320touring Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Anyone any experience with Mister Auto? Are they usefully accurate, or euro car parts accurate?
artdjones Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Anyone any experience with Mister Auto? Are they usefully accurate, or euro car parts accurate?Been ok for me,no mistakes, but I'm pretty careful to go through all the alternatives on the list before I make my choice. One good thing is that they often have the same part in several makes,so you can pick the make of part you've had good experiences with. 320touring 1
Eddie Honda Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I've had one mistake from Mister Auto. Sent me one glow plug that happened to have the same 4-digit reference number on the box as a set of HT leads I was meant to get. Sorted out ok, but you'd think the picker would have at least twigged that given the rest of the spark ignition bits on the pick list that I wasn't wanting a solitary glow plug. Only other problem was a shit condenser, but we can blame Valeo for that. Caveat: This was .ie shop and they use An Post for delivery in Ireland. In the UK on the other hand I think it's YO! Sigmund Fraud Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Caveat: This was .ie shop and they use An Post for delivery in Ireland. In the UK on the other hand I think it's YO! DEL... Parcelfarce in my neck of woods, who are as hopeless as Yodel. Mister Auto are good, though, and now part of the PSA empire. My most recent order was lost in transit (Parcelfarce, see above), and the customer department refunded me within a couple of days. Ended up buying the same part from Amazon for £1 more, received it within 48h.
Eddie Honda Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 and they use An Post for delivery in Ireland. This could be a fib and it is really Day and a Half Late. (Now looked up and it's either / or) And looking up their UK front page it seems to be Royal Mail / Parcel Farce / DHL It was deffo Yodel at one point - obviously the useless cunts have been dropped since. HURRAH!
MikeR Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 whats the best oil filter removal tool ? getting prepared for next time .... been suggested the 3 prong one is good .. already have a chain one , tried a strap one that slowly did the job , this one is for a filter that I did up hand tight , took ages to get off
Sigmund Fraud Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I've used all types, but the only one that has never failed me is this : MikeR, Lacquer Peel and mercrocker 3
bigfella2 Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Big dirty screwdriver hammered through the side has never failed me yet. stephen01 and Scruffy Bodger 2

steveo3002 Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 i use these ones most https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BERGEN-Swivel-Oil-Filter-Strap-Removal-Wrench-Set-4-Piece-2-3-4-5-1-4/152619908642?epid=2037171200&hash=item2388dafe22:g:l64AAOSwlXhZZKuA
MikeR Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 main issue tends to be slippage and skidding . not only did my tool struggle but the rubber gloves failed as well .....considering it was a long one as opposed to a stubby that could be normally fitted , there was plenty to get hold of ! , I had to ask a mate to try his . I dont like piercing , I like to be able to use the ride if all else fails ....

Rod/b Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Whatever happened to the UNKLE_B411saX insane Maserati restoration from history? Last I remember was him cutting a decent repair panel in half so he could fit it in the boot of a Metro or something.
Kiltox Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I’ve tried many oil filter tools but the universal one (screwdriver) usually wins xtriple 1
cort16 Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I’ve got one of those band ones I I got from Aldi for 3 quid and it’s never failed me yet.
Eddie Honda Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I’ve got one of those band ones I I got from Aldi for 3 quid and it’s never failed me yet. Band ones are shit. You will fail. Needs one of these: and if the oil filter is a shit aftermarket one, you'll need some extra grip Asimo and stephen01 2
Jim Bell Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Funny one. Mk1 Focus Zeetec 1.6. Crazy constant beeping coming from the glove box/clock area. Sounds literally like a digital clock alarm, but I dont think the car has a setable clock alarm. Came on ramdomly on the way home today. No warning lights or anything though. Just constant beeping. Went off with ingnition when we got home. Anyone got any ideas of WTF it is?

320touring Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Here's one for you.. Getting the Burd's Clio 172 ready for MOT this week and I decided to change the brake fluid as pedal felt spongy. It now has new fluid to all nipples, and 2 new front calipers (snapped bleed nipples on old ones) plus new front pads. We were Uber cautious to keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid any air in the ABS system. Pedal still feels spongy compared to my one, and a million miles away from the way the ph2 car with the same setup felt. It pulls up ok, but pedal is long. Any suggestions on cause or remedy?

What happens if you pump the pedal (does it get hard), how did you bleed it (pressurised system or the old fashioned way)
hpi_matrix Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Having aquired the roffle'd citroen zx I'am now struggling to insure it for a decent price. Im guessing this could be because:Im under 30All my NCB is on another carIts not old enough to be classicAny suggestions comrades? Im not keen on shelling out £500+ insurance on an old beater when I havent paid more the £300 for much better exotica.

Jim Bell Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 More Ford questions. Did the mk1 CMax use Focus wing mirrors? Ie can a CMax one ho straight on my Focus without titfarting around with it?
Timewaster Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Any tips for curing the stinking stagnant water in the utterly inaccessible washer bottle on my family wagon? I've cured it before by popping the pump out and letting it all run out but I go on holiday in 2 days and I'm not going to have time for a massive strip down. Bleach? Sterelising tablet? Hosepipe in the filler neck and go in the house for a cup of tea? (Garden flood optional).
Kiltox Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Just under boiling water + a bit of bleach, run it through Hose down the paint afterwards Timewaster 1
Fabergé Greggs Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 If my tires only say 145 r14 on them and I want a new one in the same size- does that correspond to a sidewall ratio of 80 hence 145 80 r14? Why don’t they write the 80 on the side???
Sigmund Fraud Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Why don’t they write the 80 on the side??? Because the aspect ratio is actually 82%. Fabergé Greggs 1
Fabergé Greggs Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Because the aspect ratio is actually 82%.So 145 80 r14 and 145 r14 are actually different sizes? So much so that I shouldn’t mix and match?
