupid question here but the R3 Rover 200 does have a different windscreen to the earlier R8 doesn't it?

I know it is heavily based on the R8 to the point the dash is interchangable.

Thanks, that's correct. Huzzah it powered up. I'll test it properly and then it will appear on an eBay near you. Came out of a BX. Even got the manuals and code. Happy days.

I don't know if there's an equivalent thread on the open forum, so...

A non motoring question regarding the National Lottery.

Mrs Tet does said lottery twice a week, but doesn't check them very often, so she ends up with a good few tickets.

She will then go into a shop and rely on the shop to run them through the machine and tell her if she has a winner. She reckons she can tell if there's a winning ticket because 'it makes a different noise'.

Now my question is, on every draw there's (unless they've discontinued it), a million pound winning number. Does this flag up when the tickets are checked through the shop lottery terminal?

Should most garages have a pump to remove oil through dipstick hole or filler - I thought many modern cars don’t have drain plugs anymore. We took our car to a different garage for a cheap oil and filter change and forgot the about the Bodge to oil sump to fix a leak that means the sump plug can’t Ben removed. They appear to have responded in a Nuns and Kittens will die fashion. Just waiting for an update from my wife.

Does anyone know of a proper aircon place?

Not someone who can re-gas, but someone who can re manufacture/repair Condensors, pumps etc?

Most of the AC stuff I've got is NLA, and trying to hunt for such a specialist just brings up loads of Gassing businesses.

Why not just bang the numbers into the national lottery web site?. That will tell you when / if those are worthless.

Download the lottery app and scan the barcodes with phone camera

Does the AS referendum still need to be pinned now it's closed and locked?

Posted

For ages the AS referendum thread was showing as having unread posts.  I clicked on Two Savvys last post about 4 times before I started looking to see if someone else was the last poster.  Is this a thing with sticky threads?

No, it was that someone had voted

What about new Volvos then? The T5 used to mean a 5 cylinder petrol with a turbo (I have one). and D5 was the same only diesel. Now T5 has 4 cylinders! I is confused! Does anyone know how the naming system works for them?

Air care automotive is my local guy in Surrey. Built a new condenser for my merc a few years ago and visits for a service every two years. He does a lot of work for maranello sales (classic Ferrari ) in egham too,

Just recieved a PCN for speeding (oh what a good week).

I've never had one before so can do a speed awareness course but that is £100 and a day somewhere horrible.  Otherwise its 3 points and £100 fine.

If I take the points this time will I still be offered the course if I get caught again?  I don't mind having 3 points,  I can't see it affecting the insurance by much and I've been driving nearly 15 years without getting caught before.

I think the criteria for being offered a course is that you haven't already done the course within the last 3 years, so you could take the points this time and still get the course option next time.

You might want to check the small print in the PCN to make sure though, rather than rely on my understanding!

Looking for a stopgap, Have an option of a 406 Hdi, Low mileage, full years MOT..... good history too, recent timing belt, water pump etc

Only light concern is last MOT threw up inner sill and suspension prescribed area corroded but not excessive.

Worst case, clean up and try to catch the rot and if not, run for a few months and sell on with ticket i guess

Yay or nay?

It would be nice to tidy up the wiring on the landy project. Maybe add some fuses. Anyone got a suggested supplier for wire etc?

I'm also pretty clueless what size wire I want. I'd like everything I add / replace to be smoke leak resistant, so obvs bigger is better, but how big is big enough?

I think they all have 4 cylinders now, the 'D' or 'T' numbers relate to the power output.

Vehicle Wiring Products is worth a look to see what's what and they've also got a general sizing guide here.  Having said all that, they're not too cheap so once you know what you want, hit ebay for the cables, crimps etc

As the arrow points outwards on the stereo diagram I would assume its a switched power live for an electric aerial.
